Bulimia Nervosa: Argument Although bulimia nervosa can be treated in multiple fashions, there is
a specific treatment that is proven to be the most effective in not only bulimia nervosa, but also
other anxiety related disorders. This effective treatment is an specific form of short term
psychotherapy. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is productive in both reducing the amount of times
one may purge in a day and diminishing the entire disorder altogether; it is a diverse set of problem
specific interventions. According to Brian Sheldon, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a
psychological approach for the treatment of family, personal, and mental problems. This technique
is intended to help clients ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unlike interpersonal psychotherapy, with the use of medication, CBT attains several forms of
intervention and models that can be used for certain situations. These forms are tailored not only
to the affected patient but also toward the patient s family. There is therapy for the perfect,
overprotective, and chaotic family. These forms all have specifics that set their therapeutic
sessions apart, but are similar in that they all begin with a technique called joining. Joining is
basically an establishment of alliance between the therapist and the family (Killian). Therapists
are advised to discover how the family members feel toward the problem in this situation. A way
of ensuring family involvement would be to set specific guidelines about the affect patient s
behavior and the family s reactions toward the behavior. For example, a therapist may initiate a
plan in which the patient must be responsible for replacing the family food in which he/she binges
on. This activity will enhance the removal of the rest of the family to be in constant fear for the
patient; it will also allow the patient to begin to regain control of one aspect of his/her life.
Common goals within this type of family include regulation of emotional availability between the
parent(s) and the bulimic patient, facilitation of direct communication, and negotiation of conflict
and its resolution (Killian). Besides interventions, there are also models that can be used to deal

Examples Of Feminism In The Scarlet Letter
In American Literature, a common theme has been the feminist literary theory. Feminism is the
belief that women and men should be equal without apology. This is easily related to the novel, The
Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne. In the story, Hester Prynne has a baby with a man she
wasn t married to. For her punishment she had to wear a scarlet A to mark her shame. The secret
father of her child, Reverend Arthur Dimmesdale, is filled with guilt and her husband, Roger
Chillingworth, seeks revenge. This is all being told by the nameless narrator, who has a lot in
common with the author,Nathaniel Hawthorne. The narrator is a surveyor of the Salem Custom
House. He hates it there as spends his days trying to entertain and keep himself busy. One... Show

Hester. Then tried to make her tell who the father was, wear the letter, give up her child and so

you fail me in this, beware! His reputation, his career, and his life will be in my hands. Beware!
On page 111 hester was scolded for cheating on her husband even though he had been gone for so
long. The women in the story were supposed to do nothing more than please their husbands..They
were expected to stay by their husbands side no matter what, remain faithful, and basically cater
to him. after caring for her husband, the woman was expected to tend to accommodate the
children s needs, fix all the meals, and make sure the house is nice the house is nice and tidy. But
not Hester! She played by her own rules. Hester was a single mom living simple. Hester never
sought to earn anything beyond substance for herself and a simple abundance for her child (131).

Medical Experiments In Holocaust Research
The Holocaust was a horrific genocide that started in 1933 and proceeded to last 12 years. It
included the killing of 6 million Jewish men, women, and children as well as gypsies and political
prisoners ( RavensbrГјck 1). Many escaped, especially those who were more fortunate (Thomson,
5), however others were not as lucky. This event has been documented by millions of sources,
however the medical experiments that were presented in Nazi camps and prisons in specific

Walter Fitzalan Personality
Born about the year 1108 and growing up at Oswestry, Walter FitzAlan knew wealth, privilege,
and warfare. And he was quick to capitalize on his background. In his late twenties, Walter joined
forces with some of the most powerful Norman figures in England, engaging a series of battles in
which the throne of England was at stake. On one side was the claimant Stephen of Blois, and
opposing him Matilda (called Maud ), the daughter of recently deceased King Henry I. In these
contests, Walter FitzAlan linked up with Scotlands King David and also with one of King Henry s
sons named Reginald Dunstanville, a half brother of Maud [10]. Although their cause on behalf of
Maud was eventually lost, firm relationships between Walter FitzAlan, Reginald... Show more

David granted Walter the lands of Kerkert and Strathgryffe (much of the land of Renfrewshire) and
it was here, in Paisley, that Walter established his home. He built a structure called Blackhall Manor
that served him and his descendants for generations [12]. Blackhall served as an ancestral home for
subsequent generations of his family who served as hereditary stewards of Scotland. In the
centuries to follow these hereditary stewards ascended to the Scottish throne as kings, adopting the
surname Stewart for themselves and ultimately forming the Stuart dynasty that ruled Scotland,
Ireland, and England during the 17th century [13]. Thus Blackhall Manor can be thought a cradle
of kings, as the Stuart dynasty of Scotland and England find their beginnings in Walter FitzAlan at
Blackhall. Also at Paisley, Walter endowed a Cluniac monastery in Paisley in Renfrewshire,
importing monks from Shropshire, which monastery grew into Paisley Abbey in Walter s lifetime.
In later years Walter would be buried

Tort And Business Law Essay
Law of Tort and Business Contracts Introduction According to law, tort occurs when a person
fails to observe duty imposed on one by law, to ensure there is no injury to a determinate person.
In most cases, the remedies for a tort are in the form of unliquidated damages for instance
different amounts of compensation, which are determined by the courts of law. The law seeks
to compensate the aggrieved party, unlike the criminal cases where the offenders are punished
according to law. However, certain cases in tort fall both in the civil and criminal law brackets.
Examples include assault and battery. The tort of negligence is addressed in this article, because
of its influence compared to the other torts of law. The liability attracted by negligence comes
from a basis of duty to practice reasonable care (Geistfeld, 2011, pg 144). First case analysis:

