The Global Wild Tiger Population
Let us go on a jungle walk.
The word tiger from Latin word tigris meaning a spotted tigerhound of Actaeon.
The global wild tiger population is estimated at anywhere between 3,062 and 3,948 individuals.
The World Wide Fund for Nature estimates the tiger population at 3,200.
Why are tigers getting extinct?
Poachers are continuing to kill the world s remaining Tigers.
New demand across Southeast Asia for the skins, teeth and claws of tigers, particularly the
Sumatran tiger.
Tiger parts have a strong market for traditional medicines made from items like tiger bone and body
parts.
Deforestation and illiteracy are also a reason. So, we should save tigers.

What needs to be done to save the Tiger?
Indian Government spent $13 million only for the Conservation of Tigers. This money was used in:
1. Strengthening of anti poaching activities.
2. Implementation of the urgent recommendations of the Tiger Task Force constituted by the
National Board for Wildlife chaired by the Hon ble Prime Minister.
3. The National Tiger Conservation Authority (4.09.2006) would strengthen tiger conservation by
ensuring normative standards in tiger reserve management, preparation of reserve specific tiger
conservation plan.
4. Assessment of tiger habitat status in the country.
5. Comparative appraisal of forest cover status in and around tiger reserves (upto a radial distance
of 10 kms).
6. Several rare and endangered species of wild animals have been included in the Schedules of

Monetary Policy Rules And Monetary Policies
I. Introduction
Monetary policy rules are a fundamental part of the central bank models and are often refined to
maximize economic welfare, specific to that country. Monetary policy rules are a methodical
response of monetary policy events in the economy. Essentially, it can be thought of as a numeric
equation, which determines the appropriate level for the central bank s policy instrument to be a
function of one or more economic variables that describe the state of the economy. It is imperative
that economies model the reaction of their monetary authorities to changes in their respective
economic conditions; this equation is essentially a reaction function. A reaction function utilizes its
instruments to stabilize inflation and output ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The output gaps for both countries are related to their potential and real Gross Domestic Products
(GDP) in their respective currencies. Likewise for both countries, inflation is related to the
Consumer Price Index (CPI).
Figure 1 depicts a picture of very similar output gaps between the two countries, however the
United States falls at a quicker rate. Therefore, the slope of the U.S. is higher. Canada s economy
from the year 2000 2007 operates above its capacity to withstand the level of production due to
excess demand and begins to fall just after, similar to the United States whom have transitioned
between positive and negative output gaps since the beginning of the decade.
Figure 2 shows inflation rates above 1.5, however they take a drastic fall in 2008 2009, which will
correspond to the recession both economies were facing. Prices in both economies plummeted, the
U.S. falling almost 4% from 2008. Although never really constant, the inflation rates prior to the
recession were rather normal in both countries, however the instability could be a combination of a
reduction in the supply of money in the economy and a lack of regulation of the monetary policy
rule. Figure 1

Champion Road Machinery
Summary:
Champion Road Machinery Limited, the worlds second largest manufacturer of graders and other
large machinery has been performing well above expectations and cash properly managed. A
financial analysis of the Champion Road Machinery Company was performed in order to provide
recommendations on the dividends distribution policy.
Decision on the Company s dividends policy will depend on three main factors: * Current financial
situation (Cash flow, Required Retained Earnings, Projected Growth, and Equity available for
distribution) * Industry and main competitors dividends strategies * Types of shareholders and their
goals and expectations from the Company
Based on the above mentioned information, our recommendation ... Show more content on

(See table 3).
In taking decision on the dividends policy management should also take into consideration the
expectations of its shareholders. Champion has three main groups of shareholders: * Seqouia a
private investment firm. It focuses on high risk opportunities with the potential growth in sales,
earnings and cash flows, which would translate into stock appreciation. This group of shareholders
could be interested in long term growth rather then in giving out dividends now.
* Institutional investors (including large Canadian based money managers Retail Investors mainly
interested in capital gains rather then in regular dividends payments.
To conclude, the majority of shareholders would prefer to keep the cash in the company for the
future investments.
Conclusion and Recommendations:
Should Champion declare dividends, and if so how much per share (DPS), and the total ($ amount)?
We would recommend Champion to have a Regular dividend plus extra policy that will enable
them to pay extra dividends in good periods, when profits and cash flow are high and at the same
time follow the competitors.
For 1994, we recommend Champion to have annual regular dividend (based on the industry
average) of $0.42 and amount available for special dividends would be $1,908,600.00 with DPS
$0.17 (see table 1).

Risk Management Plan For An Information System Upgrade
The purpose of this document is to describe a risk management plan for an information system
upgrade. This document outlines the processes that will be used in the identification, recording,
discussion, and response to risks as well as the roles of the project team. Inadequate attention to risk
brings about cost overruns, inadequate technical performance and schedule delays. The project risk
plan will record the team s decisions on risk managementto establish a clear standard way for the
actions to be taken. Moreover, the plan will be utilized throughout the project life. Risks are the
potential events that may occur in the course of a project, and if they occur would adversely affect
the project scope, schedule, quality and/or resources. Further, when risks occur they bring with
them consequences. Conversely, risk management is the process with which risk management
planning, identification, analysis, response and control is done on a project to mitigate its effects.
The goal and objective of risk management is to reduce the chances and effects of adverse events to
the project objectives. The project manager will be responsible in the creation and maintenance of
this project risk management plan throughout the project to maintain the appropriate levels of risk
to meet the project s objectives. And as such the project team members who may have questions
regarding the document may consult the risk management officer. The project director will be
tasked with reviewing and

Self Regulation And Education-Not Advertising
Advertising, we all know it and we all have a love hate relationship for it. The most current topic on
advertising right now is, whether or not advertisement s targeting the youth of this nation should be
allowed. There are many arguments on both sides that make very valid and convincing arguments,
yet overall it all comes down to how you view the world. Personally I believe that, if moderated,
advertisements targeting a young audience are not harmful enough to ban them overall. In the
article Self Regulation and EducationNot legislation the writer supports the contiuance of children s
advertising. The article points out that advertising not only helps the economy grow but creates
smart consumers out of the youth who watch them.

The Effects Of Americans On Indian Life
One cannot examine U.S. history without looking at the interactions between Native Americans
and Americans. From colonization to industrialization, conflicts between these groups have always
been prevalent. Indians have been stripped of their land, heritage and status. Our guns, germ and
culture have killed them. One can see this power struggle in many pieces of literature. Two being,
Crazy Horse: A Life , a secondary source focusing on a Siouxwarrior Crazy Horse and the Plains
peoples, and Indian Trader John Lawson s Journal of Carolina 1709, a primary source that
describes an English merchant s encounter with Indians in Carolina. This paper will focus on the
effects of Americans on Indian life.
Crazy Horse: A Life is a secondary source of information that tells the story of Sioux leader Crazy
Horse and his tribe. As Whites invade their land for gold Crazy Horse has to find a way to keep
his home. Throughout the source, Larry McMurtry, with little evidence, draws up the rise and fall
of Crazy Horse. From early on it was evident of the whites were moving into the Plains peoples
settlements, The author wrote, ...at first the pressure of white intrusion may have been subtle but
and slight but it was present, and would be present throughout his entire life... the Sioux people and
others way of life was dying because of the settlements of white people on their land. Their
settlements cause the game to leave the area, which in turn hurt the hunters of the tribe. With these

How Did The Fur Trade Affect American Culture
The standard history of the fur trade tended to consider the Aboriginal Canadians as monolithic and
treated them as completely subject to European dominance, economic and technological, from first
contact. They argued that exploitative dealings and reliance on European technology immediately
and inevitably led to the collapse of native societies. More recently historians, such as Bruce
Trigger, while examining the Hurons drew attention to different elements of Huron society and how
they responded to European influence over time. Other historians such as Abraham Rothstein have
examined the cultural rather than economic aspects of the fur tradeand maintained that it was not
the exploitative relationship presented by the traditional view. Others... Show more content on

