Global Statement : Individuals and groups vary as to the amount of influence they can exert in making and carrying out decisions that affect people’s lives significantly (Taba, 1971).

4. Content Specific: As a community, we become responsible for all members. We must consider all factors of our immediate community carefully, and it is our responsibility to consider individuals carefully and to work together to solve communal issues.

6. Emerging Questions: What are the causes of tensions that arise when community and institution conflicts? What are some ways that we can use our societal values to work through these issues? What sorts of issues might arise in terms of power structure when there exists a tension between institutions and community? What characteristics distinguish individuals, groups, and institutions?