Crimes are illegal behaviour that could cause many problems. There are several approaches of

People cannot live in a place if it is not safe. Therefore, declining population in the cities is a
natural outcome. This paper aims to introduce the topic of crimes in a very broad sense and let the
reader find answers on his or her own. Subsequently, the purpose of this paper is to elaborate on
crimes in terms of their types, causes, and effects to reduce them.
First of all, I would like to clarify the types of crimes in our society. There are three kinds of
crimes: Personal Crimes, Property Crimes, and Cybercrimes. Personal crimes are violent crimes
that result in physical, emotional, or psychological harm to the victim depending on state laws
(Shoener). Also, there are many kinds of personal crimes. The first one is assault and beating.
Although assault and beating are two personal crimes, many states merge them into the one crime
of assault and beating because most of the assault crimes are punctuated by beating and violence to
the victim for threatening him or her. The second is homicide: it is the ugliest form of crime
because of the loss of life whether intentionally or unintentionally. In a homicide, it doesn t matter
what the tool is. Whether by weapon, fist or poison, the punishment will be the same dose no
matter what kind of tools they used. The third kind of personal crime is sexual abuse, often referred
to as molestation. It is defined as the undesirable touching of another, in a sexual manner, without
approval. Sexual abuse

The Scientific Revolution
The Scientific Revolution revolutionized the middle ages. The concepts of secularization, scientific
method, heliocentrism, as well as the creation of major fields of science. The Scientific Revolution
paved the way for modern science. Much of the work that created during the sixteenth and
seventeenth century is still considered to be the foundation of many major fields such as chemistry,
physics, astronomy and biology. During the revolution, sciencebegan to be excepted by both the
Protestant and the Catholic churches. Matter of fact, science was encouraged by the church.
However, the church had control over the scientist and would commonly censor individuals that
spoke out against the church. Scientific Methodis the combination of experimental observation and
mathematical deduction. This concept was used to determine the laws of nature. The Scientific
Method was first developed in the seventeenth century and became the standard of truth seeking.
The old Christian doctrine that was established by the scientific teachings of ancient philosophers
such as Ptolemy and Aristotle. According to The Making of the West by Lynn Hunt, Scientific
method of determining the laws of nature undermined traditional accounts of natural phenomena

18. Write an essay describing three ways in which Jinch Malrex is similar to The Farm Show and
the theatre group to which Miles belongs. Use examples from the article, from the information in
this lesson, or from The Drawer Boy to illustrate and support your comparison.
Organize your essay this way: * Introductory Paragraph. * Three paragraphs each paragraph
explains and supports one point of similarity. * Concluding Paragraph.
In The Drawer Boy, Miles tells a couple of farmers that he wants to do a play based on farming
in Ontario. He asks if he can observe their work and make notes to give his play some realistic
views. He explained that his play was going to be called The Farm Show. From the article that I
read, it talked about a play called Jinch Malrex. This play is also based in Ontario, more
specifically Toronto. The similarities between the two plays aren t as noticeable when you look
at them from the outside, but if you get down to the process of how the play was made, you
understand a little more about how they are similar. Three ways that The Farm Show and Jinch
Malrex are similar is in the process of how the play was created, the message the plays are trying to
create, and the locations of where they take place.
In the process of how the play was made for both Jinch Malrex and The Farm show, research was

Comparison Of Drowning Girl And Pablo Picasso s Guernica
From the very first week of joining Art 101 I knew that I wanted my final art project to be a trio
of paintings for my mother, to pay homage to her career as an artist. Unfortunately, deciding the
theme or subject matter of these paintings was a much more difficult decision. The lecture on
narratives had the most influence on the final idea because I felt it resonated with my art style
the greatest. I love using small details or minor symbols to tell a story and the examples of
narrative art were some of my earliest sources of inspiration including Roy Lichtenstein s
Drowning Girl and Pablo Picasso s Guernica. Learning the aspects of play was also a major
contributor to the final project idea. Play was both fun and had the ability to make... Show more

I originally started painting flowers simply because it was what my mother used, but throughout the
project, I found my own unique sources of inspiration. My mother explained to me that she used
certain flower types for their curves and painted the petals to have figure like appearances. During
the sketching and painting process, I figured out I really love how nature can appear so simple
and beautiful and simultaneously being extremely complex. I felt as though using a simple object
in nature would be an interesting connection to some of the people I know best in the world
because there is so much backstory behind the object, much like backstory behind my siblings. It
was especially fun figuring out the flower meaning and choosing the best one for each sibling. I
used a blue iris for my brother because a blue iris represents wisdom, admiration, and inspiration
and I have always been competing against my brother while admiring his differences. My sister
is represented by a red amaryllis for her pride, determination, and beauty. It is also said to stand
for drama and I felt that captured her completely. I chose a purple dahlia for myself (with the help
of some friends) because it symbolizes staying kind despite being tested by certain events, a balance

Misogyny And Misandry
Misogyny is considered a strong hatred or dislike of women and misandry, is considered as strong
hatred or dislike of men. Both Misogyny and misandry can be seen through sexual discrimination,
hostility, denigration, violence, and sexual objectification. However, misogyny can also be seen
through male supremacist ideas. The mistreatment of women in the United States is part of a
larger problem of cultural misogyny (Gailey Prohaska, 2006). Men and women are consistently
sexually objectified because of the acceptance of objectification in the Western culture. Both men