In addition to altering alliances, the basic destructive capacity of guns significantly altered the
nature of warfare between tribes, as described by a Saukamappee youth in comparing two
battles, the first of which predates the introduction of guns, in which he stated on both sides
several were wounded, but none lay on the ground; and night put an end to the battle without a
scalp being taken on either side, and in those days such was the result, unless one party was
more numerous than the other. and continues to describe a battle after the introduction of guns :
the battle had begun about Noon, and the Sun was not yet half down, when we perceived that
some of them had crawled away from their shields...The greater part of the enemy took flight,
but some fought bravely and we lost more than ten killed and many wounded; Part of us
pursued, and killed a few, but the chase had soon to be given over, for at the body of everything
Snake Indian killed, there were five or six of us trying to get his scalp or part of his clothing, his
weapons, or something of his as a trophy of the battle. (Friesen,38). Friesen characterized the pre
gun warfare as rather benign, stating that Shields were adequate to defend against arrows, offensive
tactics were static

The Human Body Cope With Stress
I am someone who is deeply interested in studying the human condition as it ranges in response to a
variety of life experiences and stressors. Humans respond to stress differently and largely as a
function of their environmental context. The many ways in which the systems of the human body
cope with stress can influence long term health and developmental outcomes that may even cross
over into subsequent generations.
Much of my curiosity in learning about human development stems from my own family
background. In fact, my parents are refugees from the country of Eritrea; they fled from the Eritrean
Ethiopian civil war as the people of Eritrea fought for their independence from Ethiopian rule. My
parents, along with thousands of others, sought political asylum and eventually found refuge in the
United States. My parents recount their experiences of having to stealthily travel from camp to
camp and entering neighboring countries that forced them to assimilate for the sake of their safety
and survival. Currently, Eritrea continues to experience a outflux of its citizens by the thousands as
they attempt to escape the despotism in government that currently plagues the land.
The experiences of my parents and the countless other immigrants of Eritrea motivate me so
strongly to focus and draw parallels to the current experiences of people who have been directly
impacted by the crisis in Syria. It inspires me to grasp a better understanding firsthand of the

America, Mexico, The Caribbean, And South America Make Up...
Central America, Mexico, the Caribbean, and South America make up Latin America.
Approximately 640 million people reside in this region. Latin America is the largest foreign
supplier of oil to the United States. It is the United States fastest growing trading partner, as well as
its biggest supplier of illegal drugs. Latin Americais also the largest source of U.S immigrants, both
documented and not.
The life expectancy for females is 72 years of age and the life expectancy for males is 79 years
of age in Latin American. Just about 35 million people in Latin America over the age of 15 are
illiterate, meaning they can neither read nor write. In this region, child poverty affects about 81
million people under the age of 18. Latin America has recorded a decrease in the infant mortality
rate. The infant mortality dropped from 128 deaths per 1,000 lives births to 26 per 1,000 live
births, which an 80 percent decline. ( Life Expectancy in Latin America and the Caribbean in 2015 |
Statistic )
Unlike many other countries where their levels of health concerns may be low, Latin America has a
high rate of growth stunting, which is when a person is very short for their age. Although income
poverty has not changed very much over the years, there has been many improvements in child
health and nutrition. Many of the population of Latin American countries are still faced with
economic decline.

The Battle of the Crater
Introduction The Battle of the Crater was supposed to be an unexpected attempt by
Union forces to break through the Confederate defenses south of a critical hub near Petersburg,
Virginia. The battle took place on the morning of July 30 1864, and consisted of 16,500 IX Corps
Union soldiers and approximately 9,500 Confederate soldiers.1 Ambrose E. Burnside lead the IX
Corps soldiers but overall command of the Union soldiers known as Grant s Army of the Potomac
was by General George G. Meade. The confederate soldiers were mostly made up of elements of
the Army of Northern Virginia and South Carolina and were led by William Mahone under the
direct order of Robert E. Lee. The Union decided to explode a mine under the Confederates and
blow a gap into their defensive lines. Petersburg, Virginia was an important location due to the
railheads that merged together there. The railhead then continued to Richmond the capital to
deliver supplies to the Confederate Army. 2
History Some of the worst fighting between Ulysses S. Grant s Army of the Potomac and General
Robert E. Lee s Army happened in the months leading up to the Battle of the Crater near Petersburg,
Virginia. The two armies clashed at such places as the Wilderness, Spotsylvania Court House, the
North Anna River, Cold Harbor, and along the defensive perimeter around Petersburg.3 The

Physical Therapist Ethical Dilemma Essay
Introduction For over 75 years the profession of physical therapy has required it s members to
adhere to a standard of ethical behavior.1 The first Code of Ethics adopted by the American
Physiotherapy Association in 1935 focused mainly on the relationship between the physical
therapist (PT), referring physician, and the disciplinary actions of violating that relationship.2(p.4)
Since then the Code of Ethicshas evolved into what the American Physical Therapy Association
(APTA) refers to as the Code of Ethics for the Physical Therapist (PT Code), and the Standards of
Ethical Conduct for the Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA Standards).2(p.5),3,4 Today the Code

referred. Higher functioning patients who qualify for transfer to an inpatient rehab in three days

meet the requirements for priority treatment, and that delaying further treatment for less than three
days will not have a negative impact on his well being. She documents the evaluation and
recommends him for discharge without further physical therapy services. Later that day Mr. Smith
confronts Mary about not receiving therapy, expresses his discontent, and questions the integrity
of her and the facility.8 The ethical dilemma is uncovered when Mary realizes that her decision
to follow the facility s procedure has had a negative impact on Mr. Smith s well being. The
obvious bad here is that he won t be provided access to the physical therapy services that he
believes will benefit him. The less obvious is that Mr. Smith has been denied his autonomy the
right to follow his own plan,7(p.147) and the ethical principle of beneficence the moral requirement
to do what is best for the individual patient,5(p.68) has been ignored. The good that

Tomorrow When The War Began Themes
There are two main themes in the novel Tomorrow When The War Began. Those themes are
mostly peace and war and also a heroism theme as well. The theme of peace and war is that it is
a central theme or one of the central themes and quite often, the characters are gripped in the
turmoil of conflict, while hoping for days of peace to come or reminiscing about the good life
before the waritself. Peace and War has been explored throughout the whole novelas the seven
teenagers go out in their town Wirrawee where it is in the middle of an all out war. This causes
them to do things they have never done before in which they are forced to fight and make sure
that they don t get caught or killed as well as hope that their families are safe.

This theme means that whether it is false heroism, or true courageous acts, this theme has been
explored quite often in the novel Tomorrow When The War Began. Some examples include
quotes on pages 239 and 255. Page 239 showed that they didn t really have a choice in doing
what they had to do in the war, leading them to be the heroes of their country, We could involve
ourselves in some way that would help us win this war and get our country back... but I don t think

something.
Lastly, on page 255 Ellie said, I was a bit nervous being paired with Fi, I must admit. There was
no way I was going to be a hero, but at least I was used to doing the outdoors, practical things and I
suppose that gives you a bit of confidence. This quote has shown that they had no faith in being

Peter Temple the Broken Shore Views and Values Essay
THE BROKEN SHORE
Peter Temple s acclaimed crime fiction novel The Broken Shore chronicles the unfolding of a
murder investigation on the rugged Victorian coastline through the eyes of a morally flexible small
town cop. The novel showcases the complex social structures apparent in contemporary rural
Victoria, particularly focusing on the often shaky relations between anglo and indigenous
Australians. It also addresses the segregation between the have s and the have not s within society
and the institutions that separate the social classes and explores the intricacies of the arguably
broken Australian/Victorian legal system. Temple uses Joe Cashin, his lone crusader type
protagonist, to assert his view that the justice system ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Through the commentary of characters like Cashin and Cecily Addison, who are both relative
outsiders in Cromarty, Temple is able to convey a fictional first hand view of the insular society
that holds in high esteem the likes of Charles Bourgoyne and Helen Castlemen, as they are
moneyed, educated and challenge the stereotypical country hick labels that are often collectively
placed on citizens residing in rural areas. Through the use of Cashin and Cecily, Temple is also able
to construct an unbiased observation of how these same areas discriminate against the, often
indigenous and/or low socio economic, down trodden members of society and ostracise them both
physically, through the demarkation line that tells indigenous Australians where they can and
cannot live, restricting them to the Daunt settlement , and also intellectually, through the copious
use of words like coon and nigger in regard to the blackfellas . Surprisingly it is not only the
bogan esque beach bums who assert their politically incorrect and blatantly racist attitudes towards
the indigenous residents. Members of the working class like Hopgood and his team for example
also exhibit prejudice against the Aboriginals and contrary to the traditional innocent til proven
guilty notion it seems to be more of a guilty til proven innocent situation when the young coons are
suspected of robbing and murdering Bourgoyne. This is perhaps the product of how the
parochialism of small

