Estonia is a small country in Northern Europe that was occupied by the Soviet Union from 1939 to 1991 but regained its independence in 1991. It has a population of 1.3 million people and its capital and largest city is Tallinn. Estonia has a parliamentary democracy government and has four seasons in its climate.
La Svezia è uno stato grande 447.435 kmq. Questo stato è entrato a far parte dell'Unione Europea nel 1° Gennaio 1995 senza adottare l'Euro, infatti la sua moneta ufficiale è la Corona Svedese.
1. Estonia
• Territorio L’ Estonia è delimitata a est dalla
Federazione Russa a sud dalla Lettonia a
nord e a ovest dai golfi di Finlandia e
Riga. Il territorio è costituito da una
vasta pianura a tratti paludosa con
modesti rilievi collinari di origine
morenica; il 44% del territori è occupato
da boschi e foreste, le coste sono basse
e articolate, le più importanti isole sono
Saaremaa e Hiumaa. Il clima continentale
con inverni molto freddi ed estati brevi e
fresche non è molto influenzato dal mar
Baltico che è poco profondo e in inverno
ghiacciato.
2. Popolazione
L’ Estonia è la repubblica meno
popolata di quelle baltiche, la
gran parte della popolazione è
costituita da estoni (68,6%)
però ci sono anche russi(25,7%).
Ci sono anche piccoli gruppi di
ucraini , bielorussi e finni. La
lingua più diffusa è l’estone ma
viene parlato anche il russo. Le
religioni più diffuse sono quella
protestante e quella ortodossa.

3. L’ economia
• Dopo l’indipendenza dall’Urss il paese ha
vissuto un passaggio all’ economia di
mercato,grazie anche agli investimenti
stranieri e alle buone relazioni con i paesi
dell’area scandinava soprattutto con la
vicina Finlandia. L’agricoltura fornisce
cereali, lino, ortaggi; nel settore primario
rivestono una grande importanza le
attività forestali e l’allevamento bovino
che, insieme alla pesca sostiene l’industria
agro alimentare.
• Il paese può contare su un apparato
industriale abbastanza diversificato e
moderno, con un forte sviluppo del
settore elettronico e delle
telecomunicazioni. In crescita sono pure il
settore commerciale, assicurativo e
finanziario favoriti dall’ ingresso nell’
unione europea.
4. Le città
• La capitale dell’ Estonia è Tallinn con
396 000 abitanti, sul golfo di
Finlandia, attivo porto commerciale e
peschereccio, a soli 80 km da
Helsinki. La città fu fondata dai danesi
nel XIII secolo e conserva molti
elementi medievali. Passata ai
cavalieri tedeschi dell’ ordine
teutonico e quindi alla Svezia, fu
conquistata nel 1710 dalla Russia, che
ne fece la base della flotta del Baltico.
• Tartu con 102 000 è la seconda città
del paese e ospita un antica
università fondata nel 1632.
Pärnu, affacciata sul golfo di riga, è
un importante centro balneare.
Narva situata nel nord est del
paese, proprio al confine con la
Federazione Russa, è un centro
industriale.
