The European Commission organized a one-day workshop in Barcelona, Spain on May 31st, 2016 for public procurers in the general and e-government sectors. The workshop was part of the European Assistance for Innovation Procurement initiative to promote innovation procurement across Europe. The agenda included presentations on innovation procurement best practices, funding opportunities through Horizon 2020, and interactive sessions providing guidance on conducting pre-commercial procurement and public procurement of innovative solutions. Attendees could learn about innovation procurement benefits and get practical advice in preparing their own procurements. The event aimed to encourage the use of procurement to modernize public services while creating economic opportunities.
