Essay On Boron On Semen Quality
to boron on semen quality was conducted on boars. Supplemental dietary boron enhanced sperm
velocity characteristics and possibly normal morphology without influencing other measures of
sperm production and semen quality (Korkmaz et al., 2011). The boron group's abstinence time was
found to be longer than that of the control group (Naghii and Saman, 1997a). Korkmaz et al., (2011)
diagnosed oligozoospermia for one of the first two semen samples while the other had a diagnosis of
asthenozoospermia; both cases were accompanied by varicocele. These findings indicate that for
both the boron and control groups, exposure to boron does not play any significant role in the cases
of incompatibility with the normal semen profile. Korkmaz et al., ... Show more content on

Boron added to the extender had no negative effect on the post–thaw motility values and also
increases progressive motility. With respect to all the extenders spermatozoa motility values being
higher than the control group, it can be concluded that this could have positive effects on fertility
(Tirpan and Tekin, 2015). Sodium pentaborate may have provided intracellular energy requirements
especially in freezing and thawing processes. The high motility ratios without the usage of glucose,
which plays an important role in the foreseen energy mechanisms, give rise to the thought that boron
may be used as an energy source for post–thaw process. Boron added to the extender had no
negative effect on the post–thaw motility values and increases progressive motility. It can be
concluded that different amounts of sodium pentaborate added to the extenders have a positive
effect on semen's fertility ability. In the researchers conducted on humans (Turkez et al., 2007) and
rats (Ince et al., 2010) it was notified that boron element reduces lipid peroxidation and thus has an
antioxidative effect. Similar to these studies, when the data from the moderate boron extenders are
considered it can be detected that the lowest dead spermatozoa ratio (Tirpan and Tekin, 2015). The

Leaking Semen
Leaking semen in urine frightens every man experiencing it. It is most of the time extra long–

Pornography Consumption And Sexual Behaviors As Correlates...
The article I chose to review is "Pornography consumption and sexual behaviors as correlates of
erotic dreams and nocturnal emissions." The author of this interesting article is Calvin Kai – Ching
Yu of Hong Kong Shue Yan University, North Point, Hong Kong. The document type is a journal
article and it was published by Educational Publishing Foundation in October of 2012. The type of
study that was done for this article was empirical study and quantitative study. "The study presented
here was geared toward exploring the degree to which the frequencies of sex and wet dreams are
modulated by sexual behaviors during wakefulness, including viewing pornography." The study
examined the degree to which erotic or wet dreams are modulated y sexual behaviors and the use of
pornography in your waking life. Since it had been noted that erotic dreams are much more
prevalent in men than in woman and it was going to be much harder to factor in both genders data
into the analysis of sex dreams, he only used male participants for this study. The real purpose of
this article and study was to see I pornography, sexual fantasy, erotic dreams, and masturbation had
any significant effect on sexual behaviors awake or sleep. To do so Yu had to put together some kind
of method to test a group of men on, in order to find out the answer to his question at hand. Yu did
find some earlier studies that were done by Schredl and King. These studies suggested that sexual

Conservation of Endangered Marsupials Essay
Conservation of Endangered Marsupials
Marsupials are creatures that are a very unique group of mammals. Many creatures are becoming
threatened, and some have already become extinct. Threatened marsupials could be a pool of
agricultural, medicinal, or genetic wealth that we do not yet have the technology to utilize. There are
many methods to conserving these genetic pools; one of which is through reproduction
manipulation. Artificial insemination, embryo transfer, and nuclear transfer are ways in which
marsupials can be conserved if proper adjustments are made. Special considerations for artificial
insemination of marsupials include equipment for collection and distribution, freezing,
cryoprotectant and storage, and seasonality ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Temple–Smith (2003), over 40 marsupial species in Australia need immediate
attention of conservational science. Many methods to conserving these genetic pools are already
being utilized; one of which is reproductively. Artificial insemination, embryo transfer, and nuclear
transfer are ways in which marsupials can be conserved if proper adjustments are made. With proper
knowledge and experience of reproductive systems and methods, such conservation can take place.
Basic Methods
The basic methods that are practically used in commercial agriculture facilities have to be efficient.
Conservation of threatened species techniques has to take the same cues as the commercial facilities.
The tried and true method of artificial insemination is getting more and more advanced to include
smaller and more exotic species. Embryo Transfer is a technology that is a little newer but has good
success rates. And finally nuclear transfer, sometimes called cloning, methods may soon become an
option for saving severely endangered and maybe even extinct animals.
Artificial insemination has come a long way. Originally, a fresh sample of semen was placed
surgically directly into the uterus of the female. Obviously, there were a few drawbacks to this
method. Firstly, having a fresh supply of semen meant there had to be a male in close proximity to
collect semen. Next the change of temperature was too