This idea needs to be taught and accepted in both the school settings and the community. Sexual
empowerment is when a person is confident with who they are as a person both physically and
mentally in terms of sexuality (Erchull Liss, 2014). Instead of men and women being objectified
through individuals and the media people need to stand for who they are as an individual. Being
objectified because of one s sex needs to be seen as a negative symptom of being male or female
(Stock, 2015). People should also feel confident about their sexual desires and not try to fit in
based on the societal norm for what is acceptable. In advertising, there is an attempt to see
empowerment trying to be displayed, but in reality there is women are often displayed as actively
seeking and enjoying sex as a way to sell products, not because they are fulfilling sexual
empowerment. These advertisements are not trying to help men and women, but rather set a
standard of sexuality. However, these images are used for business because sex sells. Many
feminists are able to recognize the use of language and imagery that actually contradicts
empowerment (Stock, 2015). Even though the definition of sexual empowerment varies men and
women should continue to push for more positive views of women and men in the media so that
there can be an end to the acceptance of sexual

to eat while the customers are waiting, and of course, there are always peanuts. Customers are

There is a more rapid pace at McDonald s. Here customers have the option of driving through or

The Slave System By Solomon Northup
The slave system was kept in existence for many years since the early 1600 s. A never ending
cycle of pain, and harsh conditions From being in 12 years of slavery, Solomon Northup recounts
the time when he had once been a free man to be kidnapped of that freedom back in 1841. The
relationships that Northup encountered were neither positive or negative . From friends he gained
or his slave masters, the relationships were shaped by slaveryand helped intact the slave system. In
those relationships, how the supervisors of the slaves treated them impacted the slaves work ethic
and the friendships that were made during this harsh time, thus supporting the slave system. One
of the first social relationship Solomon encountered when he entered slavery was James H. Burch.
When Solomon was captured, Burch chained him up and put him in a cell; something Solomon
was not used to at all. Although he claimed he was a free man, Burch beat him every time he said
he was, and forcing Solomon to say he was from Georgia. Burch frightened Solomon with his
beatings and threatening words and because of how cruel Burch was, Solomon kept his mouth shut
and refused to say he was a free man to any of his future slave masters, fearing of the treatment
again. With James Burch treating the slaves in that matter; implemented to the system of slavery,
forcing the slaves to become who they wanted them to be. That allowed slaves to follow orders, and
not to protest against the supervisor s treatment,

Why Was Italy Not Unified After the Congress of Vienna...
Before the Congress of Vienna the French occupation had far reaching affects on Italy. The power
of the Church and the Pope was reduced, changes were made in landownership and land was
redistributed. A new middle class began to appear. Agriculture was improved and the peasants
were freed from their old feudal ties and obligations. Then when Napoleon was defeated and the
restoration of the old regime and monarchs was started, Italyagain became a country divided into
eleven independent states, excluding the tiny principalities and the Republic of San Marino. So
Italy was not unified after the Congress of Vienna due to a number of reasons, such as the foreign

The lay people had no part in government, apart from a few lay members of advisory bodies
called В‘congregations . Politically, Italy was fragmented. Further, half the states were governed
by kings or dukes who already occupied or hoped soon to inherit the thrones of the non Italian
countries. Venice and Piedmont had dominions outside Italy. The Papacy had worldwide
ecclesiastal concerns. The peninsula was not merely divided; the boundaries and interests of its
states ignored its natural frontiers. Equally, there still survived three ancient republics of
importance: Venice, ruling a considerable empire on the eastern shores of the Adriatic and a large
territory, known as the Veneto, on the mainland of Italy; Genoa, which until 1768 governed the
island of Corsica; and Lucca. After the Papal States there were five significant duchies. Of these
members of the Austrian royal House of Habsburg, Milan direct from Vienna, and Tuscany, ruled
the two most important separately. The Duchy of Parma and Piacenza was under a Spanish
Bourbon, but could not be united either with Spain or with Naples and Sicily. The Duke of
Modena and the Duchess of Massa and Carrara represented Italian dynasties. So the foreign
influence of the Central European Powers both before and after the congress of Vienna was major a
factor in Italy s remaining as eleven independent states rather than becoming united.

Throughout my childhood, and extending into my highschool reading career, I have enjoyed
reading books that focus on complex issues that are omnipresent in our society, though reading
about them through a fantasy setting is much more appealing and fascinating to me. One prominent
example is the children s fantasybook The Amber Spyglass, the third and final book in the His
Dark Materials series written by Philip Pullman. This book analyzes in depth issues such as moral
ambiguity, the pitfalls of power, and loyalty, all while simultaneously representing a coming of age

People generally seek comfort in cults when that comfort cannot be found elsewhere within their
family, friends or community thus those who join tend to be vulnerable, seeking a place where
they feel safe and secure. But as they become more involved, cults often force people to cut ties
with their outside life to force full reliance, giving more and more time and money, thus
increasing the cult s power (Zimbardo). These actions are often present in church like
organizations as well, begging the question of determining the difference between a church and
cult. Both can provide comfort and security to a person who feels vulnerable, with the possibility
of becoming overly extremist, leading to religious fanaticism utter devotion and strict adherence
to a religion with little to no regard for anything outside beliefs set around that religion and its

Beyond these factors, there is evidence of a pathophysiological role for inflammation and
oxidative stress in CKD and its complications [2]. These two events are prominent features of
CKD and its complications in humans [3,4,5,6,7]. Increased oxygen radical formation was
found in CKD, in the presence of a reduced antioxidant defense [8]. Patients suffer from chronic
microinflammation and infections [9]. Gum Arabic (GA) is derived from exudates of Acacia
senegal or Acacia seyal trees. It consists of a mixture of polysaccharides (major component) plus
oligosaccharides and glycoproteins [1,2]; however, its composition can vary with its source,
climate and soil. Sudan is the world s largest producer, followed by many other African countries.
It readily dissolves in water to form solutions characterized by low viscosity. This allows its use
in various applications [3]. Gum Arabic was evaluated for acceptable daily intake for man by the
Joint FAO/WHO Expert Committee on Food Additives since 1969 [5]; however, Sudanese people
in Western Sudan had been using it for long time without limitations. It is indigestible to both
humans and animals, not degraded in the intestine, but fermented in the colon to give short chain
fatty acids, leading to a large range of possible health benefits [6]. One of these benefits is its
prebiotic effect [7,8]. It has been claimed that four week supplementation with Gum