The Presidential Election Process
The presidential election process is a long and complicated procedure. Currently, we elect our
president and vice president by an indirect device known as the Electoral College. Under this
system, each state has as many electors as it has representatives and senators. Candidates who win
a plurality of the popular vote in a state secure all the states electoral votes. In order to win a
presidential election, a candidate must appeal successfully to the big states, such as California and
Texas. Many people are dissatisfied with our country s current election process. A candidate could
win the popular vote but lose the electoral vote, and thus lose the presidency. This method has led
to a lot of controversies and may eventually lead to election reforms. The primary is the first step in
choosing a party s presidential candidate. In most countries, the party picks the candidates. But in
the US, voters who declare support for one party or another gets to choose from the list of
candidates. The candidates, campaigning against other members of the same party, must win
enough state primaries to give them a majority of delegates at the party convention in the summer.
The first stage of a presidential campaign is the nomination campaign. At this time the candidate is

Holocaust Concentration Camps The Holocaust nearly made the Jewish population and religion
disappear from the face of the Earth. From January 30, 1933 to May 8, 1945; Adolf Hitler,
German politician and leader of the Nazi party, ran the Holocaust all over Germany and Eastern
Europe. Prisoners and victims of the Holocaust include: the majority of the Jewish population,
German Communists, Socialists, Social Democrats, Roma (Gypsies), Jehovah s Witnesses,
homosexuals, and people accused of socially deviant or socially unacceptable behavior. They
were sent to many different areas that had different purposes. The most used places they were
sent to are called concentration camps. Once they entered the concentration camps, there was no
escaping; those people officially became prisoners. There were 23 main concentration camps and
around 900 sub camps. Concentration camps tricked the Jewish people into coming into them by
offering them a better life on the welcoming signs outside. Some of the main camps had many
different inhumane uses. All of the camps are notorious for their cruel and evil ways of
everything that they did to prisoners, such as the genocide the Holocaust caused (Concentration
Camps, Killing Methods, Jewish Population). A lesser known camp, Westerbork, is located in the
Netherlands. This concentration camp was known as a Transit camp, which meant it wasn t the
end of the line for the prisoners who arrived there. These camps were a temporary accommodation
for the groups of prisoners that were being shipped throughout the country. Often these camps are
where families were split up by German Nazi soldiers. Westerbork was used from October 1939
through April 1945. This camp was shut down by Canadian liberation. Westerbork still stands as a
monument today (Concentration Camps). The next concentration camp, Dachau, is located in
Germany. This camp was the longest running major concentration camp throughout the Holocaust.
It started being used in March 1933 and was not shut down until April 1945. This was a forced
labor camp, so the majority of people survived when at this camp, but you didn t always get to stay

Obstacles In Achieving The American Dream
A dream is not obtainable through waiting. It is obtained by many factors. With many dreams
come trials that must be passed. The main obstacles of the American dream include race, the time
period and dedication. With this world suffering from racism, race is a major obstacle in
achieving the American dream. Throughout history, it is apparent that whites have an edge in
obtaining the dream. This is because the major settlers of America were white. Also a majority of
the American population consists of white people. African Americans and Hispanics still have a
hard time in their survival let alone prosperity due to racism that causes them to need to work

War and Bush
War has taken place all over the world. It is brutal at times even necessary, and the United States
of America has seen its own share of wars. Since September 11, 2001, the President of the United
States has launched a war on terrorism, and currently we are still at war. The War on Terrorism
has been one of the most important battles our country has ever had and overall it has been the
best for the U.S. as well as Iraq. The United States does have its motives for the war, and those
purposes are what make this country as safe as it is today.

The perspectives of people in war and people viewing the war are very different and many
people fail to realize the news can be a very one sided source. California itself is very liberal and
that can affect the way the news is run, but the fact is California is not the only location in the
U.S. The same news sources that criticized the war are also the same individuals who show
negativity on television every single day about such things as the Peterson trial, kidnappings,
homicides, car accident fatalities. They show such atrocities of people getting beheaded to get
people talking and the more they talk the more people that will watch the news. In the black eyes

The war in Iraq has drawn a very rough line that the U.S. will not stand for terrorism and will

safer than they have felt since 9/11. Many people say Saddam was never a threat and the U.S.

Change And Rebirth In Scandinavian Literature
In Scandinavian literature, writers use journeys as symbols of change and rebirth. Through the
journeys, the characters discover the unknown aspects of their lives, recognize their worlds for
what they are, and choose the future they want to pursue. Some characters make sacrifice on
their journeys in order to experience the unseen beauty and to seek spiritual contentment. The
little mermaid in Hans Christian Andersen s story voluntarily sacrificed her fishtail and tongue
for a wisp of love from the prince after her first trip to the world above. Abbot Hans in The

Facing the dangerous route to the sea witch s residence, her heart was beating with fear, she
almost turned back. But by reminding herself of her goals, her courage returned. (68) She was
not the helpless, vulnerable, little princess in her father s palace, rather, she turned into a strong
minded woman who bravely sought for the truth about her nature and who willingly endured
unimaginable pain for love. The sea witch warned her about the terrible consequences of her
decision: every time your foot touches the ground it will feel as though you were walking on
knives so sharp that your blood must flow. (68) And more severely, if she failed to marry the
prince, the first morning after he has married another, your heart will break and you will become

she answered, I still want to try. (69) However, the little mermaid s painful efforts did not come
out as she expected. The prince treated her as his lovely pet and she, who sacrificed her voice for
legs, could not reveal the truth that she was the girl who saved him. Yet the little mermaid held on
to her beliefs, I will take care of him, love him, and devote my life to him. (72) And so she did. As
the prince fell in love with the neighboring princess, it seems that the little mermaid s journey was
going to come to a dreadful end. At the most frustrating moment, on the edge of death, she danced
for the prince to please him and refused to kill him for her own life. Her devotion and selflessness
shows her transformation from a sentimental, imaginative, and impulsive mermaid girl to a rational,
faithful, and mature human. In the end, Andersen indicated her transformation by granting her a

Indonesia Vs Australian Economy Essay
Australia and Indonesia have both experienced continuous growth in their economies over the

Australian and Indonesian economies and will outline the similarities and differences of
economic growth and quality of life, employment and unemployment, distribution of income and
the role of government in health care between the two countries. Australia s economy has proven
to be on of the most sustainable in the world and the quality of life is very high, however
Indonesia has also developed quite substantially over recent years and now play a very important

The Disappearance Of Amelia Earhart
The Disappearance of Amelia Earhart
Amelia Earhart left quite an impression on the world. From being the first woman to fly across
the Atlantic to even setting a speed record of 181 miles per hour, Earhart was a figure to look up
to. When she disappeared, she was attempting to become the first person to fly around the world.
Her disappearance has always been a mystery and it will continue to be one for as long as we
live. However, new evidence has brought up the suggestion that maybe she crashed on a deserted
island and was stranded before she later on died. Some people don t believe this and they think
that she was secretly a spy for the U.S. and was captured and held hostage by Japanese soldiers.
Some people even think that she was on a suicide mission. Until researchers find evidence that
proves what really happened, her disappearance will always be a mystery. Amelia Earhartachieved
great things throughout her life. One of her famous quotes is Women must try to do things men
have tried. When they fail, their future must be a challenge to others. (Amelia Earhart) Even
when she failed, she proved that woman can be just as good as men. She accomplished so much
in the time she was here. She did things like becoming the first woman to fly a solo round trip
flight across the U.S. in 1928, and even set the woman s speed record of 181 miles per hour in
1930. She also become the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean in 1932 and continued

Overview of Macbeth
Not surprisingly, Macbeth has received volumes of critical commentary over the years. Not only is
the play an audience favorite, but its complex characterization, deeply woven themes, and
characteristic Shakespearean style make it rich ground for scholarly inquiry. Critics such as Harold
Bloom have remarked on the importance of Macbethin the context of Shakespeare s works. In
Shakespeare: The Invention of the Human, Bloom writes, The rough magic in Macbeth is wholly
Shakespeare s; he indulges his own imagination as never before, seeking to find its moral limits (if
any). Bloom also remarks, Macbeth is an uncanny unity of setting, plot, and characters, fused
together beyond comparison with any other play of Shakespeare s. ... Show more content on