Artificial Insemination and the Rights of Women, Men, and...
Women have adamantly battled for political and social reproductive rights since, in particular
artificial insemination, have become mainstream phenomena in the recent decade with a focus on
rights of women. In fact, doctors have experimented with the procedure for nearly a century.
However, with the women¹s liberation movement of the 1970s, physician–assisted and self–
insemination has become more and more popular among heterosexual career women and lesbians.

Women, usually healthy and fertile, enlist the help of physicians because they do not have access to
the one element that will yield them a child. And so, doctors prescribe a cure of sorts– sperm. The
procedure allows women increased power to regulate the reproductive processes of their bodies.
Ironically, artificial insemination was not created as a method of empowerment for women. Rather
for men. Male scientists and researchers developed the technology for eugenic purposes, not to
alleviate the pressures of alternative lifestyles of women. That is, to improve the human species.
With the onset of research in genetics in the beginning of the twentieth century, scientists entertained
theories of quality control with respect to human reproduction. Scientists such as Francis Crick and
Dr. William Shockley believed that the growth rate of the population was increasing too rapidly, and
most importantly certain unfavorable demographic clusters were increasing. In short, the wrong
classes and races were reproducing with more frequency than was desired by these men. They hoped
that future progeny would be of the same superior caliber as themselves. To yield this, they
proposed schemes to tax children; to provide cash incentives for sterilization; to license women for
the number of children they may bear and men for the sperm they may deposit in seed banks;

Hiv / Aids : Hiv And Aids
HIV/AIDS is a virus that has been going around for many years. Most people do not really know
what HIV stands for. HIV is a Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV). HIV attacks the part of your
body that fights disease better known as the immune system. The virus makes the immune system
shut down and stop working. The immune system shutting down is the worst part about HIV not
having any signs or symptoms to notify you of the virus is the worst part. Most people that have
HIV looks health and only knew that had the virus by taking blood tests. There is however some
ways a person cannot get HIVAIDS. A person and not transfer AID/HIV by hugging, kissing, talking
to or touching a person with HIV. A person cannot get the virus by sharing foods, drinks using a
public restroom, swimming together. Some of the ways to reduce HIV and AIDS is by Limiting the
number of sexual partners, getting tested and knowing your partner's HIV status.
Limiting the number of sexual partners can reduce HIVAIDS. It is important to have sex with just
one person. "The more sexual partners you have in your lifetime, the more likely you are to have a
sex partner who has HIV or sexually transmitted disease (STD)" so recommended for people to slow
down on their sexual partners. The fewer partners a person have the less chance they have of getting
the virus. Not having sex is the best way to prevent getting or transmitting HIV. Condoms work
really well in stopping most HIV/AIDS from being passed from an infected

Pros And Cons Of Artificial Inemination In The Animal...
Artificial insemination (AI) is the manual placement of semen in the reproductive tract of the female
by a method other than natural mating. AI has been used in the majority of domestic species,
including bees, and also in human beings. It is the most commonly used ART in livestock,
revolutionizing the animal breeding industry during the 20th century. AI is by far the most common
method of breeding intensively kept domestic livestock, such as dairy, and turkeys. It is increasing
in horses, beef cattle and sheep, and has been reported in other domestic species such as dogs, goats,
deer and buffalo.
There are several advantages and disadvantages of the use of artificial insemination. Some
advantages would be that AI helps prevent the spread of infectious or contagious diseases, that can
be passed on when animals are in close contact or share the same environment. The rate of genetic
development and production gain can be increased, by using semen from males of high genetic
merit for superior females. It enables breeding between animals in different geographic locations, or
at different times (even after the male´s death). Breeding can occur in the event of physical,
physiological or behavioral abnormalities. AI is a powerful tool when linked to other reproductive
biotechnologies such as sperm cryopreservation, sperm sexing. AI can be used in conservation of
rare breeds or endangered species. Also, the cost of maintenance of breeding bull is saved. So
disadvantages would be

