Assessment of Alcohol-Alkali Method for Determining Rice Milling Degree. Assessed the method and
accuracy in comparison with the mathematical and standard whiteness meter for use by rice millers in the
countryside of the Philippines. Results indicated comparable readings of percent milling degree with the
known methods and certain degree of accuracy at 95% level of confidence.
Optimizing thin layer drying of Oregano leaves. Oregano leaves and stems dried in a laboratory tray type
drier and investigated on the optimum conditions using airflow rates, temperatures, and thickness of the
layer on the tray.
Optimization of Heated air composting of swine wastes. Composting of swine wastes was investigated
using vessels as composters in the presence of enzymes and bacteria. Results indicated optimum
conditions using microbe liftTM bacteria at 0.1 m3/s and temperature of 50oC in 5 days of composting.
However, composts at this stage required curing of 3 to 4 weeks prior to applying to crops for production.
Optimization of Dairy Wastes Composting. Investigations involved composting fresh dairy wastes in
vessels aerated with heated air using microbe liftTM bacteria. Results indicated optimum conditions at 0.1
m3/s airflow rate, 45oC air temperature and initial weights of 2 kg dairy wastes. Composts required 4
weeks of curing prior to application to crops for production.

Assessed the method and accuracy in comparison with the mathematical and standard whiteness meter for use by rice millers in the countryside of the Philippines. Results indicated comparable readings of percent milling degree with the known methods and certain degree of accuracy at 95% level of confidence. Optimizing thin layer drying of Oregano leaves. Oregano leaves and stems dried in a laboratory tray type drier and investigated on the optimum conditions using airflow rates, temperatures, and thickness of the layer on the tray. Optimization of Heated air composting of swine wastes. Composting of swine wastes was investigated using vessels as composters in the presence of enzymes and bacteria. Results indicated optimum conditions using microbe liftTM bacteria at 0.1 m3/s and temperature of 50oC in 5 days of composting. However, composts at this stage required curing of 3 to 4 weeks prior to applying to crops for production. Optimization of Dairy Wastes Composting. Investigations involved composting fresh dairy wastes in vessels aerated with heated air using microbe liftTM bacteria. Results indicated optimum conditions at 0.1 m3/s airflow rate, 45oC air temperature and initial weights of 2 kg dairy wastes.
