Alzheimer’s, A. (2015). 2015 Alzheimer's disease facts and figures. Alzheimer's & dementia: the journal of the Alzheimer's Association, 11(3), 332.
The above report focuses on public health and the impacts the Alzheimer’s diseases (AD), it includes all the incidences and the prevailing mortality rates. It also covers cost incurred for caring and also the effect felt by the care givers and the society at large. This report focuses the issues encountered by the health care providers as they try to disclose the AD diagnosis to the patients as well as the care givers. Approximately 5.29 million Americans are diagnosed with AD; 200,000 have an average of below 65 years and 5.1 million are about 65 years. In the U.S. someone will develop AD after every 67 seconds. The expectations are that by 2050, AD will develop after every 33 seconds which will result to nearly a million cases per year. Ad is the sixth leading cause of death in the U.S. disclosure of the AD is usually too hard for the health specialists. Improvement of the disclosure process is suppose.

This document provides a literature review on current research and perspectives regarding major depressive disorder (MDD). It summarizes research on the epidemiology, etiology, symptoms, and treatment of MDD. Regarding etiology, the document reviews research on anatomical, physiological, and genetic factors but notes the etiology is complex with no single cause identified. Treatment research indicates cognitive behavioral therapy can reduce relapse while incomplete recovery from initial episodes predicts a more severe long-term course. The review emphasizes the importance of fully understanding each patient's individual experience of MDD.

This document summarizes research on discrimination, race, gender, and attenuated positive psychotic symptoms (APPS) in college students. A study of over 1,600 black and white college students found that black students reported more discrimination and endorsed more APPS, regardless of gender. The study also found a gender difference in APPS among black students that was partially mediated by reported discrimination. In general, the document reviews literature showing that ethnic minorities and those who experience discrimination may be at higher risk for subclinical psychotic symptoms.

A critical discussion of the focus on the biomedical perspective in the preve...GERATEC
The biomedical focus on dementia brought the phenomena of what was considered a normal part of ageing into the medical and scientific field of interest (Bartlett, R and O’Connor, D. 2010). This perspective comes with a strong focus on neurodegenerative decline and deficits. Even though Alzheimer’s disease was around for more than 70 years since noted by Alois Alzheimer, it was only in the 1980’s that the “disease emerged as an illness category and policy issue” (Lyman, A. 1989). The Nun Study of David A. Snowdon, PhD, which started in 1991, brought a new perspective to the research into dementia. It was discovered during autopsies that people who have lived their lives without any signs of dementia, actually had amyloid plaques and tangles in their brains congruent to people living with dementia (Snowdon, D.A. 2003). Biomedical research is at this stage the primary focus of research into dementia, receiving most of the funding budget. According to an article in Therapy Today (July 2012) in the UK alone, £66 million will be allocated to dementia research by 2015, of which only £13 million is earmarked for social science research. In the WHO report on Dementia, Daviglus M.L. et al of the US National Institutes of Health state that “firm conclusions cannot be drawn about the association of any modifiable risk factor with cognitive decline of Alzheimer disease”.
The importance of the research findings of the biomedical model cannot be underestimated. However, considering the facts that t this point there seems to be nothing that can prevent nor cure Dementia, I am of the opinion that more research and funding should focused on creating a life worth living for people who live with dementia.
Most people with dementia undergo behavioral changes during the course of the disease. They may become anxious or repeat the same question or activity over and over. The unpredictability of these changes can be stressful for caregivers. As the disease progresses, your loved one's behavior may seem inappropriate, childlike or impulsive. Anticipating behavioral changes and understanding the causes can help you deal with them more effectively.