As evidence, he notes how, although she is a strong character, Lady Macbeth is onstage very little;
and readers do not have the chance to get to know other characters, such as Duncan, Malcolm,
Banquo, and Macduff very well.
Although the minor characters appear only briefly (usually because they are murdered) and their
personas are not fully developed, readers and critics are drawn to them. Duncan, for example, is
held up as an example of a good king in contrast to Macbeth s figure as a bad king. Van Doren
remarks, Duncan was everything that Macbeth is not. We saw him briefly, but the brilliance of his
contrast with the thane he trusted has kept his memory beautiful throughout a play whose every
other feature has been hideous. Similarly, Lady Macduff and her son appear fleetingly, but their
fate evokes the pity of the audience and rouses more indignation toward Macbeth.
A substantial body of criticism addresses Lady Macbeth. Her importance in the play and her
position as a dominant woman in Western literature have prompted lengthy discussion and
character evaluation. Ribner juxtaposes Lady Macbeth with Banquo in her role in Macbeth s
psychological makeup. He maintains that while Banquo represents the part of Macbeth s divided
nature that would accept nature and reject evil, Lady Macbeth represents the other

The Impact Of The Roaring Twenties
F. Scott Fitzgerald once stated, The parties were bigger, the pace was faster, the shows were
broader, the buildings were higher, the morals were looser, and the liquor was cheaper. The time
after the war known as the Roaring Twenties harbored change for not only the economy but for the
people also. Credit materialized, becoming available for citizens to use on new products such as the
vacuum cleaner and the materializes, washing machine which allotted more time for the people to
have to themselves. The 1920s, a time of celebration and prosperity, eventually ended as a result
of a sudden economic crash, because of the effects from the times. During the World War I (1914
1918), women accepted the jobs that men had been working before they went on to fight for the
U.S. Many women worked in factories, with heavy machinery, on farms, or even in offices as
clerks. After the war, many women kept their jobs as clerks and secretaries. They obtained the
right to vote in 1920 with the 19th amendment, which set loose the ideas of even more
independence and a need to change the ideals of women. Post war prosperity gave way to credit
being opened for the people to use. Research showed, Low prices and generous credit made cars
affordable luxuries at the beginning of the decade; by the end, they were practically necessities (
The Roaring Twenties). Citizens were now allowed to buy goods they previously could not

It creates a unified community that has no economic or social barriers relating to clothing. To
empathize the point being made, it should be known that hectoring youth can lead to both physical

so prominent in a teenager s life, precautions must be made.
Accepting uniforms in a school will help it present itself in a more professional and safe manner.
For instance, if someone were to come up to the school requesting entrance wearing clothing
previously banned, it would be a cause for suspicion. This could assist schools in being more
efficient in the event of a lockdown or emergency. Meanwhile, schools are still being regularly
threatened to date; a study states
In addition, school uniforms are generally a benefit for parents, economically. With uniforms
having the same style every year, albeit with occasional leniencies, there is not much cause for
buying new uniforms yearly besides from a child growing. Without a school uniform, teenagers
quickly tire of what they wear to school and want to get new clothes around every month. This is
due to students wanting to stay with the times and the latest trends. In the logic of the adolescent
mind, if you have the latest clothes, then it will boost your reputation and status on the school map,
and so a time consuming cycle is forged. This would cost the parents more of their salary that could

1991 when the remaining 283 million barrels are produced. o Production costs were held
constant relative to the production amount, including depreciation due to the unit of production
method currently used by Gulf (Production will be the same, so depreciation amount will be the
same) o Because Gulf uses the LIFO method to account for inventory, it is assumed that new
reserves are expensed the same year that they are discovered and all other exploratory costs,
including geological and geophysical costs are charged against income as incurred. o Since
there will be no more exploration going forward, the only expenses that will be considered are
the costs involved with production to deplete the reserves. o The price of oil was not expected to

Compromise Of 1877 Dbq
Compromise, without a doubt, plays one of the most important roles in moving a society forward. It
allows people to put conflicts behind them and to focus on the future and what it offers them. As
seen many times throughout history, problems and disputes can create barriers that prevent growth
and development of society. However, when people work together and make negotiations, they are
able to move onto more important things, rather than dwell on the past. For instance, the Camp
David Accords ended the war and constant tension between Egypt and Israel. The two countries had
been at odds since the foundation of Israel in the mid nineteen hundreds. Wars raged on between
them for decades without any solution, until Anwar Sadat was elected president of Egypt. His goal

Similarities And Differences Between Antonia And The Great...
Both books were about love in some way. They both focus on a character who cares very deeply
for a significant woman. Gatsby was obsessed over Daisy. Jim loved Antonia. The woman they
loved had difficult lives, due to the fact that women s lives were set up to be made hard. They
had to marry a man of decent wealth, or do slave work. These were most women s only choices.
There were no jobs other than slave work for a woman, with only a few exceptions. Antonia was
stuck doing slave work for years, while Daisy was with a horrible rich man for support.
With both books one main choice a woman had to make was whether they would depend on a
man. Daisy made the choice yes, while Antonia at first was against this. In this world they lived
in, the easiest life decision they could make would usually be to find a nice man they could fall in
love with, marry, and depend on financially. This world was a man s world when it came to
work, so almost every woman would want a man. If this is the life they choose to lead, then they
need to maintain the perfect image that men look for. They need to live with a respectable
family if doing slave work, not have any children already, not have had sex with anyone and
have the information known publicly, and so on. Men, especially men of wealth, won t be
attracted to a woman who contradicts any of these. Therefore, Antonia had a hard time. She was
offered a job with a man who is known to sleep with his workers, or worse, but pays far more
than the opposing jobs she could get. She would be putting her reputation down the drain if she
accepted, but at this point in time she wasn t looking to depend on anyone. Daisy fell in love with
a man of much wealth, who has regular affairs. She shows her love for him a handful of times
throughout The Great Gatsby, so she wasn t involved for just the money. The money is most likely
why she fell for him in the first place, and part of the reason she stays, but over time she
developed a love for him. Tom is a horrible husband to Daisy, but without him she would have
next to no income, with no job opportunities that would help her match her life style. This is why
life can be so difficult for women at this time. They can t get good jobs, and in many

French Canadian Catholic Identity
French Canada: the rise and decline of a church nation by Sylvie Lacombe covers the influence the
Canadian Catholic Church had on French Canadians from the early nineteenth century until the mid
twentieth century. It explores how the failed Upper Canada rebellions led to British parliamentary
control over the French via the Act of Union in 1840. This enabled the Catholic Churchto take over
several provincial social institutions which came to influence nationalistic ideas and values. Thus,
many French Canadians believed themselves to be part of a church state . However, Irish Catholic

Martel demonstrates that new English nationalistic ideas (in response to immigration) brought new
threats of assimilation towards this identity, particularly to French Canadian citizens not living in
Quebec. French Canadians, originally hesitant to colonize these Western Canadian areas were now
encouraged to protect them as they saw these nations as isolated communities of French culture.
Finally, both Lacombe and Laplante demonstrate that when the Catholic Church had less influence
on political and social institutions, the church became less of a defining concept of the French
Canadian identity. These three, when grouped together, also provide a chronological overview of
the rise and fall of Catholic influence among French Canadian citizens. Lacombe provides the
reasons for the rise during the nineteenth century, and its subsequent decline in the early twentieth
century. Martel demonstrates how French Canadian citizens were motivated to preserve their
Catholic identity when they began to lose control of the Catholic dioceses outside Quebec during
the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. Laplante explores the transition of Quebec to a
more secular province in the 1960s, where the Catholic Church gave way for the province of
Quebec to provide the national identity of French Canadian citizens. The papers by Lacombe and
Martel have similar time frames during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, with the Lacombe

Criminal Appeal Process
Federal Criminal Appeal Process as a Social Policy
The losing party in a judgment by a federal district court, in general has a right to appeal the
judgment to the next highest court, which is usually the United States Circuit Court of Appeals. In
a federal criminal case, the government may not appeal a not guilty verdict, though they may appeal
the sentence imposed on a criminal convict. In a federal criminal case, the defendant may appeal
their conviction and the sentence.

