The document discusses the technical quality, skills developed, alignment with original intentions, time management, target audience, and lessons learned from a final major project documentary. It notes issues with audio syncing that impacted quality. It discusses interview footage that exceeded the time limit, requiring choosing one interview. Time management was a major issue, impacting quality and completion of items in the production schedule. Feedback from a survey indicated the documentary generally suited its intended audience but could have been improved with more interviews or illness-focused information. If done again, more planning, shooting, editing and addressing feedback would be prioritized to improve quality.
1. Technical quality of final product (images, footage, use of sound, editing, layout, composition)
The overall technical qualityof myFinal MajorProjectisgood,I personallybelieve itwouldhave
beena lotbetterif I had justmanagedmytime a lotmore, thisis because the audioandthe video
that I had to synctook a verylongtime,butbecause I was messingaroundanddidn’tdomy workI
fell behindcausingmytonot be able to audiosyncthe footage withbetteraudio.Thismeanswhen
youwatch the FMP, you can notice a dramaticchange in the audioquality.Thismightbe my overall
downfall.
The camera itself wasdecent; thismeansthe shotsIgot were of a good enoughquality.
Production skills you have newly acquired and existing skills you have further developed
The skillsIusedto create thisDocumentary were the standardknowinghow touse a camera and
tripod.I alsoadditionallylearnedhowtouse the audio recorder;thisallowedme togetbetteraudio
for myfootage.WhenI came aroundto actuallyrecordingpeople formyinterview section.Ihadto
ask the Creatorof the programme fora few pointers.Thiswasbecause Ididn’twanttoask questions
that wouldhave made themfeel uncomfortable.Indoingthis,Isatthere forabout an hourlearning
differentquestioningtechniques.Alsobecause Iama masterPractitioner, andI have beenon
several of these programmesandIhave methundredsof P.T.S.D.suffers,Ihada huge
understandingaboutquestioningtechniquesandhow tonot make people feel uncomfortable.AlsoI
askedMick Stott(The Creator andleadpractitioner) if he wouldsitwiththe interviewee’sandjust
run thoughthe questions,makingsure itwasall okay.
AfterI hadcapturedall the footage IneededIthenuploadeditall ontothe computerandopenedup
adobe premiere pro.Ithenuploadedthemone byone intopremierwiththe audiofile;syncingthem
witheachotherand renderingthembackoutintoa differentfolder.Thistookupa HUGE chunk of
my time leftforthisproject.Thiswastakingsolong thatfor a few of the clipsIdidn’thave enough
time to sync. That’swhy whenyouwatchmy documentaryyounotice amajor shiftinaudioquality.
WhenI had themall syncedI thenhadto spendthe time listeningtothemandcuttingkeybits. And
makingsure it all made sense.WhenIcame to clippingthe actual interview itself Ifoundmyself with
a problem.Thiswasbecause altogetherIhad justunder an hourof footage, andthe documentary
couldonlybe about 10 minuteslong.Thisleftme withaproblembecause Ifeltlikeinall the
interviewsIcouldn’tclipthem.Thiswasbecause of the contextandinformation.SoIhad to choose
one interview anduse thatone.Ithencut it downa little, clippedMickStott’sclipsandblended
themtogether.AfterdoingthisIre watchedit, made any correctionsandrenderedthe final product
out. Addingitto YouTube thenuploadingitontomyblog.
How closely your final product matches your original intentions (outlined in your Final Major
Project proposal)
My Final MajorProjectfitsinverynicelywithmy proposal;there isjustone thingthat I had to
change.
Because of the lengthof my interviews, andthe mass volume of sensitive information,Ifound
myself withanhourof footage anda 10 minuetlong documentary;thiswashardfor me because I
feltlike Icouldn’tcutany of the clipsbecause theywere all sogreat.Thismade me change the idea
for myFMP. Insteadof followingpeople through the programme,Idecidedtojustuse footage of
2. one of the coaches, someone whoIknow verywell andIthinkhisstoryis amazing.Butthe overall
FMP fitsinreallywell withthe projectproposal.I’ve gotmicktalkingabouttreatments,andJezz
talkingabouthimself andhisstory, thenMickat the endgivinga message aboutthe helpoutthere.
Time management and problem solving (scheduling, practical constraints and strategies you
used to overcome constraints)
Time managementwasamajor issue forme inthisproject, thiswas because Ididn’texactlyplanmy
time well andIwastedcountlesshoursof lessontime.Thisonthe overall will impactmyFinal grade
because Ididn’thave the time to doall my renderingandaudiosyncing, bringingthe overall quality
of myDocumentarydowncratingmy grade to go down.
Alsoonmy productionSchedule,Iwrote a few thingsonthere thatI didn’tevencomplete. One of
thembeingmusicformy documentary.Ididn’tcompletethisbecause Ididn’tneedmusicformy
documentary.Thiswasbecause Ihad toomuch footage as itwas, and I feltthat if I addedtime for
musicit wouldhave justcreatedextrahassle formyself. AlsoIdidn’tneedto create draftsformy
script,or gatherfacts, thismeansthat myproductiondiarydata isfaultybecause it’sfull of sections
that I haven’tcompletedbutIdidn’tneedtocomplete.
Reaching your target audience (audience response, your reactions to positive and negative
criticism with reference to audience feedback you have gathered)
I feel thatmydocumentaryhitmytarget audience withperfection.Itrulybelieve thatthe audienceI
was goingfor, and the generaof people thatIaimedat wouldlove mydocumentary,Ithinkitwasa
brilliantbalance of informationandfacts,showingoff someoneelse’sexperiencesandshowinghow
they’ve changedwouldreallyhelppeople whoneedit,alsoif peoplesfamilymemberssee myvideo,
and wantto get involvedinhelpingsomeone theycando.
The onlybit I wouldbe a bitunsure aboutisbecause one of my targetaudienceswouldhave been
the familiesof the P.T.S.DsuffererbutIdidn’tputany clipsinof peoplesfamily’ssoIthinkIcould
have metthat target audience abitbetter.Insayingthat there isa sectionwhere Jezztalksabout
the effecthe washavingon hisfamily.
Survey:
I askeda numberof people towatchmy 10 minute documentaryandtell me whattheythought
aboutit, I asked several questionstodowiththe target audience andthe informationheldinthe
documentary.The resultswere:
QuestionOne:Do you thinkthe Documentaryissuitable formyintendedtargetaudience (P.T.S.D.
sufferersandtheirfriendsandfamily’s)?
7 Outof 10 saidtheythoughtthe documentarywassuitable forthe targetaudience
2 outof the 10 said itwas okayfor the target audience butcouldbe better
1 outof 10 saidit didn’thitthe targetaudience.
3. Questiontwo: What type of targetaudience do youthinkwouldsuitmydocumentary?
8 outof 10 agreedand saidthat the targetaudience shouldbe the one Iselected.
1 outof 10 saidit shouldhave beenaninformational documentarymeantforawiderrange of
people
1 outof 10 saidthe documentaryshouldhave beenaboutraisingawarenesstodowiththe mental
illness.
Questionthree:Do you think,withthe camerabeingstationary,thatthe documentarygota bit