Introduction
Alzheimer's disease tends to be a progressive, irreversible ailment that impacts the normal functioning of the brain slowly destroying the thinking and memory-related skills and as it progresses it limits the patient the ability to conduct simple tasks ("What Is Alzheimer's Disease?," 2020). Researchers suggest that approximately 6 million American citizens older than 65 years of age have dementia which is caused by Alzheimer's disease. In most patients, the symptoms of this condition begin to be identified when they are in their mid- the 60s. This condition is often ranked as one of the top ten causes of death in the United States, but following a recent investigation, the condition has climbed the ladder and it is currently ranked as the top five leading cause of death in the United States. Often the disease is categorized with cancer and heart disease as the main cause of death among the older population. This paper will focus on planning research that is focused on understanding Alzheimer's disease, its causes symptoms and its impact on the older population.
Problem identification
Alzheimer's disease tends to be the most common cause of dementia among the older population around the world. The condition impacts the normal functioning of the brain hence causing the loss of cognitive functioning such as reasoning, remembering and thinking. Also, it impacts behavioral abilities to the extent of the victim not being able to conduct various daily essential activities ("What Is Alzheimer's Disease?," 2020). The severity of the brain damage from the mildest stage where the normal function of a person is impact and it progresses to a most severe stage and the victim must be dependent on the people around him or her for basic activities related to daily living. The condition is most popular among the older population and its estimated that the condition has impacted about 6 million senior American citizens' normal function and also it is a leading cause of death among this population ("Alzheimer's Disease Fact Sheet," 2020).
Significance of the Problem to Nursing
With a significant population estimated to be victims of Alzheimer's disease in the United States, it is most likely that individuals in the nursing practice will encounter patients suffering from this condition either in their personal lives on in their careers. Thus, it is essential for the nurses to be able to understand and recognize the Alzheimer's Disease symptoms, treatment approaches, and options as well as learn how to effectively interact with this vulnerable population ("Update on Alzheimer’s: What Nurses Should Know," 2020).

Misperception and Representation of People with Alzheimer Disease
Specific Aims
It is common knowledge that most of the people with Alzheimer disease have been misunderstood and continually misrepresented in the society all over the world. This has been the phenomenon since neuropsychologist discovered the disease in more than a century ago. Misrepresentation and misperception of people living with Alzheimer's disease (AD) have not just sent the patients to isolation but it has also contributed to the fewer acceptances of the people with the mental disorder. most of the people with the disorder have been dismissed from their workplace and discriminated against in most social places by the people who have low knowledge on the disorder as most of them whose mental fitness are yet to be discovered have been deemed misfit in the society and condemned to their houses and homes (Alzheimer's Association. 2013). Most of the developed nations have developed frameworks which have been used to detect this neurodegenerative disease which start as a normal disease and worsen the condition of the patient when it becomes chronic. However, this is not the case among most of the developing nations and even the structures in the developed nations are not sufficient which has made most of the people not to have sufficient knowledge on the cause, symptoms, and diagnosis of the mental illness. most of the people with Alzheimer's, usually become withdraw as most of the people in the society discriminate and stigmatize against them through misrepresentation and perceiving them in a wrong perspective. The study will seek to bring at an end the experience that people with Alzheimer face when they are misunderstood and misperceived in the society and develop health programs that can be used to eliminate the phenomenon.
Background to the Study
Studies have revealed that 60-70% of dementia is as a result of Alzheimer and the most common symptom of the disease is short-term memory loss which makes the patients not to remember events that took place recently. however, the symptoms and effects of the disease increase as the mental illness become more chronic and other symptoms may include and not limited to problems with language, disorientation which result to the patient getting lost, develop mood swings, lack self-care among other (Fratiglioni et al, 2009). The end of it is that the patients isolate and withdraw from the society. The fact that most of the patient loses their body functions and eventually dies has been a reason why most of the people in the society have distanced themselves with people with Alzheimer disease. The understanding of the disease is that one will have a life expectancy of fewer than nine years has also been an issue as it has caused much harm to the pat ...