Secondly, as stated above, the burden of proof is on the appellant to prove that an error occurred
and that the error was substantial. Errors that do not impinge on the substantial rights of the
appellant are disregarded as harmless error. Number of Appeals Overview
As a general rule, the final judgment of a lower district may only be appealed once to the next
higher court. Therefore, the total number of appeals is dependent upon the total number of superior
courts to the lower district court, which rendered the judgment. The first appeal is the appeal as of
right (Levenson, 2017). The appeal as of right entitles the appellant to the assistance of counsel
(Levenson, 2017).
Steps in Filing a Timely Appeal: File the Notice of Appeal
Filing an appeal is ordinarily a two step process: firstly, file the notice of appeal. The notice of
appeal is filed with the lower district court, which simply notifies the lower district court that the
defendant is appealing the case. The United States Circuit Court of Appeals may not consider an
appeal, if the lower district court has not received timely notice of appeal. In criminal appeals,
notice of appeal must be filed within ten days from the date the lower district court s judgment if
filed (Levenson, 2017).
Secondly, file the appellate brief with the United States Circuit Court of Appeals. As stated above,

Military community including active duty, reserves, and retired members. America s military is the
biggest and strongest military in the world, and only continues to keep growing and advancing. Due
to the checks and balances of the government also common knowledge the president is
consequently the commander in chiefof the powerhouse United States Military. Recently there has
been a severe change in the military since Donald Trump came into office, causing a so called
messy problem. More specifically, a change that involves the transgendercommunity as well.
Trump declared that transgender individuals are no longer allowed to serve in the... Show more

During the interview, he made several substantial, and exceptional, points. He, like everyone else
who has experience in and understands the military, agreed with Trump s ban on transgenders. I
think Trump did what others were afraid to do... I believe it is a utopian view to say let them
serve. It is not that simplistic (Bellis). It is important to note that he does not hate or despise
transgenders, however he just thought that it would be what is best for that community. As Bellis
said in the interview, I am not against homosexuals [or anyone in the LGBT community] in the
military. They have served for years honorably, and will continue to serve honorably regardless of
politics. Yet, he brings about several distinguished points about potential issues in the standards of
the military for transgenders. As most people know, the military has a strict discipline policy for
every soldier, regardless of race, gender, or orientation. Part of this discipline policy are both
dress code and physical fitness standards. This means that every soldier must be able to pass a
physical fitness test, and must follow ordinance with the uniform policy. This becomes problematic
with transgenders when trying to decide which physical fitness standards they should be judged
on, or which dress code they can follow. Like what Bellis said in the interview:
While a male is transitioning to a female, will they

Disadvantages Of Public Transport
I.Introduction (Christian Matthew Carbonell)
Everyday people would take different forms of transport simply because of some occasions and
obligations to attend to. Many people prefer using public transportation vehicles because they
don t have the budget to buy their own cars or because no one would accompany them to their
destination. Most people would wake up very early and set their time. Some would record how
long and how fast they should be taking a transport. Recording the time of walking to the
transportation terminal, the amount of time inside, and going to work or school is a good way
for a commuter to develop time management. No one can really predict what may occur when
taking a transport. The recorded time will not be the same as the next time the person would
commute, because there would be unexpected events that could either delay or hasten travel. It is
a person s decision whether to keep going or stop. A common issue in riding a transport is the
limited amount of people are allowed to go inside that transport. Commuters would usually be
stressed, because of technical difficulties or problem. There is a Facebook page called MRT: Mga

These vehicles may be owned by government entities as public utilities or by private entities for
their own profit. These means of public transport are important to the country s development
because most people need to use mass transport to meet commitments or fulfill obligations like
going to school or work, especially when the places they need to go to are particularly far from
where they live. However, there are many forms of public transport for people to choose from and
not all of them available in a given situation are convenient for the job, so people tend to be choosy
with these modes of transport to

Sarty Snopes In William Falkner s Barn Burning
Generally, in life, you look up to your father to be your care taker, and to encourage you to make
smart life decisions. Fathers should have your best interest at heart and show compassion for you.
However, that wasn t the scenario for Sarty Snopes in William Falkner s Barn Burning . William
Falkner, the author of Barn Burningwas born in 1897. His parents, Murry Faulkner and Maud
Butler Falkner, named him after his paternal great grandfather, William Clark Falkner, an
adventurous and shrewd man who seven years prior was shot dead in the town square of Ripley,
Mississippi . (Biography) William Faulknerwas relatively unidentified until receiving the 1949
Nobel Prize in Literature. In Barn Burning , there are many instances that occurs which

His father struck him with the flat of his hand on the side of the head, hard but without heat,
exactly as he had stuck the two mules at the store, exactly as he would strike either of them with
any stick in order to kill a house fly, his voice still without heat or anger (482). Sarty now realizes
that his father is abusive and senseless. Sarty just wants to be truthful because its morally right, and
his doesn t like that.
The last example of Sarty s point of view of his father happens shortly after Sarty told De Spain
about the barn. I could run on and on and never look back, never need to see his face again (489).
Sarty at this point is fed up with his father and never wants to see him again. Sarty can live the rest
of his life on his own without his father.
The father figure is important to a young growing boy. In Barn Burning , there are several
examples that occurs which demonstrates Sarty s point of view of his father. Sarty s father
should ve tried to be a role model for his son. When I was younger I looked up to my father and

The ease of which individuals can access the Internet from virtually anywhere at any time means
that they can be mate hunting 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Despite the aforementioned ethical
issues, I believe that the high success rate of online dating sites should preclude small fibs and
exaggerations in online profiles. The online dating industry will continue to grow for years to come
as it is still only in its infancy and has not yet come close to reaching its full potential. * * * * * * *

Normative Social Conformity
The influence of other people can cause individuals to change their point of view or alter their
behaviour. There are two types of social influence; normative social influence, which is when the
individual will go along with the majority in order to appear normal , and then informational social
influence, when the individual conforms because they trust the judgement of those in authority
positions such as teachers, doctors and parents. If an individual is influenced the majority and
becomes compliant to others, this is known as conforming. Kelman (1958) argued that there are
three types of conformity; internalisation, compliance and identification. A study by Sherif (1935)
tested the effects of informational social influence and conformity. Later on, Asch (1951)
conducted a research study looking at the effects of normative social influence and conformity on
individuals. Zimbardo (1973) studied conformity to social roles in order to demonstrate how certain
roles have behaviours expected from society. These studies demonstrate how an individual may
behave due to social influence in a set up environment that can then be related to real world
situations.
Sherif (1935) researched whether an individual can be influenced by others when doing an
ambiguous task, one where the answer is not always clear. He conducted a laboratory experiment
and used the autokinetic effect where a light appeared to be moving, but really it was a visual
illusion. Firstly he asked participants to

Review Of Things Fall Apart
Duke Garlin February 29, 2016 English period 3 How Strength and Manliness Shows Weakness
There are many recurring themes in the novel, Things Fall Apart, by Chinua Achebe; however,
for the purpose of this paper a detailed analysis from a specific quote would be conducted. The
story of Okonkwo is in a way the story of our culture; he pays a price because he places too much
emphasis on strength and manliness. Strength and manliness can promote an array of
translations in order to justify actions within the novel and within today s American society. If it
s comparing an egotistical mindset of a character of this novel or certain beings that tend to
portray these features, there are always certain characteristics that are consistent. It isn t
coincidental that strength is in association with manliness, however asserting these words in
extreme forms of actions is far from powerful. There are many phrases within this novel and
within today s society that are used to degrade a man s ego. The similarities are resorting to
some form of femininity one is displaying. That was why he had called him a woman. Okonkwo
knew how to kill a man s spirit (Achebe 32). This quote emphasizes on the word, woman in the
degradation of a man s spirit, and quite frankly in modern America, the phrase such as, stop acting
like a girl, is used often as a form of a male not obtaining enough manliness in a situation. Later on
in the novel Okonkwo believe that though his strength seems up to

