Loosely coupled services in a Microservices architecture enable swift changes in business logic to meet changing business requirements. The plug & play capability of a Microservices application architecture makes more accessible and faster application development and upgrades possible.
In a microservices architecture, any application can be divided into multiple small services, where each service runs a unique process and usually manages its own database. A service can generate alerts, log data, support user interfaces (UIs), handle user identification or authentication, and perform various other tasks.
Developers can quickly build or change an individual Microservice, then plug it into the main architecture with a low risk of coding conflicts and service outages. Moreover, due to the independence of each microservice, teams do not have to worry about coding conflicts or wait for slower-moving sub-projects to complete before launching their part of the application.
Microservices also support the CI/CD/CD (Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery, Continuous Deployment) development philosophy.
This means that businesses can quickly deploy the core microservices of an application, as a minimum viable product (MVP), and then continuously update the product over time as additional Microservices get completed. The result is a “future-proof” product that’s constantly & quickly evolving with the times.
Three main factors make microservices viable software architecture.
1. Containers enable a consistent and resource-efficient means of packaging individual services. Docker is a popular tool.
2. Orchestration tools, such as Kubernetes, help with automating scaling, deployment, and container management.
3. Service mesh is a layer of infrastructure dedicated to communication between individual services. When hundreds of services communicate with each other, it becomes complicated to determine which services are interacting with each other. Service mesh makes those communications faster, more secure, visible, and reliable by capturing behaviors such as latency-aware load balancing and service discovery.

Even as payment enterprises deal with higher asset values, confront stronger opponents, and heightened predispose variables exacerbated by pandemic, they are being pushed quickly towards change.
Payment volumes reached record highs before the epidemic, and are set to witness strong growth, although at a slower rate, indicating both the increased dependence on non-cash transactions & the impact of a sluggish international market.

Generating a custom Ruby SDK for your web service or Rails API using Smithyg2nightmarescribd
Have you ever wanted a Ruby client API to communicate with your web service? Smithy is a protocol-agnostic language for defining services and SDKs. Smithy Ruby is an implementation of Smithy that generates a Ruby SDK using a Smithy model. In this talk, we will explore Smithy and Smithy Ruby to learn how to generate custom feature-rich SDKs that can communicate with any web service, such as a Rails JSON API.
Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.
Connector Corner: Automate dynamic content and events by pushing a buttonDianaGray10
Here is something new! In our next Connector Corner webinar, we will demonstrate how you can use a single workflow to:
Create a campaign using Mailchimp with merge tags/fields
Send an interactive Slack channel message (using buttons)
Have the message received by managers and peers along with a test email for review
But there’s more:
In a second workflow supporting the same use case, you’ll see:
Your campaign sent to target colleagues for approval
If the “Approve” button is clicked, a Jira/Zendesk ticket is created for the marketing design team
But—if the “Reject” button is pushed, colleagues will be alerted via Slack message
Join us to learn more about this new, human-in-the-loop capability, brought to you by Integration Service connectors.

The Art of the Pitch: WordPress Relationships and SalesLaura Byrne

All these questions and more will be explored as we talk about matching clients’ needs with what your agency offers without pulling teeth or pulling your hair out. Practical tips, and strategies for successful relationship building that leads to closing the deal.
Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.

e-Top Up platform
e-Top Up is part of the Estel Prepaid Recharge Suite, which includes e-Top Up,
e-Voucher & Voucher Management solutions on a common framework.
World’s 1st
e-Top Up platform on Microservices
A network of retail agents vend voucher-less top up
(airtime or prepaid credit) to subscribers using their own
phones, using prepaid airtime ‘stock’ which they have
pre-purchased from operators or their distributors
Subscribers top up their own prepaid accounts with
airtime or credit by using a m-App or a web portal and
paying using any digital payment mode
e-distributors integrate their IT systems to the operator’s
e-Recharge platform over a secure API, for airtime
vending via their distribution network
Payment operators & specialized e-distributors connect
their IT systems to the operator’s e-Recharge platform,
to sell e-Vouchers (electronic PINs) using their Point of
Sale Terminals
Historically, prepaid users have used scratch cards to
recharge services when they run out of credit. Scratch cards
create costs, logistics & scalability issues for operators due
to printing, storage & transportation requirements & are
prone to risks of damage, theft & fraud.
Operators find it convenient & profitable to replace physical
scratch cards with electronic recharge, where:
Eliminates scratch cards and their associated risks,
logistics, costs & scalability issues
Subscribers recharge any amount they want
Retailers purchase airtime value and not PINs, eliminating
the risk of stock-outs
No risk of theft or damage, as agents’ stock is in a secure
wallet on operator’s system
Agents use their mobile phones to buy & sell airtime top
up anytime, anywhere
Recharge any prepaid service: mobile, internet, electricity,
toll, TV
Results in significantly increased distribution, as small &
mid sized agents can also sell top up, due to ease of
buying & selling and no minimum stocking requirements