Twelfth Night Social Order
Change in Social Order If there was no way of out of your current social status, would you be
happy with it? Twelfth Night is one of the great comedies written by William Shakespeare. The
play showcases many truths about society. Status was important in the Elizabethan Age, and
people could not raise in the social ranks. The purpose of turning over the social order in Twelfth
Night is to reveal that status is just a label through showing love does not abide by these
boundaries, status does not display true character, and status is not obtained by those who aim for
it. First of all, love does not have any boundaries because it is merely the attraction and adoration of
another person, no matter their age, status, race, and beliefs. Many characters in Twelfth Night fall

yellow stockings all of which are absurd and Olivia laughs at him for his foolishness. Olivia later
feels sorry for Malvolio because he was considered a madman for thinking she was in love with
him and partially for that he could move up in the hierarchy. Sebastian, on the other hand, was

Power In Khaled Hosseini s A Thousand Splendid Suns
One moment she was talking and the next she was on all fours, wide eyed and red faced, trying
to draw a breath.... She howled with pain as he slammed the door shut. A key rattled in the lock
(268). Khaled Hosseini develops these images throughout the novel A Thousand Splendid Suns.
There are several imperative sections where locks and keys are used as a symbol of power. Through
Mariam, Laila, Aziza, and Zalmai, Hosseini reveals the true power Rasheed has over his wives and
children. From a young age Mariam is controlled by Jalil, who has power over both Mariam and
Nana as he keeps them locked in the kolba outside of town. When Mariam walks to Herat to visit

He is in complete control of their lives, and keeps them locked away for three days without food
or water. Later when Rasheed s shop burns down, the family runs low on money for food. Due to
the risk of starving, Laila takes Aziza to the local orphanage where she will be better fed. While
Aziza is at the orphanage, Rasheed often refuses to walk with Laila to visit her, he does this to
take control over her, and tease her that she cannot see her daughter. When Tariq visits Laila,
Zalmai sees Tariq and tells Rasheed about him when Rasheed returns home from work. He took
Zalmai by the elbow. Zalmai meekly let himself be led upstairs.... Mariam saw his feet pounding
the steps as he came down. She saw him pocketing the key, (345). Rasheed proceeds to beat
Mariam and Laila profusely. He was still on top of Laila, his eyes wide and crazy, his hands
wrapped around her neck. Laila s face was turning blue now, her eyes had rolled back (348).
Mariam had gone to the toolshed to get a shovel, when she sees him killing Laila she brings the
shovel up and swings it down on him. He falls off of Laila, but Mariam raises the shovel again
and kills him. After Laila wakes up, Mariam reaches into his pocket and takes the keys. Khaled

How Did The Global Economic Crisis Affect Canada
The 2000s was an extremely eventful decade for Canadians, with fierce federal elections taking
place and numerous disasters, such as the Toronto Explosions making a great deal of destruction.
However, an event that left lasting effects was the 2008 global economic crisis, which due to its
influence on the U.S and China, significantly impacted Canadas economy and society. Although the
crisis had a very negative effect on Canada, it also allowed the government, businesses, banks and
citizens to learn from the struggles of the recession and allow Canada to emerge as a stronger and
more successful nation. With the growing integration of the global economies, the financial crisis
had a number of channels to spread through, thus, having a widespread... Show more content on

400, 000 jobs were lost across the country as every single sector, such as retail, manufacturing,
transportation, natural resources, construction and warehousing trade had either lost profits or
drastically cut employee wages. This had numerous effects since apart from increasing the
unemployment rate to an all time high, the Canadian Economic Observor reported that households
all over Canada lost more than 8% of their net income and incurred about 2% of debit. Also, many
obstacles arose for those attempting to get out of the financial crisis which got stronger by each
passing month, such as how countless employees were not able to collect their worker benefits and
pensions had been cut. With the development of new issues in the wake of the financial collapse,
Canadians had looked toward the government for solutions, but had no success. Along with the
federal government denying that Canada was in a recession for the majority of it, Stephen Harper
proposed that Canadians should invest in the stock market even though it was facing historic lows
and was slow in taking action to strengthen Canada s economy. Furthermore, many of the initiatives

Essay on OZONE DEPLETION BY HUMAN’S ACTIONS
OZONE DEPLETION BY HUMAN S ACTIONS
The ozone layer is a very important component in the atmosphere. Ozone is not the same as the
oxygen humans breathe. There is very little of this gas in the atmosphere. First off, let s begin
with a definition of the ozone layer. Ozone is a hot, slightly bluish gas. It is a molecule made up of
three oxygen atoms, which are very similar to the molecule we are familiar with (O2), the molecule
needed for human respiration. Despite the major smog problem, about 90 percent of Earth s ozone
are actually in the stratosphere, a layer of the atmosphere far above the Earth s surface. It lies
above the troposhere, the miles thick lower layer where air is densest and where most weather
occurs. So, it is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If ozone did not act to filter a great deal of the ultra violet radiation and if the rays were allowed to
reach the surface of the Earth, then our planet would be uninhabitable for life (Lutgens3). Ozone
depletion and over exposure to enhanced UV B radiation can lead to deadly melanoma skin
cancer, increased eye cataracts, and damages to the near surface oceanic phytoplankton, which is
the basis of the food chain. The natural depletion of the stratospheric ozone chemistry cycle has
been severely interrupted by ozone depletion associated with the decay of chlorofluorocarbons (
Links 4). These are contained in a wide range of products, including aerosol sprays and refrigerants
and insulating foam packaging.
Ozone concentrations are measured by a Dobson spectrophotometer and satellite based
instruments and results from these measurements show a decrease in stratospheric ozone levels of
about 1 percent per year since 1979. Studies show that every 1 percent decrease in ozone should
produce a 2 percent increase in UV B radiation, and a 4 percent increase in skin cancer
(Thompson5).
Recently in the Arctic, the presence of significant CIO in the stratosphere has been established
(Thompson 6). This shows the process of ozone destruction in the Arctic. In this case, the ozone
level in the Arctic also decreases. The frequency of this is not known. There may be a relationship
between large volcanic eruptions and even greater loss