Treatment of Dementias, Including Alzheimer’s disease
About Dementia and Alzheimer’s disease
Dementia is characterized by the declining of cognitive functioning. The thinking, memory, and reasoning capabilities of a person with dementia is influenced to a point that interferes with their ability to do their daily activities (Alzheimer’s Association, 2016). The dementia itself is not an illness it is the most prevailing symptom of Alzheimer’s. Alzheimer’s disease is the cause of between 60% and 80% of all dementia cases (Alzheimer’s Association, 2016). There are various other factors that can lead to a demented state such as severe mental illness such as depression, delirium, dehydration, chronic alcoholism, some brain tumors and illnesses, or even Vitamin B12 deficiency (Ridley, Draper & Withall, 2013; Rossor et al., 2010). The reason for selecting dementias and Alzheimer’s disease is because these are associated with much other comorbidity which can easily affect a patient when not properly taken care of. Individuals with dementia are three times more prone to be hospitalized for preventable reasons. The loss of cognitive functioning makes the patients of dementia and Alzheimer’s to be dependent on others to do even the simplest of daily tasks. This makes coping with these conditions hard not only for the patients but also for their caregivers, family, support groups, and peers. Therefore, it is important to develop a good care plan for such patients to cater for their psychosocial needs as well as their biomedical needs.
Morbidity and Comorbidity of Dementia and Alzheimer’s disease
Other form of dementia and Alzheimer’s are leading cause of disability in America. In 2014 Alzheimer was one of the principles causes of mortality in the United States. Based on the death certificate data, Alzheimer’s is the 6th leading cause of mortality for adults aged 18 and older (HealthyPeople2020, nd). This illness is mainly common among the elderly population aged 65 and older. As of 2016, the prevalence of this disease in this population group was 11%, which are approximately 5.2 million people. Around 4% of all deaths in 2014 were Alzheimer’s related (HealthyPeople2020, nd). The percentage of Alzheimer’s disease-related deaths has increased significantly, partly because of the increased elderly population. The death rate due to Alzheimer’s has increased by 55% since 1999 (HealthyPeople2020, nd).
Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia are commonly associated with other physical and psychiatric comorbidities. Some of the common psychiatric comorbidities associated with dementia and Alzheimer’s include depression, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia (Garcez et al., 2015). They have also been associated with other non-psychiatric illn.

The Effects of Alzheimer on America
Background
Alzheimer’s disease is known to affect the brain, cells, and nerves, nervous and psychic-emotional system. Alzheimer’s is the progressive disorder which results in the loss of cognitive abilities. It is the most concerned structure of dementia. As of today, there is still no clue to why or what causes this disorder, but there are ample ideas and suggestions for this disorder.
One of the most relevant symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease is the reduction of the ability to interpret your sensory perceptions and to understand the meaning of things. There is no current treatment, but there are drugs that are been used to slow down its progression.
In 1906, Alexander Alois described this disorder as a pathological presenile of dementia. It is believed that by the 2015, there will be a diagnosis of 5.3 million with Alzheimer’s disease which will eventually cause death.
Alzheimer’s disease is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder leading to sever cognitive, memory and behavioral impairment.
Significance
This proposal is to show how and why there are research done on Alzheimer’s disease. This disease affects 500 million people in the U.S. This is known as the aging disease.
The testing of Alzheimer’s is important because it is a way to find the cause of it and ways to prevent it or either slows down the progression rate in AD.
The diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease is an important research because it contributes to helping our aging America and onset of Dementia. Alzheimer’s could be cause by other significant disease that may be at bay in our mind and body.
The significance of this proposal is to give insight on ways to prevent AD. It may also be a cure for it as well as what causes it. It also details where in the brain Alzheimer’s may begin in its early stages.
Literature Review
Alzheimer’s is the most common form of dementia. It is assumed to grow as the population of the aging grows. So far there is no treatment to stop the growth of AD. The growth of AD gets worsen due to the cognitive ability, functional ability and behavioral and mood changes. Alzheimer’s has signs of mood changes, depression, anger and confusion when changes happen. Someone of normal aging process will exhibit decrease in coordinator and movement whereas AD recipient will exhibit halting in movement or coordination and loss of balance.
The criterion for diagnosis of AD is definite, probable, and possible. Definite syndrome is histopathological confirmed. Probable has two cognitive deficits and severity of deficits. Possible has atypical awareness. There will be more updates to include brain imaging and peripheral biomarkers. These interventions may have some evidence to reduce or delay the onset of Alzheimer disease and dementia. It could possibly change the effect of normal aging on the brain activity. Physical exercise has been suggested to reduce the risk of dementia by lessen deterioration and cognitive deficit by reversal. It ...

