This systematic review estimates HIV prevalence and risk behaviors among transgender persons in the United States, highlighting significant issues such as physical abuse, social isolation, and unmet healthcare needs impacting this population. The findings indicate that 27.7% of male-to-female transgender women tested positive for HIV, with increased rates among African American individuals, and a substantial percentage of transgender persons reported engaging in high-risk behaviors. The review underscores the necessity for further research to inform the development of effective prevention interventions tailored to the unique needs of transgender populations.
