Everest Base Camp Trek Best Time:
Spring aka pre-monsoon (late-February to May) and autumn aka post-monsoon (late-
September to December) are considered the best time to go on Everest Base Camp
Trekking. You can also go on EBC Trekking in January and early February, but do
remember the climate will be extremely cold (-20C/-4F to – 30C/-22F). You can face
heavy snowfalls anytime and need to have some extra days for any kind of weather
delays. Likewise, during the monsoon, the views are unclear and the trail also gets
slippery. Autumn begins just after the monsoon season, and the forest is full of lush
vegetation and perfect weather with amazing mountains view, similarly during this time
falls many festivals including Dashain and Tihar/Dipawali, so Everest Base Camp Trek
Best Time of Year is autumn (September, October, and November). The temperature
is neither hot nor cold during the autumn and spring season, during the spring you have
the chance to meet many expedition groups and see colorful Rhododendron blooming.

Transport for the Everest Base Camp Trek:
The airplane is the major means of transportation for the Everest Base Camp Trek.
Lukla is the getaway of the Khumbu region, where more than 40 flights are conducted
every day during trekking peak season. The flights are operated every day from
Kathmandu to Lukla by different airlines, such as; Tara Air, Sita Air, and Summit Air.
Normally, the early flight is most reliable due to good weather. The high mountains
weather is unpredictable; it could be covered by clouds or blowing strong wind anytime
after midday. As result, Lukla flights are often delayed or canceled for a day, so it would
be better to add some extra days to get back to Kathmandu if case weather is not
permitted to fly. There are helicopter services available for Lukla and back to
Kathmandu as another option. Even it is more costly, you won’t regret flying by
helicopter for your lifetime expiring in the Himalayan. Nowadays, the road has access to
nearby Lukla at Kharikhola and Bupsa, which is a day camp below Lukla. The jeep leaves
early morning from Chehabil, Kathmandu to the Salleri, and drives to Kharikhola talking
about a whole day. After completing the road to Lukla, and it is possible to drive
Kathmandu to Lukla by bus in one day with a chipper cost.

machine/UV Steripen) at every tea house on the Trek. The bottle of mineral water
has been banned by the local government of Kumbu since 2020 January to minimize
pollution. So, you have the option to buy boiling water and treat the water yourself. The
cost of boiled drinking water soars as you travel higher along the elevation. The average
range of cost is NPR 50 to NPR 150 Lukla to Namche Bazaar and then increases
afterward. To minimize the Everest Base Camp Trek cost also is better to use
Iodine/Chlorine/ Filter machine /UV Steripen to purify raw tap water.
How Difficult Is Everest Base Camp Trek:
Everest Base Camp Trek is measured as Moderate to Strenuous for its difficulty level.
Most of the trail goes gradually up making zigzag through the alpine jungle, rugged cliff
on the mountain paths, from where amazing view awarded while taking a rest and a
chat with fellow. However, there is some steep ascent in some parts of the trip. The day
third from Phakding to Namche is not an easy path, the trail ascent rapidly at
confluence Bhote Koshi and Dudha Koshi to the naturally blessed Namche Bazaar, and
on the next day the part of Punge Thagna to Tengboche also quite difficult due to its
ascent. Likewise, the day eighth from Dingboche to Lobuche at Thukla Tea house to the
top of the Thukla Pass needs more effort as the hardest part of the trek. And while
climbing to the most popular viewpoint at Kalapathar also another difficult part of the
Trek. Everest base camp trek difficulty depends on every trekker’s physical fitness,
following day’s weather circumstance. Here is some fact about Everest base camp trek

NOTE
*Notice on Kathmandu to Lukla Flight Issue:
It is informed that the Government of Nepal has announced a Lukla flight from Manthali,
Ramechhap due to heavy air traffic at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) at
Kathmandu, the flight to Lukla will conduct from Ramechhap in anticipation of further
notice. Ramechhap is located 139 km East-North from Kathmandu with approximately 4
to 5 hours drive from Kathmandu.
As alternatively, if you would like to direct a flight from Kathmandu to Luka, then there
are Helicopter flights which can be made on a 5 passenger basis with an additional 500
US$ per person for one way to change your airplane flights to the helicopter. We will do
our best to coordinate with the airline to make groups at the airport for the helicopter
flight, but we can’t give guarantee it. Fly to Lukla from Manathali airport, Ramechhap is
almost always guaranteed unless sometime the flight is delayed or canceled due to not
favorable weather at Lukla.
Travelers are suggested to inform us of the chosen alternatives for the flights to/from
Lukla affected due to possible delays or interruptions. For more details please go
through the Lukla Flight from Ramechhap.
**Note: Sometimes we could face the problem of internal flights to/from Lukla delayed
by few hours or canceled for a day because of bad weather. It happens very rarely, but
it could even in the best trekking season also as you know how climate change is

affecting our globe. Therefore, we always recommend you to add one supplement night
in Kathmandu after your base camp trek if possible (just in case). If everything runs
smoothly, you can enjoy other activities like sightseeing, rafting, shopping, as you wish in
that additional day overnight at the hotel.
If you do not need a porter for the trip, the trekking cost will be reduced from the
original price. Nepal Mother House gives you some clues to make less cost for the
Solo traveler also. Please contact us in our email for more details with your
requirements.
