2. QUESTION 1.
In what ways does your media product
use, develop or challenge forms and
conventions of real media products?
3. QUESTION 1.
When starting from the beginning of my
magazine, I started to search through different

genre. I made this task which shows the

and-conventions-task.html
4. QUESTION 1.
As shown here, this is where I
have got my influences. The
similarities between mine and
the other is that the headline
between ‘contents’ and
‘glamour’ are both written in
block capitals. In the example
magazine, I feel that here was
a certain colour scheme being
made which I also made the
same which shows consistency
in my work
Also, the two pictures in
comparison to each other are
very similar as they are both
full length shots, and also they
are both posing in a very
unusual way to each other
5. QUESTION 1.
Here is another example of where I got my subheadings and picture idea from.
This is due to the similar background and fonts used to state the headlines.
Also, the images are similarly laid out with a range of images all closely laid
out together.
A black background is also used over the main cover image which makes the
reader more drawn to the subheadings.
When reading ‘Your Hair’ the subheadings caught my eye straight away.
Lastly, the top line of writing is different to the bottom line which is where I
my influence came from, this helps to contrast the colour of the writing with
the main colour pace of the magazine.
6. QUESTION 1.
When making my double page spread, I
had already made a few idea’s in my
head of how I wanted it to look,
however I still did research to make
sure that I was one hundred percent on
how I wanted to look. From what I
researched, I found a simple layout,
something similar to how I wanted mine
to look. For example the simple writing
on one side of the page overlapping an
image and one huge close up picture on
the left, avoiding direct address.
Simple colours, for example black was
also used here to show a ‘retro’ look
which indicates the look that the artist
is going for.
8. QUESTION 2.
I feel that, my whole magazine will be aimed
girls for the younger generation, for example
older teenage girls who inspire in famous pop
artist, and younger adults. My magazine genre
is a pop magazine, which features very strong
and powerful artists, such as the likes of
Cheryl Cole. When making my cover artists
Sasha Blue, I had Cheryl Cole in the back of
mind as I wanted Sasha Blue to carry out the
same type of attitude she did, subtle and very
positive role model to the younger generation.
Sasha Attwood has created a powerful role
which show that she is on top and concurring
her music career. This attitude also sets of a
good vibe to all the teenage models that
would be inspired by magazines such as
‘Fusion’.
9. QUESTION 2.
The supporting act I have used give off a subtle, however carefree
attitude which fits in with my whole genre of my magazine and also
contrasts well with Sasha Blue. This will affect my target audience as
the ‘carefree teenage’ age will be interested and inspired by my
supporting acts. I have dressed them so that ‘Haleigh Hales’ is looking
stylish and ‘Dylan Roscoe’ pulls out the carefree/cheeky look.
12. QUESTION 3.
The reason why I have chosen Bauer distribution is
because they produce Q magazine which I have
previously been looking at as in inspiration to make my
magazine what it is at its final piece.
14. QUESTION 4.
The audience for my music magazine is going to be
more from a female’s perspective however, male’s
could also be interested as for example, one of my
supporting acts ‘Dylan Roscoe’ is a male and it
mainly interest’s his new music and how he started off
which can inspire both male and female.
16. QUESTION 5.
Colour scheme
In my magazine, I think that the colours I have chosen is what sets the target
audience to be attracted to it. As I said before, my magazine is mainly targeted
at females which, the bright vibrant colours help make it a girly touch.
The colour baby pink shows the girly touch of the magazine which is very
calming and subtle. The colour baby pink is set in the background which has a
chilled affect, this makes all the other vibrant and brighter colours stand out.
For example, the black shows the fierce attitude that is being show to the
audience to set the mood to make them want to read the ‘juicy gossip’
revealed inside. Whereas the hot pink also shows a fierce attitude but also a
hot intense attitude is let off, showing the dominant role from a female’s
perspective.
The dark blue on the contents page shows that throughout the different
pages, theres isn’t only things for females but also for males. The dark blue
takes a seat, and step back to go for the chilled look so that the audience
aren’t thrown straight away when seeing what is available in the magazine.
All these colours put together also represent Sasha Blue as a person and also
music artist which explains her choice of music.
17. QUESTION 5.
Masthead-
When researching different ideas of names for my
magazine, I came across a few. When exceeding with my
various names, I decided which name best suited my
genre, type of magazine, audience and the age gap which
then resulted to ‘Fusion’. I decided to have fusion because
my magazine is a range of different artists and information
that suits both girls and boys all fitted into one. When
looking through my research, I came across Fusion
Festival. When continuing research about the festival, it
started to sound like the fun and excitement I wanted my
magazine to include.
Main Headline:
‘Sasha Blue, the music that changed my life’ I decided to
keep my main headline simple and involve my main artist.
This gives a mysterious atmosphere to the audience
however doesn’t put them on edge too much because
they know who the magazine is mainly going to be about
straight away which make them decide whether this
magazine is for them or not. This also links in with my
main cover image as Sasha Blue is giving direct address
which welcomes the audience in.
18. QUESTION 5.
The hottest artist- This is again
thrown out to females and
males, because there’s a
range of genders to be looking
at and also finding out about
including my back up artists
Haleigh Hales and Dylan
Roscoe. I have placed Haleigh
at an age of 18 and Dylan at
19. However, this doesn’t
mean that the audience has to
also be this age, they could
possibly have little fans from
infant ages who inspire to be

I compared this when
making my final magazine as
I could see where the areas
were where I needed to
tamper with things.
24. QUESTION 7.
Looking back at the preliminary
task, what do you feel you have learnt
in the progression from it to the full
product?
25. QUESTION 7.
Preliminary task Final Task
My preliminary task lacks
codes and conventions
compared to my final
piece.
The main image isn’t as
fierce along with lack of
detail in the masthead. The
cover lines are also very
weak as there is very few
which shows the audience
lack of interest. There’s
very little detail added to
the front cover which
doesn’t tell you much
about what is going on
inside.
26. QUESTION 7.
Preliminary task Final Task
Again, in my preliminary task, the
contents were very plain with basic
colours with the same font throughout.
This again, lack of interest to the
audience which can be taken in offence.
The only theme running through this
was the colour which didn’t send off any
message to the reader apart from a
negative vibe by choice of colour.
Also, when looking through the
pages, there is only 5 pages which will
not interest anybody. However in
comparison to my final piece, the
colours are still very simple however
sends of a relaxed and calm
message, there are also many more
pages so the audience can be
interested by many more juicy gossip.
The font used shows clearly a
strong/determined attitude as block
capitals is used with a dark font to set
27. QUESTION 8.
How successful do you feel your end
product is in fulfilling the task? How well
does it fit the brief?
28. QUESTION 8.
So, over all I am very happy with my final piece as from looking back at previous attempts I feel
that I have successful improved. I feel that I have completed my task to the best of my ability and
have created a music magazine with the genre of ‘Pop’ as intended from the start, with influences
from many different magazines. From looking through my work now it is all finished, I can see that
I have correctly stuck to a positive colour scheme and also covered a lot of the codes and
convention tasks again, to the best of my ability. I have also tried my best to stick to the theme that
would best suit my target audience and keep up to date with what they would be expecting to find.
Looking over my work again, I feel that my double page spread is most powerful as it has less
negative space, and looks more professional however I am very pleased with my outcome.