Regular physical and cognitive exercise may help slow progression of symptoms and improve quality of life for patients and caregivers.

It ...

Alzheimer’s, A. (2015). 2015 Alzheimer's disease facts and
figures. Alzheimer's & dementia: the journal of the Alzheimer's
Association, 11(3), 332.
The above report focuses on public health and the impacts the
Alzheimer’s diseases (AD), it includes all the incidences and
the prevailing mortality rates. It also covers cost incurred for
caring and also the effect felt by the care givers and the society
at large. This report focuses the issues encountered by the
health care providers as they try to disclose the AD diagnosis to
the patients as well as the care givers. Approximately 5.29
million Americans are diagnosed with AD; 200,000 have an
3. average of below 65 years and 5.1 million are about 65 years. In
the U.S. someone will develop AD after every 67 seconds. The
expectations are that by 2050, AD will develop after every 33
seconds which will result to nearly a million cases per year. Ad
is the sixth leading cause of death in the U.S. disclosure of the
AD is usually too hard for the health specialists. Improvement
of the disclosure process is supposed to be improved. This
article will be useful as I develop my paper since it is much
elaborate on the issue of the AD and also gives the statistics on
the rate of the infection and so it verses me with the required
information to develop an elaborate paper.
Bird, T. D. (2015). Alzheimer disease overview
According to the above reference, the characteristic of AD is
Dementia which typically starts with a subtle as well as memory
failure which in turn become incapacitating. There are also
other r common findings which include poor judgment,
confusion, agitation, language disturbance as well as
hallucinations. Sometimes seizures are experienced, increased
muscle tones, incontinence, myoclonus and mutism also occurs.
Death is caused by malnutrition, pneumonia and general
inanition. The recommended clinic duration is usually between
8 to 10 years. As we note from the above reference, the disease
is explained in details and this gives me the knowledge of the
characteristics of the disease and also the characteristics. This
is very important in my paper since it provides me with the best
knowledge on the characteristics and the symptoms of the
disease.
Kumar, A., & Singh, A. (2015). A review on Alzheimer's
disease pathophysiology and its management: an update.
Pharmacological Reports, 67(2), 195-203.
According to Anil Kumar AD disease is known to be a
neurodegenerative disorder that is multifarious and progressive.
He further explains that this disease is the major cause of
Dementia especially in the late adult life. According to
pathology, AD is usually characterized by the intracellular
tangle of neurofibrillary and also the deposits of the
4. extracellular amyloidal proteins that bring about plaques of
senile. The advancing study of pathogenesis has inspired the
investigation of therapeutic study towards the
pathophysiological events. The reference explains deeply about
AD and also mentions the diseases major cause. The
information provided is helpful in my paper since it gives
details of the cause of AD.

