Evaluation question 1
1. Evaluation Question 1
In what ways does your media product use, develop or
challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
Michael Onaolapo
2. Hunter Hayes-
Invisible
Hunter Hayes music video uses a wide shot near the
beginning. I believed that he did this to centre the attention
around him. But this did not work out well as the shining lights
of the car behind were sometimes very distracting. I tried to
challenge this by using the same wide shot and slowly zooming
in to exclude any other things which may be taking the
audiences attention. By using this shot I made sure that the
meaning I encoded would be decoded correctly by the
audience
3. Drake- Over
I wanted to imitate drakes music video, putting the main lyrics
as part of the video. I did this to not only convey emotion
through what was happening during the video but also
adding emphasis and emotion through some of the lyrics. If I
was to do this again, I would have probable got the character
also say the lyrics.
4. Miley Cyrus-
Wrecking Ball
Miley Cyrus's iconic video called wrecking ball was a hit in
the charts. In a sense I imitated Sinead Oconors’s close up in
her music video. Miley Cyrus also imitated this close up. I
imitated this because with both Sinead Oconors and Cyrus's
close up in their music video, the facial expressions clearly
showed real emotion regarding the meaning of their music
video. All three videos have a common factor of someone
they had with them being gone. This also lead me to try and
imitate the close up.
5. John Newman-
Love me again
I also attempted to recreate a part of John Newman's Love
me again. This is one of the scenes when Newman is on the
stage singing. At first I attempted to imitate this. Later on I
thought it would be better to challenge and develop it the
main character in my music video playing a guitar. Eventually
I showed people the developed one alongside the imitation.
The majority side with the view that the developed version
brings more naturalness.