Essay On The Gold Rush
In early 1848, cries of gold findings flooded the West. White settlers flooded the area like a
hurricane in search of riches never seen before to the common man. It was the single greatest
migration of people in a shortest amount of time. The gold rush was a very dark period in
American history and it shouldn t be celebrated; the Native American s were slaughtered in
American thirst for gold Explosions of violence from both natives and settlers were common in this
environment of prejudice and greed. Between 1850 and 1890 eighty percent of the total number of
Native Americans in Californiadied due to murder and massacre, disease, starvation, and forced
migration from their native lands. The destruction of the culture and lives of the people native to
California and the Black Hills of South Dakota. Greed changed the morals and values of the miners
and Americans alike in the Gold Rush. The gold rush brought riches and highlighted racism of
white Americans, while systematically destroying Native Americans in that region.
To many Californians the mention of January 24, 1948, conveys no special meaning, nor is that
date widely commemorated in the state. Yet it had a special significance in the history of
California, for on that day James Marshall, a moody carpenter from Missouri, discovered the first
gold nuggets that resulted in a stampede known as the California Gold Rush. The California Gold
Rush drew in thousands of white settlers, all seeking a better life and a chance

Of Mice And Men Treatment Of Women Essay
Treatment of Women in Literature and the Real World
A woman s role in life is an important element in literature and in the real world. Two literary
works that talk about women s roles are Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck and Arthur Miller s
play, Death of a Salesman. In both works there are few representations of women and what they
are supposed to do. In Of Mice and Men and Death of a Salesman the women are expected to do
the housework and comply with what their husband tells them. In both works women are treated
more like possessions than people.
In Of Mice and Men there is one woman, Curley s wife, who plays an active role in the book. She
is never given a name, other than Curley s wife, because Steinbeck wanted to emphasis the fact
that she isn t treated with the same respect as the men, who all had names. She is treated like
Curley s possession instead of a person. At one point in the book Curley and Slim get into an
argument over her. Slim says, If you can t look after your own God damn wife, what do you

Magnet Schools Vs Charter Schools Essay
Public education has seen new advancements in the past two decades caused by the rapid growth of
the school choice policy. The two alternatives to the traditional public education that will be
discussed are the charter schools and magnet schools.
Charter schools are supposed to contribute to school innovation and reform by their combination of
freedom and accountability (Innovations in Education: Successful Charter Schools 2004, 1). Those
that support charter schools hope that due to their independence they will be able to spark
innovative reforms, promote competition within the public school sector and provide new options
to families (Finn, Manno, Vanourek, 2000; Nathan 1998a; 1998b). Then those on the opposite end
of the spectrum, argue that charter schools and greater choice within the public sector may cause
further racial segregation and cause economical strains for not only states but school districts; all
while not being proved to be more effective (Wells et al., 1998; Fiske Ladd,... Show more content

The Crucifixion By Brecht Durer Analysis
Brecht Durer once said, What beauty is, I know not, though it adheres to many things. Brecht
Durer was a German painter, print maker, and theorist who was born on May 21, 1471 and died on
April 6, 1528 in Nuremberg, Germany. His extensive work in printmaking established his reputation
in Europe, making him one of the leading artists of the Renaissanceperiod. A print is a work of art

religious subjects and revealed technical skills that had never before been seen. Woodcut is a
technique in printmakingwhere the artist carves images from a piece of wood. Then it is covered

Relationship of Societal Institutions and the Concept of...
Pierre Bourdieu is a French sociologist who presents a focus on the relationship of societal
institutions and the concept of habitus. Habitus is simply the socially structured norms that
influence individuals in order to direct the ideas and behaviors that make them who they are. With
this, habitus does not allow individuals to possess complete freedom of their thoughts and
perceptions. The individual s expressions, judgments, thoughts, perceptions, and behaviors are all
reflective of societal structures such as, class, gender, politics, and education which are then
reproduced by their actions. These common practices and perceptions are formed by one s history
and can be modified over time through different lifestyles and unexpected conditions such as
education, age, or becoming a parent. This means that individuals will not have a habitus identical
to another individual. Lastly, people s everyday activities and tastes exist in relation to the people
around them and that habitus is essential to controlling aspects of individual s social lives (Johnson
2006). Bourdieu s concept of habitus is evident through his articles, Distinction and Cultural
Reproduction and Social Reproduction and can also be demonstrated in Shamus Kahn s book,
Privilege. Bourdieu s article, Distinction exemplifies this idea of habitus and the effect of
institutions on social and cultural patterns. He demonstrates how these institutions instill a social
order into people s thoughts and everyday

Edward Group (2015, para. 3 10), Calcium Orotate is the most effective form of a calcium
supplement and is great for supporting calcium levels. Other forms of calcium are calcium
carbonate, calcium citrate, oyster shell calcium, calcium gluconate, calcium lactate, calcium
phosphate, and calcium citrate malate, (Group, 2015, para 3 10). This means that there are several
different kinds of calcium supplements but they are all not created equal. Some calcium
supplements are more bioavailably effective than others. Other calcium supplements should be
avoided. Calcium carbonate is not high in bioavaility and requires the production of extra stomach
acid to be absorbed. It is also one of the cheapest and most prevalent forms of calcium supplements
sold today , (Group, 2015, para. 3).
In conclusion, having an adequate intake of calcium in important for many functions of the body.
Keeping a journal of daily food intake can help a person to be aware of missing nutrients that are
important for proper functioning of the body. If a person is low on their calcium intake then
eating or drinking foods with dairy will allow a person to increase their calcium, because dairy has
the best bioavailability. However, lactose intolerant people may need to take a calcium supplement
in order to get adequate amounts of calcium.