Huntley, J., Ames, D., ... & Cooper, C. (2017). Dementia
prevention, intervention, and care. The Lancet, 390(10113),
2673-2734.
In the paper above, Gill and his counterparts tackle the issue
about the safety measures to be taken. They say that acting now
on ways to prevent AD and intervene as well as exercising care
to the infected can largely improve the living. Cases of death
will be minimal due to the presence of a vast knowledge about
the disease. The lives of people leaving with dementia and their
families will improve and by so doing this will significantly
bring a transformation to the future of the society. This
reference gives the details on how we are supposed to handle
the situation of people living with dementia. This knowledge is
of much significance to my paper because as much as I will
discuss the dementia disease, I will also need to talk about how
to live with the infected.
Nelson, L., & Tabet, N. (2015). Slowing the progression of
Alzheimer’s disease; what works?. Ageing research reviews, 23,
193-209.
In this reference, Lucy and Naji explain that Alzheimer’s
disease is a disease associated with age and dementia progresses
with the age and it is increasing worldwide. It typically affects
the short term memory as it onsets. This illness which is
devastating advances until it brings impaireness to all the
aspects associated with cognitive and the non-cognitive domain
too. Nowadays a lot of effort has been put in place a disease
modifying treatment or medication but the most promising get
faltered during the preclinical research. Because of that failure
5. to get an effective medication, the all the efforts have been
shifted to gaining insight on the preventive measures. The
authors of this reference explain the efforts that are put in place
in order to counter the problem of the increasing disease.
Robinson, L., Tang, E., & Taylor, J. P. (2015). Dementia:
timely diagnosis and early intervention. Bmj, 350, h3029
Robinson, Tang and Taylor explain their efforts for searching
for articles thro Medline, coochrane as well as the pub med and
also did research of the available systematic reviews from 2006
all the way to 2014. They talked about pharmacologic treatment
as well as the non-pharmacologic treatment. They further
explain strategies/interventions and treatment. They also focus
on systematic reviews and the Meta analysis and the high
quality randomized trials based on control. The authors also
include the expected figures of who will have dementia in the
future. They further explain the cause of delayed diagnosis.
Such information is of much help to me as I develop and
advance in writing may paper which should be detailed.
Rosenberg, P. B., Nowrangi, M. A., & Lyketsos, C. G. (2015).
Neuropsychiatric symptoms in Alzheimer's disease: what might
be associated brain circuits?. Molecular aspects of medicine, 43,
25-37.
According to the above researchers,
Neuropsychiatric symptoms (NPS) are usually very common in
the AD disease in particular, apathy, agitation, delusions and
depressions. All the brain networks or the circuits where these
symptoms underlie are now trying to be understood. The
growing neurochemical evidence together with imaging form a
base to the understanding of the potential mechanisms of the
Neuropsychiatric symptoms (NPS). The authors also offer
review of the recent literature and even an hypotheses
concerning networks or the circuit’s which underlie these NPS
in particular the apathy, agitation and even the delusions. This
informationis found in details as we continue analyzing the
book. It gives a clear outline on NPS symptoms common in the
AD.
6. Stokes, G. (2017). Challenging behavior in dementia: a person-
centred approach. Routledge.
Graham stokes explains how he never intended
to work in the field of dementia. He thought that this could be
as a result of lack of ambition or due to poor judgment. He was
attracted to neuropsychology and also to research on
management of dementia. He says that all the people that spent
time with those infected by dementia should be appreciated. He
says that working with the people whose memories are failing
should be appreciated. He further explains the need to manage
the rapidly ensuing problem. The main purpose of his book is to
rapidly communicate about the expanding knowledge of the
psychology the Dementia disease. This information is good for
my paper since it gets me to know more about the psychology of
the disease.

Brodaty, H., ... & Fratiglioni, L. (2016). Defeating Alzheimer's
disease and other dementias: a priority for European science and
society. The Lancet Neurology, 15(5), 455-532.
Winblad and his team in this book explain that
Alzheimer’s disease (AD) tops the list of causing Dementia.
They further state that dementia increases with an increase in
the age globally. This disease affects even the wealthier
countries and the medical care cost is usually a burden since the
numbers of Dementia infections increase overwhelmingly since
almost everybody is living into old age. They explain the effort
of the government and the policy makers as they make
incentives that provide more resources to develop AD
therapeutics. This shows that it is a national disaster and a
threat to everyone.

L., ... & Yu, J. T. (2016). The prevalence of neuropsychiatric
symptoms in Alzheimer's disease: systematic review and meta-
analysis. Journal of affective disorders, 190, 264-271.
Finally Zhao and his team explain that (NPS)
7. symptoms are progressively recognized as a common serious
problem in the AD disease. They further say that the data
provided on the prevalence of NPS in the people with AD do
conflict with the meta- analysis that is aimed at to approximate
the prevalence of the NPS. All the above information is
necessary in the development of my paper since it will be much
detailed and it will discuss and touch on every bit concerning
the AD disease.