Technology Dbq
Why do you think we are advanced in technology today? It all started years ago, when the first
humans Adam and Eve were on earth and were capable of communicating with one another.
Than flash forward to 8,000 years ago, the first evidence of an alphabet was found from the
Phoenician around 1500 BCE. People started to write on papyrus and then they started to write on
scrolls. Monks started to write on books in a room known as a scriptorium. The scriptorium was
also known as a copying room. In 600 CE the Chinese introduced the woodblock printing. This was
difficult for the Chinese because they had to carve 50,000 characters on wood and eventually the
carve letters would wear out. A man named Johannes Gutenberg saw his chance to make something

To recap, the printing press was a phenomenal and a unique apparatus. It was constructed by a
goldsmith named Johannes Gutenberg. The printing press made the lives of everyone simple, it
was used for printing things. It was a big advancement during this time period. It was auspicious
and many famous people used it such as Martin Luther. Martin Luther used it because he was
disappointed with his church because they were selling indulgences. The printing press made it
possible for Luther to copy 95 theses and nail them in the front door. The 95 these were known all
through out, this would be impossible without the printing press to make the 95 Theses known
throughout Germany in two weeks and throughout Europe in a month. . Although one of the
consequences of the printing press was exploration, reformation was the most important because
the printing press made people more literate and created new believes. They had a better
understanding of the Bible and were able to tell if the pope was lying to them or not. This is why
the most important consequence of the printing press was

The purpose of this essay is to discuss the clinical differences in the diagnosis of both Major
Depressive Disorder (Unipolar depression) and Bipolar Depression can be made on the basis of
characteristics of a Major Depressive Episode (MDE). That is, can an MDE in patients with
Major Depressive Disorder be differentiated from a MDE in patients with Bipolar Disorder?
Firstly, the extremes in mood, Major Depressive Episode and mania/hypomania will be defined
and it will be explained how they contribute to a diagnosis of MDD or Bipolar Disorder based on
the diagnostic criteria of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. Secondly, the
importance of differentiating the two disorders based on MDE characteristics will be explained.
Thirdly, the literature on the clinical characteristics of MDE in Bipolar and Unipolar Depression
will be reviewed. Lastly, this essay will touch on what this means for clinicians in their decisions in
diagnosing patients with Major Depressive Disorderor Bipolar disorder. The main features of
Major Depressive Episodes (MDE) include a depressed mood for most days and loss of interest
and pleasure in enjoyable activities (also known as ahedonia). For the diagnoses of a MDE to be
made, these symptoms must be experienced for at least two weeks and symptoms must cause
significant impact on day to day functioning (APA, 2013). Additional symptoms include lack of

Essay on Hero-Anti Hero
Superman, Wonder Woman, Spiderman what do all these characters have in common? They
are all products of the human aspiration to be saved. The word hero is passed around too much
these days. A hero is not a football player that scores the game winning touchdown or the
goaltender who saves his team from a loss. A hero is usually an ordinary person that did
extraordinary things. A true hero is really never a hero at all; at least not in their own mind.
However, there are various cases today in which we see the exact opposites of these characters,
the anti heroes. The anti hero is one who cannot be classified as a hero, for that said character
lacks natural heroic qualities. However, the anti hero cannot be described as a villain either.... Show

On his 40th Labor Day telethon in 2005, Jerry Lewis added Salvation Army fundraising for
Hurricane Katrina to his usual Muscular Dystrophy Assosiation fundraising, though he also
encouraged viewers to give to the American Red Cross. Not all of what Jerry Lewis has done has
been good, but no hero is perfect. Aside from controversy from the community of disabled people
with comments he has made, Jerry Lewis can still be considered a hero for the great charitable
work he has done for the benefit of others.
A reasonable example for an anti hero could be Al Capone. Despite the common image that is
portrayed in society of Al Capone, there was some that Capone did as good for others during the
Depression. Part of the reason Capone was taken to task in this way was his status as a celebrity.
Capone often tried to suppress his image and be seen as a community leader. For instance, he
started a program to fight rickets by providing a daily milk ration to Chicago school children. Also
during the Great Depression, he attempted to open up many soup kitchens for the poor and
homeless. Although most of the money he used to do this may have been related to his selling or
gang violence, or even his bootlegging of liqour, he still attempted using some of it for a good
cause. He acquired a great deal of appreciation from abounding poor persons in Chicago for his
blatant disregard of the Prohibition law that they loathed. He was percepted

Neiman Marcus and Target are stores that provide goods and services to consumers in a traditional

Whereas Target is considered a discount retailer, second only to Wal Mart, providing a wide variety