6 outof 10 saidalthoughthe documentarydidhave muchmovementtoit,theyagreed thatthe

Questionfour: Do youthink the informationwassuitableformytargetaudience?
8 outof 10 agreedthat the informationwasgoodforthe target audience
1 outof 10 saidthe informationcouldhave beenabitmore illnessfocused

verygoodand interesting.
So outof the informationIgatheredfrommysurveyIbelieve thatthe documentarydidhititstarget
audience, maybe withafewsnagsanda few thigsI couldhave changedto make itbetter. But
overall Ithinkitdidhit the targetaudience.
Summary conclusion of how you would respond to your project brief if you were to do it again
If I gotgiventhisbrief again,andtoldto do itagain,I woulddoso manythingsdifferently.For
startersI wouldn’thave wastedall thattime doingnothing,Iwouldhave done myworkrightfrom
the beginning.Iwouldhave spentalotmore time thinkingandplanning.Ialsowouldhave takenmy
time frame more seriously.
I wouldplanahead,andgetmy planningandpre-productionoutthe wayasquicklyaspossible.And
spenta lotmore time shooting,andgettingbetterqualityfootageandaudio.ThenIwouldhave
spenta much largertime editingitall togethermakingsure Ihad enoughtime tosyncall my footage
withthe audio,andmakingsure that theyblendedincorrectly,givingmydocumentaryalotmore of
a qualityfinish.
ThenI wouldhave askeda fewpeople towatchmyvideoandtell me if there wasanythingmajorly
wrongwithit, and I wouldhave spentthe time editingittohow I got my feedback, makingsure
audience preference iskey.