Dementia
There are various types of Dementia i.e. Alzheimer’s disease,
vascular dementia, dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB),
Huntington Disease, Parkinson Disease Dementia and mixed
dementia and lots more.
I will be focusing on Alzheimer’s Disease, causes and
symptoms, treatment and diagnosis.
Alzheimer's is a disease that robs people of their memory. At
first, people have a hard time remembering recent events,
though they might easily recall things that happened years ago.
The HOPE for Alzheimer’s Act (S. 857 /H.R. 1559): Passage of
this bill would provide comprehensive care planning services—
for both the individual and his/her caregiver— following a
dementia diagnosis. Michael Splaine, a long-time advocate and
principal of Splaine Consulting, a healthcare policy firm that
specializes in Alzheimer’s issues

, is optimistic about the HOPE Act—as the bill is supported by
nearly half of the Senate and boasts over 200 House co-
sponsors.
The National Alzheimer’s Plan is essentially a call to public
preparedness for addressing Alzheimer’s, with Goal 3 of the
Plan focused on caregiver support. Many advocates are voicing
the need for state Alzheimer’s plans too.
The Alzheimer’s Caregiver Support Act (H.R. 3090

) will provide grants to public and non-profit organizations to
expand and improve training and support services for families
and caregivers of individuals with Alzheimer’s disease.
The RAISE Family Caregivers Act of 2015 (H.R. 3099/S.1719

) would facilitate the establishment of a national strategy to
address the many issues facing caregivers today, including
education and training, long-term services and supports, and
financial stability and security.