  • 4. Monetary Policy Rules And Monetary Policies I. Introduction Monetary policy rules are a fundamental part of the central bank models and are often refined to maximize economic welfare, specific to that country. Monetary policy rules are a methodical response of monetary policy events in the economy. Essentially, it can be thought of as a numeric equation, which determines the appropriate level for the central bank s policy instrument to be a function of one or more economic variables that describe the state of the economy. It is imperative that economies model the reaction of their monetary authorities to changes in their respective economic conditions; this equation is essentially a reaction function. A reaction function utilizes its instruments to stabilize inflation and output ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The output gaps for both countries are related to their potential and real Gross Domestic Products (GDP) in their respective currencies. Likewise for both countries, inflation is related to the Consumer Price Index (CPI). Figure 1 depicts a picture of very similar output gaps between the two countries, however the United States falls at a quicker rate. Therefore, the slope of the U.S. is higher. Canada s economy from the year 2000 2007 operates above its capacity to withstand the level of production due to excess demand and begins to fall just after, similar to the United States whom have transitioned between positive and negative output gaps since the beginning of the decade. Figure 2 shows inflation rates above 1.5, however they take a drastic fall in 2008 2009, which will correspond to the recession both economies were facing. Prices in both economies plummeted, the U.S. falling almost 4% from 2008. Although never really constant, the inflation rates prior to the recession were rather normal in both countries, however the instability could be a combination of a reduction in the supply of money in the economy and a lack of regulation of the monetary policy rule. A financial analysis of the Champion Road Machinery Company was performed in order to provide recommendations on the dividends distribution policy. Decision on the Company s dividends policy will depend on three main factors: * Current financial situation (Cash flow, Required Retained Earnings, Projected Growth, and Equity available for distribution) * Industry and main competitors dividends strategies * Types of shareholders and their goals and expectations from the Company Based on the above mentioned information, our recommendation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (See table 3). In taking decision on the dividends policy management should also take into consideration the expectations of its shareholders. Champion has three main groups of shareholders: * Seqouia a private investment firm. It focuses on high risk opportunities with the potential growth in sales, earnings and cash flows, which would translate into stock appreciation. This group of shareholders could be interested in long term growth rather then in giving out dividends now. * Institutional investors (including large Canadian based money managers Retail Investors mainly interested in capital gains rather then in regular dividends payments. To conclude, the majority of shareholders would prefer to keep the cash in the company for the future investments. Conclusion and Recommendations: Should Champion declare dividends, and if so how much per share (DPS), and the total ($ amount)? We would recommend Champion to have a Regular dividend plus extra policy that will enable them to pay extra dividends in good periods, when profits and cash flow are high and at the same time follow the competitors. For 1994, we recommend Champion to have annual regular dividend (based on the industry average) of $0.42 and amount available for special dividends would be $1,908,600.00 with DPS $0.17 (see table 1). This document outlines the processes that will be used in the identification, recording, discussion, and response to risks as well as the roles of the project team. Inadequate attention to risk brings about cost overruns, inadequate technical performance and schedule delays. The project risk plan will record the team s decisions on risk managementto establish a clear standard way for the actions to be taken. Moreover, the plan will be utilized throughout the project life. Risks are the potential events that may occur in the course of a project, and if they occur would adversely affect the project scope, schedule, quality and/or resources. • 8. The Effects Of Americans On Indian Life One cannot examine U.S. history without looking at the interactions between Native Americans and Americans. From colonization to industrialization, conflicts between these groups have always been prevalent. Indians have been stripped of their land, heritage and status. Our guns, germ and culture have killed them. One can see this power struggle in many pieces of literature. Two being, Crazy Horse: A Life , a secondary source focusing on a Siouxwarrior Crazy Horse and the Plains peoples, and Indian Trader John Lawson s Journal of Carolina 1709, a primary source that describes an English merchant s encounter with Indians in Carolina. This paper will focus on the effects of Americans on Indian life. Crazy Horse: A Life is a secondary source of information that tells the story of Sioux leader Crazy Horse and his tribe. As Whites invade their land for gold Crazy Horse has to find a way to keep his home. Throughout the source, Larry McMurtry, with little evidence, draws up the rise and fall of Crazy Horse. From early on it was evident of the whites were moving into the Plains peoples settlements, The author wrote, ...at first the pressure of white intrusion may have been subtle but and slight but it was present, and would be present throughout his entire life... the Sioux people and others way of life was dying because of the settlements of white people on their land. Their settlements cause the game to leave the area, which in turn hurt the hunters of the tribe. With these ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. How Did The Fur Trade Affect American Culture The standard history of the fur trade tended to consider the Aboriginal Canadians as monolithic and treated them as completely subject to European dominance, economic and technological, from first contact. They argued that exploitative dealings and reliance on European technology immediately and inevitably led to the collapse of native societies. More recently historians, such as Bruce Trigger, while examining the Hurons drew attention to different elements of Huron society and how they responded to European influence over time. Other historians such as Abraham Rothstein have examined the cultural rather than economic aspects of the fur tradeand maintained that it was not the exploitative relationship presented by the traditional view. • 10. The Human Body Cope With Stress I am someone who is deeply interested in studying the human condition as it ranges in response to a variety of life experiences and stressors. Humans respond to stress differently and largely as a function of their environmental context. The many ways in which the systems of the human body cope with stress can influence long term health and developmental outcomes that may even cross over into subsequent generations. Much of my curiosity in learning about human development stems from my own family background. In fact, my parents are refugees from the country of Eritrea; they fled from the Eritrean Ethiopian civil war as the people of Eritrea fought for their independence from Ethiopian rule. My parents, along with thousands of others, sought political asylum and eventually found refuge in the United States. My parents recount their experiences of having to stealthily travel from camp to camp and entering neighboring countries that forced them to assimilate for the sake of their safety and survival. Currently, Eritrea continues to experience a outflux of its citizens by the thousands as they attempt to escape the despotism in government that currently plagues the land. The experiences of my parents and the countless other immigrants of Eritrea motivate me so strongly to focus and draw parallels to the current experiences of people who have been directly impacted by the crisis in Syria. It inspires me to grasp a better understanding firsthand of the affected Syrian ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In this region, child poverty affects about 81 million people under the age of 18. Latin America has recorded a decrease in the infant mortality rate. The infant mortality dropped from 128 deaths per 1,000 lives births to 26 per 1,000 live births, which an 80 percent decline. ( Life Expectancy in Latin America and the Caribbean in 2015 | Statistic ) Unlike many other countries where their levels of health concerns may be low, Latin America has a high rate of growth stunting, which is when a person is very short for their age. Although income poverty has not changed very much over the years, there has been many improvements in child health and nutrition. The Battle of the Crater Introduction The Battle of the Crater was supposed to be an unexpected attempt by Union forces to break through the Confederate defenses south of a critical hub near Petersburg, Virginia. The battle took place on the morning of July 30 1864, and consisted of 16,500 IX Corps Union soldiers and approximately 9,500 Confederate soldiers.1 Ambrose E. Burnside lead the IX Corps soldiers but overall command of the Union soldiers known as Grant s Army of the Potomac was by General George G. Meade. The confederate soldiers were mostly made up of elements of the Army of Northern Virginia and South Carolina and were led by William Mahone under the direct order of Robert E. Lee. The Union decided to explode a mine under the Confederates and blow a gap into their defensive lines. Petersburg, Virginia was an important location due to the railheads that merged together there. The railhead then continued to Richmond the capital to deliver supplies to the Confederate Army. 2 History Some of the worst fighting between Ulysses S. Grant s Army of the Potomac and General Robert E. Lee s Army happened in the months leading up to the Battle of the Crater near Petersburg, Virginia. The two armies clashed at such places as the Wilderness, Spotsylvania Court House, the North Anna River, Cold Harbor, and along the defensive perimeter around Petersburg.3 The ... She documents the evaluation and recommends him for discharge without further physical therapy services. Later that day Mr. Smith confronts Mary about not receiving therapy, expresses his discontent, and questions the integrity of her and the facility.8 The ethical dilemma is uncovered when Mary realizes that her decision to follow the facility s procedure has had a negative impact on Mr. Smith s well being. The obvious bad here is that he won t be provided access to the physical therapy services that he believes will benefit him. The less obvious is that Mr. Smith has been denied his autonomy the right to follow his own plan,7(p.147) and the ethical principle of beneficence the moral requirement to do what is best for the individual patient,5(p.68) has been ignored. The theme of peace and war is that it is a central theme or one of the central themes and quite often, the characters are gripped in the turmoil of conflict, while hoping for days of peace to come or reminiscing about the good life before the waritself. Peace and War has been explored throughout the whole novelas the seven teenagers go out in their town Wirrawee where it is in the middle of an all out war. This causes them to do things they have never done before in which they are forced to fight and make sure that they don t get caught or killed as well as hope that their families are safe. 168. • 15. Peter Temple the Broken Shore Views and Values Essay THE BROKEN SHORE Peter Temple s acclaimed crime fiction novel The Broken Shore chronicles the unfolding of a murder investigation on the rugged Victorian coastline through the eyes of a morally flexible small town cop. The novel showcases the complex social structures apparent in contemporary rural Victoria, particularly focusing on the often shaky relations between anglo and indigenous Australians. It also addresses the segregation between the have s and the have not s within society and the institutions that separate the social classes and explores the intricacies of the arguably broken Australian/Victorian legal system. Through the commentary of characters like Cashin and Cecily Addison, who are both relative outsiders in Cromarty, Temple is able to convey a fictional first hand view of the insular society that holds in high esteem the likes of Charles Bourgoyne and Helen Castlemen, as they are moneyed, educated and challenge the stereotypical country hick labels that are often collectively placed on citizens residing in rural areas. Through the use of Cashin and Cecily, Temple is also able to construct an unbiased observation of how these same areas discriminate against the, often indigenous and/or low socio economic, down trodden members of society and ostracise them both physically, through the demarkation line that tells indigenous Australians where they can and cannot live, restricting them to the Daunt settlement , and also intellectually, through the copious use of words like coon and nigger in regard to the blackfellas . Surprisingly it is not only the bogan esque beach bums who assert their politically incorrect and blatantly racist attitudes towards the indigenous residents. Members of the working class like Hopgood and his team for example also exhibit prejudice against the Aboriginals and contrary to the traditional innocent til proven guilty notion it seems to be more of a guilty til proven innocent situation when the young coons are suspected of robbing and murdering Bourgoyne. • 16. The Presidential