Teaching Critical Thinking Skills Through Different...
Critical thinking can be taught through various strategies within the lesson or it can be taught
explicitly as a standalone lesson. Teaching critical thinking to students as a standalone lesson is as
popular as reading Shakespeare plays; it just doesn t work, you don t get the same outcome. Hence,
I will focus on teaching critical thinking skills through different strategies. Current research shows
that critical thinking helps students be more successful. Critical thinking helps students make better
decisions in and outside of school, and it also helps them to properly analyze and evaluate
information. Recently, the Common Core State Standards have emphasized that critical thinking is
an interdisciplinary skill crucial for students educational success and decision making beyond
school years. This is especially important in today s society, where information is readily available
via internet. Students must learn to properly identify faulty information. Stephen Norris, an
educational researcher, states that if students have critical thinking skills they will be able to
partake rationally in the decision making of a democratic society, thus helping to sustain a
democratic way of life (p.22). Teaching critical thinking is a very difficult task, but by using
effective strategies teachers will be able to help more students succeed academically and in life.
Therefore, critical thinking needs to happen every day in the classroom. In order to effectively
teach critical thinking,

Introduction Of Louis Vuitton Malletier
Louis Vuitton Malletier, most commonly referred to as Louis Vuitton, was established in 1854 by
Louis Vuitton, who pursued his impetuous passion for the fashion industry by constructing his
own luxury fashion retail company. Louis Vuitton, who was only 10 when his mother passed
away, decided to leave his home at the age of 13, alone and on foot, bound for Paris. He traveled for
more than two years, taking odd jobs to feed himself along the way and staying wherever he
could find shelter, as he walked the 292 mile trek from his native Anchay to Paris. He arrived in
1837, at the age of 16. After arriving, Louis noticed the wide spread poverty, but what really
peaked his interest was how Paris was being transformed by the industrial revolution. Vuitton
met a successful box maker and packer named Monsieur Marechal, who took Louis on as an
apprentice to his craft. In 19th century Europe, box making and packing was a highly
respectable and urbane craft. A box maker and packer custom made all boxes to fit the goods
they stored and they personally loaded and unloaded the boxes. It took Vuitton only a few years
to stake out a reputation amongst Paris s fashionable class as one of the city s premier
practitioners of his new craft. In 1854 at age 33, Vuitton married 17 year old Clemence Emilie
Parriaux. Soon after the marriage, he left Marechal s shop, and inaugurated his own workshop of

discrimination. (pg. 271) we are not going to be able to fix a problem by making laws in reverse
to what has already been done. We need to put an end to it all together. By making reverse
discrimination we are not making thing better, we are just sweeping the issue under the rug so
to speak. When we reverse discrimination we just force people to meet a quota . In his paper he
points out that, a company policy not itself is designed to keep blacks out nevertheless, does
exactly that. (pg. 272) Companies do not have policies that say no black allowed. They have
requirements in place that in a roundabout way keeps blacks from getting the job. Some black
person could have had the job if they had the education or recommendations to get the job.
Companies have rules were they know blacks can t meet the requirements because of the way
that our society is set up. To fix discrimination is not about what is seen or what is known
Fullenwider points out that, it is about the nature and sweep of discrimination (pg. 272) if you
only work on a surface level you will only get a surface result. In order to move on from such an
ingrained problem like discrimination you need to get rid of it in all forms. You can t reverse what
has already been done but you can put an end to it cold turkey , stop it in its tracks. One thing that
is being overlooked is that our country was not made for blacks to live happily. The world is built
for giants and of course we don t do well in that world but give us back the world built for us and
see what we can do. (pg. 273) Whites are the giant in our world. The world we live in is a world
that was made to the white race benefit and blacks are just people trying to fit in. The laws are not
what is needed for blacks to fit. In

Protect and Grow. Conversations with Financial Consultant. In the last several years, as we have
seen some of the major financial conglomerates collapse, when Wall Street carries some negative
connotation, investors attention turns to the companies who work primarily with Main Street,
specifically those folks who create capital and own assets. A lot of these businessess would not
strike you as super wealthy, yet it is the small businesses that proved to be the most resilient during
the hard economic times. LPL Financial came to the forefront relatively recently, in 2008 2009,
when many financial giants like Lehman Brothers and Bear Stearns went belly up, and the
companies like Merrill Lynch and Goldman Sachs went through some very... Show more content on

Example a lot of financial consultants use only the basic Series 6 license. A lot less folks have
registrations. I received my Series 7 many years ago as one of my first licenses. Eventually,
about 10 years ago I studied and passed exams for my Series 9 and 10, Options Principal and
General Securities Sales Supervisor. The knowledge acquired allowed me to have a lot better
understanding of many aspects of this business and bring more value to the clients. OK, Let s
get back to the original question. Say, a potential client came to you not with 20k, but several
million dollars. But these kinds of clients already have their own tax and legal advisors whose
opinion means a lot to the clients. And in case their opinion differs from your advice... I always
applaud when my existing or potential clients sit down for a meeting with their tax advisors and
attorneys, the people that advise them on the very important issues in their lives. The CPA,
attorney and Financial consultant should be the three very important professionals in the clients
lives. Could you please talk for a minute about the CPAs? Certified Public Accountant is the
highest level for a tax professional. There are many bookkeepers and accountants, but only a small
percentage of them are CPAs. Regular accountants and bookkeepers, regardless of how nice and
pleasant they may be, can not, for example, represent the client with IRS, should any problem
occur. Since many of the clients are successful

