2. THE IMPORTANCE OF WRITING SKILLS
Writing is one of the basic skills which a person acquires in the formative years. Unfortunately, this area is not
being given the due importance. In my opinion, having superior writing skills is imperative.
For some people, writing is an important way of expressing thoughts, and communicating ideas and views to
others. These people have the innate ability to put their thoughts into words, through novels, short stories,
biographies, and even personal diaries.
In business, writing has become an essential form of communication. Electronic mail is used to send business
correspondence within an organization. Also, recruiters receive thousands of applications which must be
presented in an elegant and systematic way in order to create a favourable impact on the recruiting authority.
Often, a person is judged by the quality of writing. Be it a school, college, workplace or a society, writing has
become vital to assess a person's knowledge. When we come across a person whose appearance is proper,
we immediately make an impression about that person being careful and responsible. Similarly, if the writing
is devoid of mistakes, we tend to create a good impression about the writer.
If the art of writing were considered an important asset at school, young people would have better chances of
success in their adult life.

And with your great- grandparents?
How often do/did you see them?
What is/was the role of the elderly in your life?
How have they contributed to who you are? What have
you learnt from them?
6. HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT THESE STATEMENTS? AGREE DISAGREE
Older people can serve as role models for the younger generations.
As people get older in our society, we tend to ignore them and shut them
away
Once we become adults, and later parents, we sometimes believe we have
learnt the important things to get us through life and our parents can teach
us no more
They know first-hand what it's like to live through tragedies and triumphs,
times of war and peace, both personally and as a member of a society.
Youngsters will know about their family traditions from elderly people only.
Older people can help you to acquire this skill and teach you how to interact
with impossible people.
They show from their example that time once lost cannot be regained.