Election Process The presidential election process is a long and complicated procedure. Currently, we elect our president and vice president by an indirect device known as the Electoral College. Under this system, each state has as many electors as it has representatives and senators. Candidates who win a plurality of the popular vote in a state secure all the states electoral votes. In order to win a presidential election, a candidate must appeal successfully to the big states, such as California and Texas. Many people are dissatisfied with our country s current election process. A candidate could win the popular vote but lose the electoral vote, and thus lose the presidency. This method has led to a lot of controversies and may eventually lead to election reforms. The primary is the first step in choosing a party s presidential candidate. In most countries, the party picks the candidates. But in the US, voters who declare support for one party or another gets to choose from the list of candidates. • 17. Informative Effects Of Holocaust Concentration Camps Daelyn Sagert September 5, 2017 Comp 4th Informative essay Holocaust Concentration Camps The Holocaust nearly made the Jewish population and religion disappear from the face of the Earth. From January 30, 1933 to May 8, 1945; Adolf Hitler, German politician and leader of the Nazi party, ran the Holocaust all over Germany and Eastern Europe. Prisoners and victims of the Holocaust include: the majority of the Jewish population, German Communists, Socialists, Social Democrats, Roma (Gypsies), Jehovah s Witnesses, homosexuals, and people accused of socially deviant or socially unacceptable behavior. They were sent to many different areas that had different purposes. The most used places they were sent to are called concentration camps. Once they entered the concentration camps, there was no escaping; those people officially became prisoners. There were 23 main concentration camps and around 900 sub camps. Concentration camps tricked the Jewish people into coming into them by offering them a better life on the welcoming signs outside. Some of the main camps had many different inhumane uses. All of the camps are notorious for their cruel and evil ways of everything that they did to prisoners, such as the genocide the Holocaust caused (Concentration Camps, Killing Methods, Jewish Population). A lesser known camp, Westerbork, is located in the Netherlands. This concentration camp was known as a Transit camp, which meant it wasn t the end of the line for the prisoners who arrived there. These camps were a temporary accommodation for the groups of prisoners that were being shipped throughout the country. Often these camps are where families were split up by German Nazi soldiers. Westerbork was used from October 1939 through April 1945. This camp was shut down by Canadian liberation. Westerbork still stands as a monument today (Concentration Camps). The next concentration camp, Dachau, is located in Germany. This camp was the longest running major concentration camp throughout the Holocaust. It started being used in March 1933 and was not shut down until April 1945. This was a forced labor camp, so the majority of people survived when at this camp, but you didn t always get to stay there unless you worked as hard as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The main obstacles of the American dream include race, the time period and dedication. With this world suffering from racism, race is a major obstacle in achieving the American dream. Throughout history, it is apparent that whites have an edge in obtaining the dream. This is because the major settlers of America were white. The sea witch warned her about the terrible consequences of her decision: every time your foot touches the ground it will feel as though you were walking on knives so sharp that your blood must flow. (68) And more severely, if she failed to marry the prince, the first morning after he has married another, your heart will break and you will become foam on the ocean. The prince treated her as his lovely pet and she, who sacrificed her voice for legs, could not reveal the truth that she was the girl who saved him. We saw him briefly, but the brilliance of his contrast with the thane he trusted has kept his memory beautiful throughout a play whose every other feature has been hideous. Gatsby was obsessed over Daisy. Jim loved Antonia. The woman they loved had difficult lives, due to the fact that women s lives were set up to be made hard. They had to marry a man of decent wealth, or do slave work. These were most women s only choices. There were no jobs other than slave work for a woman, with only a few exceptions. Antonia was stuck doing slave work for years, while Daisy was with a horrible rich man for support. With both books one main choice a woman had to make was whether they would depend on a man. Daisy made the choice yes, while Antonia at first was against this. In this world they lived in, the easiest life decision they could make would usually be to find a nice man they could fall in love with, marry, and depend on financially. This world was a man s world when it came to work, so almost every woman would want a man. If this is the life they choose to lead, then they need to maintain the perfect image that men look for. They need to live with a respectable family if doing slave work, not have any children already, not have had sex with anyone and have the information known publicly, and so on. Men, especially men of wealth, won t be attracted to a woman who contradicts any of these. Therefore, Antonia had a hard time. She was offered a job with a man who is known to sleep with his workers, or worse, but pays far more than the opposing jobs she could get. She would be putting her reputation down the drain if she accepted, but at this point in time she wasn t looking to depend on anyone. Daisy fell in love with a man of much wealth, who has regular affairs. She shows her love for him a handful of times throughout The Great Gatsby, so she wasn t involved for just the money. The money is most likely why she fell for him in the first place, and part of the reason she stays, but over time she developed a love for him. Tom is a horrible husband to Daisy, but without him she would have next to no income, with no job opportunities that would help her match her life style. This is why life can be so difficult for women at this time. They can t get good jobs, and in many ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. French Canadian Catholic Identity French Canada: the rise and decline of a church nation by Sylvie Lacombe covers the influence the Canadian Catholic Church had on French Canadians from the early nineteenth century until the mid twentieth century. It explores how the failed Upper Canada rebellions led to British parliamentary control over the French via the Act of Union in 1840. This enabled the Catholic Churchto take over several provincial social institutions which came to influence nationalistic ideas and values. Thus, many French Canadians believed themselves to be part of a church state . However, Irish Catholic immigration, new Anglo Saxon imperialistic ideologies and the loss of French speaking schools in the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Martel demonstrates that new English nationalistic ideas (in response to immigration) brought new threats of assimilation towards this identity, particularly to French Canadian citizens not living in Quebec. French Canadians, originally hesitant to colonize these Western Canadian areas were now encouraged to protect them as they saw these nations as isolated communities of French culture. Finally, both Lacombe and Laplante demonstrate that when the Catholic Church had less influence on political and social institutions, the church became less of a defining concept of the French Canadian identity. These three, when grouped together, also provide a chronological overview of the rise and fall of Catholic influence among French Canadian citizens. Lacombe provides the reasons for the rise during the nineteenth century, and its subsequent decline in the early twentieth century. Martel demonstrates how French Canadian citizens were motivated to preserve their Catholic identity when they began to lose control of the Catholic dioceses outside Quebec during the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. Laplante explores the transition of Quebec to a more secular province in the 1960s, where the Catholic Church gave way for the province of Quebec to provide the national identity of French Canadian citizens. The papers by Lacombe and Martel have similar time frames during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, with the Lacombe article examining a longer ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In a federal criminal case, the defendant may appeal their conviction and the sentence. The party who files the appeal is known as the appellant. The appellant has the burden of proof. Therefore, the total number of appeals is dependent upon the total number of superior courts to the lower district court, which rendered the judgment. The first appeal is the appeal as of right (Levenson, 2017). The appeal as of right entitles the appellant to the assistance of counsel (Levenson, 2017). Steps in Filing a Timely Appeal: File the Notice of Appeal Filing an appeal is ordinarily a two step process: firstly, file the notice of appeal. The notice of appeal is filed with the lower district court, which simply notifies the lower district court that the defendant is appealing the case. The United States Circuit Court of Appeals may not consider an appeal, if the lower district court has not received timely notice of appeal. It is important to note that he does not hate or despise transgenders, however he just thought that it would be what is best for that community. As Bellis said in the interview, I am not against homosexuals [or anyone in the LGBT community] in the military. They have served for years honorably, and will continue to serve honorably regardless of politics. As most people know, the military has a strict discipline policy for every soldier, regardless of race, gender, or orientation. Part of this discipline policy are both dress code and physical fitness standards. This means that every soldier must be able to pass a physical fitness test, and must follow ordinance with the uniform policy. This becomes problematic with transgenders when trying to decide which physical fitness standards they should be judged on, or which dress code they can follow. Disadvantages Of Public Transport I.Introduction (Christian Matthew Carbonell) Everyday people would take different forms of transport simply because of some occasions and obligations to attend to. Many people prefer using public transportation vehicles because they don t have the budget to buy their own cars or because no one would accompany them to their destination. Most people would wake up very early and set their time. Some would record how long and how fast they should be taking a transport. Recording the time of walking to the transportation terminal, the amount of time inside, and going to work or school is a good way for a commuter to develop time management. No one can really predict what may occur when taking a transport. The recorded time will not be the same as the next time the person would commute, because there would be unexpected events that could either delay or hasten travel. It is a person s decision whether to keep going or stop. A common issue in riding a transport is the limited amount of people are allowed to go inside that transport. • 45. Normative Social Conformity The influence of other people can cause individuals to change their point of view or alter their behaviour. There are two types of social influence; normative social influence, which is when the individual will go along with the majority in order to appear normal , and then informational social influence, when the individual conforms because they trust the judgement of those in authority positions such as teachers, doctors and parents. If an individual is influenced the majority and becomes compliant to others, this is known as conforming. Kelman (1958) argued that there are three types of conformity; internalisation, compliance and identification. A study by Sherif (1935) tested the effects of informational social influence and conformity. Later on, Asch (1951) conducted a research study looking at the effects of normative social influence and conformity on individuals. Zimbardo (1973) studied conformity to social roles in order to demonstrate how certain roles have behaviours expected from society. These studies demonstrate how an individual may behave due to social influence in a set up environment that can then be related to real world situations. The story of Okonkwo is in a way the story of our culture; he pays a price because he places too much emphasis on strength and manliness. Strength and manliness can promote an array of translations in order to justify actions within the novel and within today s American society. If it s comparing an egotistical mindset of a character of this novel or certain beings that tend to portray these features, there are always certain characteristics that are consistent. It isn t coincidental that strength is in association with manliness, however asserting these words in extreme forms of actions is far from powerful. There are many phrases within this novel and within today s society that are used to degrade a man s ego. The similarities are resorting to some form of femininity one is displaying. That was why he had called him a woman. Okonkwo knew how to kill a man s spirit (Achebe 32). This quote emphasizes on the word, woman in the degradation of a man s spirit, and quite frankly in modern America, the phrase such as, stop acting like a girl, is used often as a form of a male not obtaining enough manliness in a situation.