MAT-144 Major Assignment #3 Details
Overview:
You and some of your friends want to travel to another country
to provide aid in the form of a mission trip. You have been
chosen as the team leader, and your job is to provide a plan for
the trip, including a financial plan. This is a big job, and you
want to do it right, so you and your team have agreed that the
trip will take place 5 years from now. Requirements for the trip:
Who: You and 5-10 other individuals will travel to provide aid.
When: 5 years in the future. The trip will last 2-4 weeks. This is
not a large scale, so you should think carefully about what you
can accomplish with a team of this size and time frame.
What: This trip’s main purpose will be to fill some sort of
tangible need to improve the day-to-day life of the people you
11. meet. Therefore, your first job will be to decide what your team
has to offer and to find a location where there is a need for your
talents. You should think about what you can do to alleviate
human suffering by working in an area of education, health
care, basic supplies (such as clothing or home goods), housing,
food or clean water, or work to repair the local environment. If
you want to include evangelism as a secondary goal, that is fine,
but the criteria you will be graded on is how you make a
difference in the day-to-day lives of the people you work with.
Where: You will travel overseas. To keep your project
manageable, you must choose one of the locations on the
Country List, which is included as an attachment to this
assignment. Because of the size of the team and your time
frame, you should narrow down your area within the country to
fit your project. For example, you can’t expect to provide
vaccines to the entire country of Brazil, but you could
reasonably expect to provide this service to a small town in the
country. So you will need to find an area within your chosen
country to focus on. The people that you serve in this area are
members of your target population.Requirements for the
assignment:
This assignment will have two parts.
Part 1: You create a PowerPoint presentation describing the trip
and explaining why the specific country has been chosen. The
presentation should have a minimum of eight slides – a title
slide, one for each category below, and a reference slide. All
important information should be on the face of the slides but
you can submit speaker notes for greater detail. In addition, you
will need a minimum of three scholarly resources (see the
resource list below for ideas) and the presentation should
address the following areas:
1. An overview of your purpose for the project: Where are
going, and what service will you be providing? Remember,
evangelism cannot be the sole purpose of your trip or even the
primary purpose.
2. Cultural and social aspects of the country and its population
12. that led you to choose this area of the world.
3. How your choice of project works toward fulfillment of the
Judeo-Christian-Islamic ideal to love your neighbor as yourself:
How does your personal worldview and the possible worldviews
of your target population influence your plans for the trip?
4. Information about your target population: Who are you
planning to serve? How does this population compare to the
population of the country as a whole? You will also need to do a
calculation to project either the general or the target population
in 5 years in the spreadsheet but it does not need to be
discussed in the presentation. The World Factbook provides
population growth data to help you here.
5. Information about the economic situation in your country and
how your project will improve this.
6. Possible concerns that you need to keep in mind to keep your
team and your target population safe. This could be safety from
violence or from health problems (for example, will your team
need inoculations to travel to the country).
Part 2: A financial plan for your trip, which you will include in
the provided Excel spreadsheet. Your financial plan needs to
include the following information:
1. A list of expenses for all members of your trip. This must
include the following:
a. Travel expenses, such as plane or bus fare, passports/visas,
local travel within the country. Plane fare can be in U.S.
dollars, but the local travel will need to be in the local currency
of the country you visit.
b. Lodging expenses. If you plan to camp, you will include
expenses for your camping gear. If you are planning to stay
with a host church or host family, you should research the cost
of lodging in your target area and provide a per diem donation
that is commensurate with the local lodging rates. This will be
in the local currency.
c. Food expenses while you are overseas. Again, if you are
being fed by local residents, you will research the approximate
cost to feed your group and provide a per diem donation to
13. cover expenses. One way to do this is to research cost of living
in your country to find out what a local family would expect to
budget to pay for food. Again, these costs will be in the local
currency.
d. Supplies for your project. Provide at least four items that you
will need to complete your project. Depending on the nature of
your project, these might be in U.S. dollars, or in the local
currency, or they may be a mix.
e. For your expenses that are given in the local currency, a
conversion to U.S. dollars.
f. For each expense, you will use the CPI data from the Bureau
of Labor Statistics to calculate your estimated expense 5 years
in the future.
g. A grand total of all projected expenses 5 years from now.
2. Funding sources for your trip.
a. Sponsorship: You are going to assume that you can find a
sponsor who can provide 30% of your grand total of all
expenses for seed money, and you will invest that money in a
savings account for the next 5 years. Research current savings
rates and calculate what this amount will grow to over the next
5 years.
b. Savings: Your team will work on various fundraisers to save
for the trip, and you estimate that you can raise $100 a month
every month over the next 5 years, which you will also put into
a savings account. Using the savings rates you found in part a.,
calculate what these regular savings amounts will grow to over
the next 5 years.
c. Loan: If your sponsorship and savings totals do not cover
your expenses, then you will need to take out a loan for the
remainder of your expenses. Even if your sponsorship and
savings total do cover all expenses, then you will take out a
$10,000 loan for an additional emergency cushion. Research
loan rates from two banks, and calculate the monthly payment,
total that you pay back to the bank and total interest you will
pay for each loan. You will indicate in the spreadsheet which of
the two loans is a better choice for you and your reasons
14. why.Resources
You should plan to use the following resources to help you with
your plan. You can also use other resources, but at a minimum,
you will need the Excel Budget Spreadsheet, BLS CPI data, and
CIA World Factbook. Additionally, your paper requires three
scholarly sources.
· Country list.docx: Includes the list of countries you are
allowed to choose from for this project, along with some
important facts about the country’s make up.
· Bureau of Labor Statistics Consumer Price Data information:
https://data.bls.gov/cgi-bin/surveymost?cu which is the same as
on Worksheet 2.
· CIA World Fact Book: You must use this source. You will
find that it contains a wealth of demographic, economic, and
cultural information about your country.
https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/
· U.S. Department of State website: This site will give you
important information about your country, as well as
information about travel overseas.
https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/international-
travel/International-Travel-Country-Information-Pages.html
· Excel Budget Spreadsheet: Attached to the assignment
directions, and provides a compact way to explain your budget
and funding.
· Your course textbook
· GCU LibraryTips and formulas:
· This assignment uses a rubric. Please be sure to look at the
grading criteria and point values for each area of the rubric to
see how you will be graded on this assignment.