Arminianism And John Calvin Similarities
At the turn of the 17 th century there was a major theological movement involving the Calvinistic
Systematic Theology (known as Calvinism) and Arminian Systematic Theology (known as
Arminianism). While they are both historically related, having been born from the Protestant
Reformation, they are also conflicting with each other. Calvinism In 1536 John Calvin published
his work The Institutes of the Christian Religion in which he covered several theological topics.
Such teachings attracted the church of Geneva leading to the reformation of the church to an
apostolic model (following the biblical model Jesus had established with his apostles) and the
establishment of several schools including the University of Geneva. One of the things... Show

Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we
rejoice in hope of the glory of God.Нџ Romans 5:1 2 While both systems of theology can be
supported by scripture there is one that I lean towards the most. I believe Calvinism to be the
most biblically sound. However, both of these are teachings of man and not Jesus. I want to learn
from Him and so I ll go straight to the Bible and let God take it from there. I also believe that once
God has called you it is then that you are able to exercise your God given free will to accept His
call, put it on hold, or ignore His call completely. One of the scriptures that I base this on is
Deuteronomy 30:19 20: НћThis day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I
have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your
children may live and that you may love the Lord your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to

Hindu Religions Of The Indus River Valley Civilization
There are many religions in India that share common similarities and differences. However, there
are two religions in Northern India that stand out from them all. There are many ways to compare
the similarities and differences between the Hindu and Buddhist religions of the Indus River Valley
civilization. Hinduismand Buddhismhave their own definition of culture, but they are alike in
several ways. First, both religions focus on two main things that lead them to a successful life,
Dharma and Karma. For example, Dharma is what you do in your life; Dharma affects your
Karma, the consequence of your actions. To illustrate, people who believe in Hinduism or
Buddhism believe that if you have good Dharma in your life, then you will have good... Show more

In the first place, the Hindus believe in a caste system made of social classes, whereas Buddhism
does not have a caste system, but rather practice peace. The Hindus caste system provides a way
to organize people into social classes based on their status and popularity. In spite of the Hindus,
the Buddhists strive to achieve peace by making sure everything is equal parts of a whole .
Additionally, The Hindu religion has no single founder. On the other hand, an Indian prince named
Siddhartha Gautama founded Buddhism. In further detail, Hinduism was not founded by anyone
particular, but instead Hinduism is a combination of beliefs of the early Indus Valley peoples and
Aryans. On the contrary, Buddhism was founded by Siddhartha Gautama, whose main purpose was
to erase of suffering from the world. Finally, the Buddhism religion contains no sacred literature, as
the Hindu religion was built of three major scared texts. The Hindu s three sacred texts include the
Vedas, Ramayana, and the Mahabharata. However, the Buddhists have no sacred text, but followers
of Siddhartha Gautama write down his ideas and teaching to this

Nsa Is The Spying Ofu.s Citizens
The National Security Agency (NSA) has been an information gathering arm of the Executive
branch since the Cold War and continues to be an essential part of ensuring the security of the
United States. The public issue that involves the NSA is the spying of U.S citizens which can be
seen as a violation of the Fourth Amendment of the United States Constitution. This was revealed to
the public by the whistleblower Edward Snowden who released classified documents of activities
that the NSA had been conducting in conjuncture with telecommunication companies, which
angered many U.S citizens and received media coverage with a call for the U.S Government to
restrict the NSA s activities or at least for there to be Congressional oversight. This debate
revolves around how much the NSA s surveillance activities are actually used for national security
as well as the constitutionality of the NSA s surveillance. This all began after the terrorist attacks
on September 11, 2001 when there was a call for the attacks to never happen again and the
adoption of the Patriot Act in that same year which increased the power of the NSA.
The National Security Agency over the past few years was revealed to have spied on American
citizens under what can be considered illegal or unconstitutional circumstances which sparked
concern and outrage across most of America. This was first recognized in 2013 when the
whistleblower Edward Snowden or traitor as the United States government considers him, leaked

These forms all have specifics that set their therapeutic sessions apart, but are similar in that they all begin with a technique called joining. A way of ensuring family involvement would be to set specific guidelines about the affect patient s behavior and the family s reactions toward the behavior. For example, a therapist may initiate a plan in which the patient must be responsible for replacing the family food in which he/she binges on. This activity will enhance the removal of the rest of the family to be in constant fear for the patient; it will also allow the patient to begin to regain control of one aspect of his/her life. Being objectified because of one s sex needs to be seen as a negative symptom of being male or female (Stock, 2015). People should also feel confident about their sexual desires and not try to fit in based on the societal norm for what is acceptable. There are several imperative sections where locks and keys are used as a symbol of power. Through Mariam, Laila, Aziza, and Zalmai, Hosseini reveals the true power Rasheed has over his wives and children. From a young age Mariam is controlled by Jalil, who has power over both Mariam and Nana as he keeps them locked in the kolba outside of town. While Aziza is at the orphanage, Rasheed often refuses to walk with Laila to visit her, he does this to take control over her, and tease her that she cannot see her daughter. When Tariq visits Laila, Zalmai sees Tariq and tells Rasheed about him when Rasheed returns home from work. He took Zalmai by the elbow. Zalmai meekly let himself be led upstairs.... How Did The Global Economic Crisis Affect Canada The 2000s was an extremely eventful decade for Canadians, with fierce federal elections taking place and numerous disasters, such as the Toronto Explosions making a great deal of destruction. However, an event that left lasting effects was the 2008 global economic crisis, which due to its influence on the U.S and China, significantly impacted Canadas economy and society. Although the crisis had a very negative effect on Canada, it also allowed the government, businesses, banks and citizens to learn from the struggles of the recession and allow Canada to emerge as a stronger and more successful nation. Ozone is not the same as the oxygen humans breathe. There is very little of this gas in the atmosphere. First off, let s begin with a definition of the ozone layer. Ozone is a hot, slightly bluish gas. It is a molecule made up of three oxygen atoms, which are very similar to the molecule we are familiar with (O2), the molecule needed for human respiration. Despite the major smog problem, about 90 percent of Earth s ozone are actually in the stratosphere, a layer of the atmosphere far above the Earth s surface. If ozone did not act to filter a great deal of the ultra violet radiation and if the rays were allowed to reach the surface of the Earth, then our planet would be uninhabitable for life (Lutgens3). Ozone depletion and over exposure to enhanced UV B radiation can lead to deadly melanoma skin cancer, increased eye cataracts, and damages to the near surface oceanic phytoplankton, which is the basis of the food chain. The natural depletion of the stratospheric ozone chemistry cycle has been severely interrupted by ozone depletion associated with the decay of chlorofluorocarbons ( Links 4). These are contained in a wide range of products, including aerosol sprays and refrigerants and insulating foam packaging. Ozone concentrations are measured by a Dobson spectrophotometer and satellite based instruments and results from these measurements show a decrease in stratospheric ozone levels of about 1 percent per year since 1979. Studies show that every 1 percent decrease in ozone should produce a 2 percent increase in UV B radiation, and a 4 percent increase in skin cancer (Thompson5). Recently in the Arctic, the presence of significant CIO in the stratosphere has been established (Thompson 6). This shows the process of ozone destruction in the Arctic. In this case, the ozone level in the Arctic also decreases. The frequency of this is not known. There may be a relationship between large volcanic eruptions and even greater loss ... Two literary works that talk about women s roles are Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck and Arthur Miller s play, Death of a Salesman. In both works there are few representations of women and what they are supposed to do. In Of Mice and Men and Death of a Salesman the women are expected to do the housework and comply with what their husband tells them. In both works women are treated more like possessions than people. In Of Mice and Men there is one woman, Curley s wife, who plays an active role in the book. The two alternatives to the traditional public education that will be discussed are the charter schools and magnet schools. Charter schools are supposed to contribute to school innovation and reform by their combination of freedom and accountability (Innovations in Education: Successful Charter Schools 2004, 1). Those that support charter schools hope that due to their independence they will be able to spark innovative reforms, promote competition within the public school sector and provide new options to families (Finn, Manno, Vanourek, 2000; Nathan 1998a; 1998b). • 30. Relationship of Societal Institutions and the Concept of... Pierre Bourdieu is a French sociologist who presents a focus on the relationship of societal institutions and the concept of habitus. Habitus is simply the socially structured norms that influence individuals in order to direct the ideas and behaviors that make them who they are. With this, habitus does not allow individuals to possess complete freedom of their thoughts and perceptions. The individual s expressions, judgments, thoughts, perceptions, and behaviors are all reflective of societal structures such as, class, gender, politics, and education which are then reproduced by their actions. These common practices and perceptions are formed by one s history and can be modified over time through different lifestyles and unexpected conditions such as education, age, or becoming a parent. This means that individuals will not have a habitus identical to another individual. Lastly, people s everyday activities and tastes exist in relation to the people around them and that habitus is essential to controlling aspects of individual s social lives (Johnson 2006). Bourdieu s concept of habitus is evident through his articles, Distinction and Cultural Reproduction and Social Reproduction and can also be demonstrated in Shamus Kahn s book, Privilege. Bourdieu s article, Distinction exemplifies this idea of habitus and the effect of institutions on social and cultural patterns. He demonstrates how these institutions instill a social order into people s thoughts and everyday ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Teaching critical thinking to students as a standalone lesson is as popular as reading Shakespeare plays; it just doesn t work, you don t get the same outcome. Hence, I will focus on teaching critical thinking skills through different strategies. Current research shows that critical thinking helps students be more successful. Critical thinking helps students make better decisions in and outside of school, and it also helps them to properly analyze and evaluate information. Recently, the Common Core State Standards have emphasized that critical thinking is an interdisciplinary skill crucial for students educational success and decision making beyond school years. This is especially important in today s society, where information is readily available via internet. Students must learn to properly identify faulty information. Stephen Norris, an educational researcher, states that if students have critical thinking skills they will be able to partake rationally in the decision making of a democratic society, thus helping to sustain a democratic way of life (p.22). By making reverse discrimination we are not making thing better, we are just sweeping the issue under the rug so to speak. When we reverse discrimination we just force people to meet a quota . In his paper he points out that, a company policy not itself is designed to keep blacks out nevertheless, does exactly that. (pg. 272) Companies do not have policies that say no black allowed. They have requirements in place that in a roundabout way keeps blacks from getting the job. Some black person could have had the job if they had the education or recommendations to get the job. I believe Calvinism to be the most biblically sound. However, both of these are teachings of man and not Jesus. I want to learn from Him and so I ll go straight to the Bible and let God take it from there. I also believe that once God has called you it is then that you are able to exercise your God given free will to accept His call, put it on hold, or ignore His call completely. One of the scriptures that I base this on is Deuteronomy 30:19 20: НћThis day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses.