Ductus Deferens Research Paper
Ductus deferens
The ductus deferens (otherwise known as the vas deferens) is a structure found in the male
reproductive system. There are two ductus deferens and they are identical in their structure and
function. The primary function of the ductus deferens is to store and transport sperm to the
ejaculatory duct, connecting the epididymis, merging into the urethra pushing it forward and
allowing the sperm to exit the body. The ductus deferens are designed for this function,
characterised by thick muscular walls, which perform peristalsis. The inside wall consists of a moist
folded layer of mucous membrane, which is further surrounded by three layers of circular and
longitudinal muscle fibres. At the end of the ductus deferens are the ampulla, ... Show more content

The skin of the scrotum becomes wrinkled due to the underlying dartos muscle. The testes must be
kept at temperature that is lower than 3oC, so that spermatogenesis can occur. The scrotum uses a
muscle (the cremaster muscle) to achieve this. When the cremaster muscle shrinks, the testes move
closer to the scrotum, and this increases the temperature of them. They can also be cooled down by
dilating and moving away from the testes, dropping them in temperature. The testes receive their
blood flow from the anterior and posterior scrotal artery. The venous blood flows through the
testicular veins and then into the vena cava. Another function of the testes is to protect the testes
from injury, hence why one testis hangs lower than the other, to avoid compression in the event of
impact.
Testes (Male gonads)
The testes are two ovular organs found in the male reproductive system. They are held in place by a
spermatic cord, which is a collection of vessels, nerves and ducts that run from more than one part
of the testes. The testes function to create the hormone testosterone; a primary male sex hormone
which generates the production of sperm. The seminiferous tubules which are located in the testes
are responsible for the production of sperm cells, and the sperm made in this process line the tubules
until they reach maturity and are released into the lumen of the seminiferous tubule.

Analysis Of Eileen Chang 's Red Rose, White Rose
"When a man is longing to have sex with a woman, he becomes interested in her soul, and deceives
himself that he is in love with that soul; only after possessing her body, he can forget about her soul.
Perhaps this is the only way to liberate himself." This is a famous quote from the novel "Red Rose,
White Rose" written by Eileen Chang, one of the most influential contemporary Chinese female
writers. There is no doubt that some modern critics and feminists may point out that this idea of
gender role is opposed to gender equality and balance of a relationship. However, men and women
throughout generations do possess distinctive "functions" congenitally and, eventually, lead to
different mentality and physiological reactions when they fall ... Show more content on

Concubines were selected in the Forbidden City, and the healthiest and most virtuous girls were
honored to serve the emperor. Although a bit exaggerated, relation between the emperor and
concubines symbolize the dynamics between male and female.
In the sharp contrast to active sperms, female only produces one ovum cell per month, which mainly
functions as a "protector" and a "nurturer". It creates a safe and warm environment, producing
nutrimental supplies that nourish the embryo. In addition, egg is so loyal that, with the help of
cortical granules filled with enzyme , it forms a cell membrane that keeps other sperms from
entering. Imagine that millions of agile sperms competed with others and anxiously approach to one
target –– egg –– no wonder only the most courageous and intelligent one wins the battle. Battle
among sperms, to some extent, epitomizes male mindset of fighting off other men. Therefore, they
are naturally more active; their organs for locomotion and control are inherently more flexible in
order to maximize the possibility to defeat other males.

Zinc Term Paper
Zinc, a common mineral located on the periodic table, plays a significant role in how our bodies
function. Found in different foods like meats, nuts, dairy products and certain vegetables; Zinc is an
essential nutrient that the body needs on a regular basis. The RDA (Recommended Daily Allowance)
of Zinc for adult males is 11mg per day and 8mg per day for females. A daily intake of zinc is
recommended because the body does not have a specific way to store it. Besides not having a way to
store Zinc, it can be found in the majority of all tissues in the body. Zinc functions as a cofactor to
more than 300 different enzymes specifically regarding the human metabolism and its functions.

In a study conducted from December 2012 to June 2014, 150 samples of semen were collected to
determine the influence of seminal plasma zinc on seminogram characteristics and whether
endogenous testosterone affects the seminal levels of zinc. The the 150 male subjects tested were
divided up into two groups: A– subjects with normal ejaculates and B– subjects with abnormal
ejaculates. The subjects in the abnormal group were then divided up into 3 sub groups:
Asthenoteratozoospermics, Oligoasthenoteratozoospermics, and Azoospermics. Each of these
groups represents a sample with specific parameters on sperm concentration, sperm motility, and
sperm morphology. When looking at the results of the samples, statistics show that group A had the
highest mean Zinc level of seminal plasma which was then followed by Asthenoteratozoospermics,
Oligoasthenoteratozoospermics, and Azoospermics. Overall the study concluded that the
measurement of Zinc in human seminal plasma plays an important role in the evaluation of male
infertility and it can increase the quality of semen. Information like this can be beneficial to couples

had a serious message questioning the moral stance on donating sperm. The public audience
described in the film was said to have had a negative attitude on excessive sperm donation. There
should not be a cap on how much an individual can donate sperm. The fact that humans were meant
to be monogamous is unclear. As stated in the reading, humans have been monogamous,
polyandrous, promiscuous, and more at some point in our history. According to the reading, Sperm

Seminal Viruses And Its Effect On Sperm Cells
Seminal viruses (i.e., HIV, and possibly Zika) can be present as cell–free RNA, or in the form of
proviral DNA, or be associated with receptor–carrying lymphocytes and macrophages. However,
concrete evidence for an association between sperm cells, and/or the possible internalization of the
Zika virus into de cell does not exist.
Although the net effect on sperm cells is uncertain, yet it is possible that changes in Vivo (or in
Vitro) of extra–cellular concentration of the virus may cause semen alterations (i.e., sperm
concentration, semen volume, decline of motility?) of the infected patient, or directly affect the
viability of his spermatozoa. Internalization of the virus (if any) would seem, therefore, to be due to
both the amount of virus in the 'infected' seminal plasma, or the period of time that sperm cells
remain in contact with seminal plasma during the liquefaction process.
If this mechanism is true, however, and post–ejaculate internalization of the virus does occur over a
period of time, then an effective and rapid isolation or decontamination method of sperm from
seminal plasma, and other semen fractions or cell systems (i.e., debris, epithelial cells, white blood
cells) that serve as target cells for the virus should be studied, as well as complementary research of
cryopreservation of the resulting sperm pellet fraction.
The physiological significance of decontamination and/or cryopreservation of spermatozoa in
human semen that has been compromised by the

Inhorn's Analysis
Inhorn talks of the "emerging areas of dissonance and dissent to the prevailing religious discourse"
(2012a: 165), indicating that men more readily challenge the religious laws that are in place. The
setting that most embodies this observation is the semen collection clinic, where men must provide a
sample of their semen for analysis. Here, men encounter a number of obstacles that are so contrary
to their religious beliefs, but they must confront them to achieve their desire for children. The first is
that of masturbation, which, as discussed in the previous chapter, denotes something considered zina
or illegal sexual activity by many men and many religious leaders. Furthermore, semen itself is seen
as something polluting once it leaves the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, there are disparities between religious leaders in the region such as Ayatollah Khamene'i
who permits sperm donation as an option to cure ones infertility. Morgan Clarke talks about how
Islam seeks to 'keep(ing) up with the times' and this is especially apparent in Lebanon where there is
a high number of azoospermia cases – men who have no viable semen whatsoever (Clarke, 2009;
Inhorn 2012a). As a result, in Lebanon, there is much greater leniency towards sperm donation
amongst religious leaders and medical practitioners because it is the only option left for these men.
The belief however is that a child should be created within a legal marital structure and any outside
or third party interference in the form of another man's semen would disrupt this. 'Lineal
masculinity', outlines the difference between the roles of men and women in reproduction (King and
Stone, 2010). Men need to reproduce to preserve their lineage, and contribute to the lineage of their
family that has accumulated over generations. For men, lineage is collective, and any break in the
passage of lineage from one generation to the next, would result in the abolition of all that came
before. These serious notions underline why this type of NRT is so difficult to comprehend for these
men. A man who categorically ruled out sperm donation as a solution in Inhorn's study stated,

Cultural Bound Syndromes ( Cbs )
The subject of cultural–bound syndromes (CBS) is one of the most interesting of the study of
medical anthropology and psychology. The term is used to refer to particular conditions or symptom
complexes, cognitive, behavioral or affective, which are apparently unique to specific cultures
(Balhara, 2011). These culture–related specific conditions may occur due to a particular set of
environmental conditions combined with distinctive cultural practices within the limited area of
occurrence, for that reason being exotic and somewhat rare. The way they are experienced is heavily
influenced by their culture. They range in deadliness from causing comparatively insignificant and
perhaps harmless medical complications to grave ones and sometimes ... Show more content on

Several of these disorders have however been contested by modern medicine as being fallacious in
their label as culture–bound while others have held their ground as fact.
Examples of these cultural conditions include Kuru, which is a lethal, incurable, degenerative West–
African (predominant in Guinea) disease affecting the central nervous system. It is caused by a prion
found in humans and said to be transmitted via endocannibalism. Another condition is the Windigo
psychosis which referred to a paranoia characterized by cannibalistic psychological predispositions
among Native American tribes such as Cree, Ojibwa and Chippewa due to food scarcity during
winter. Those affected would suffer severe anxiety, sometimes resulting in suicide to avoid turning
into the flesh–eating Windigo monsters. Yet another of the reproductive kind with a psychological
connection is the Oriental (mainly Indian) Dhat (O 'Neil, 2010).
The Dhat Syndrome
This culture–restricted condition has been mainly associated with the Asian continent, the Indian
subcontinent in particular, and is also known as the sexual psychosis of the Orient or the anxiety of
semen–loss. It is quite common, especially among the Indian people and it mainly occurs in young
men from their late teens to their forties. The word dhat is derived from "dhatu", a Sanskrit word,
meaning elixir constituting the body (Mehta, De, & Balachandran, 2009). In clinical psychology, it

Background and History of Prostate Cancer
Introduction/Background/ History In 2013 there were 238,500 new cases of Prostate Cancer
diagnosed in the United Sates, and about 29,700 of the cases will die from it according to
WebMD.com. Prostate Cancer is the most non–skin related cancer in the United States. Prostate
cancer is the formation of cancerous cells in the prostate of the male's reproductive organ. Prostate
cancer is a slow progressing disease, and most men only die once they have reached old age.
Because the prostate is in close proximity to other organs, it also causes dysfunction in urination,
fertility, sexuality, and bowel movements. This cancer is more common in African American men
ages 40 and up.
Symptoms of Prostate Cancer include:
Disruptions in urinary function,
Blood in urine or semen
Stiffness in thighs or in the lower lumbar region of the back.
Direct causes for prostate cancer are still unknown, but characteristics such as age, ethnicity, and
family history can been studied to be serious factors. It is recommended that men should start
getting tested for Prostate Cancer between the ages of 40 and 50. Prostate Cancer comes in two
forms, localized and metastatic. The localized disease comes in stages T1 through T4, and the
metastatic disease comes in stages N1 and M1. If the cancer is caught early enough it can be
effectively treated. Also, if diagnosed early enough and treated, men can be cured or go into
remission for up to five years. Yet, according to Cancer.gov, 20% to 30% of men

instigates disgust, only until you are talking about the benefits it can provide. Yes! Benefits!
Unlike some of you, or many of you, there are other women who swallow or eat sperms. For the
only reason that they know about "sperm benefits". Sperm can make you appear more beautiful. You
may laugh at me, but no, I'm not kidding. Among the many sperm benefits that I am going to talk

7. Fights breast cancer
I know it's getting on your nerves now. Still, you have to believe me. Sperm benefits are limitless,
and one of these is its potential to combat breast cancer. Tens of thousands of people are dying of
breast cancer every year. Why don't they eat sperm and become healthy once again?
No, really. All it will take is a sperm. And who knows their breast cancer will disappear.
Sperm carries anti–cancer properties. Also, many studies back this astonishing fact, while they have
good reasons behind it. So next time, don't run away from making love. It is more beneficial than
you ever thought.
Was a man ever so worthy? Only women could never get it? Huh?
8. Improve your immune system with sperms
Sperm benefits you with improved immune system, since it carries magnesium. Magnesium has the
power to strengthen your muscles, boost your nerve function, and thereby fortify your entire

Anonymous Sperm and Egg Donation Essay
Anonymous Sperm and Egg Donation
Anonymous sperm and egg donation is a serious topic. Some people think they should remain
anonymous and some do not. A few reasons for becoming known donors are legal rights, medical
reasons, and psychological problems. The parents and donor kids should know where the sperm or
egg came from because it might affect their futures. Medical risks are a huge deal that everyone
needs to be aware of, but especially those who are not sure where they came from. Donor children
who do not know who their donor is or are looking for their biological parent, may grow up to have
problems psychologically. Children have the right to know their biological background.

There are worse problems than not knowing whom their donor parent is, though. Lots of donor
children grow up not knowing that they have a greater chance of having a medical problem. To
donate, a person does not have to take any certain tests. They just have to show up and if their sperm
or eggs look fine the hospital staff take it. "Regardless of socioeconomic status, donor offspring are
twice as likely as those raised by biological parents to report problems with the law before age 25.
They are more than twice as likely to report having struggled with substance abuse. And they are
about 1.5 times as likely to report depression or other mental health problems," said Karen Clark, an
investigator. Not only are donor children more likely to get into problems with the law, they are
more likely to get into problems dealing with their health. That is why donor children and their
parents, the ones who raised them, should be allowed to know who the donor parent is.
Children have a right to know who gave them life because of medical reasons. Some people might
argue that genetic medical problems do not give children the right to know the donor parent because
they can just use their DNA or blood sample to know medical problems they might have. However,
what they do not realize is that it can be difficult for donor children to find that information. It is
important for them to also realize that new medical problems could have sprung up since the

In Vitro Gametogenesis Essay
In America, we are groomed from childhood to believe that one day we will grow up and have
children. This is instilled in our youth through children's toys such as baby dolls that teach young
girls to care for a child and by playing 'house'. Sadly, for many this is an unattainable goal. Due to
medical complications or inability to find a suitable mate, many must resort to other means, such as
adoption or artificial insemination to reach this goal. However, even with these alternatives, many
remain unable to become parents. Science may be able to change this through the use of In Vitro
Gametogenesis.
Claim: The United States Federal Government should fund research for In Vitro Gametogenesis
(IVG).
Grounds: The use of In Vitro Gametogenesis will help many families who dream of procreating but
are physically incapable of doing so. IVG would allow a sperm cell or an egg to be created out of
stem cells. This would enable women with fertility issues, cancer survivors with reproductive issues,

Bitzer stated that exigence, which was capable of modification by way of discourse was needed
(Herrick, 2016). As IVG research raises many ethical questions, its use in human analysis has been
delayed. Questions of morality are raised concerning whether same sex couples should be able to
procreate biologically, as well as whether the ability to choose genetic traits for offspring would put
couples who can afford the treatment method at an unfair advantage over individuals who cannot
afford such methods. Additionally, the question rises of whether the embryos that are created but not
used in the procreation should be destroyed, donated, or frozen (Bourne, Douglas, & Savulescu,
2012). As these questions are based on morality and ethics, as opposed to statistics and data, they
can be resolved through rhetorical dialogue and

The male reproductive system – like any other system – must have hormones aiding its several
processes in order for it to function well. In this system, male sex hormones are also known as
androgens with testosterone being the one most commonly known. Testosterone is only produced
two times in a male's life with it being secreted continuously and consistently once puberty begins in
order to enable the reproductive function. This hormone is responsible for the secondary sex
characteristics of males that develop during the course of puberty and providing negative feedback
to the hypothalamus and anterior pituitary. The production of testosterone is roused by the
luteinizing hormone (LH) stimulating Leydig cells. Meanwhile the follicle stimulating hormone
(FSH) is responsible for stimulating Sertoli cells to produce androgen–binding protein (ABP),
thereby stimulating spermatogenesis. (mcb.berkeley.edu) In the course of puberty, males develops
certain sex characteristics that are then divided into either primary or secondary sex characteristics.
The primary sex characteristics include those that are directly involved in reproduction such as the
enlargement of the testes as well the production of spermatozoa. In males, prior to the first
ejaculation is spermarche, or the first production of sperm. This early production of sperm is often
fraught with genetic imperfections and the male may also be infertile for a short time. (Devin

Essay about Discuss the Male Reproductive System
Discuss the Male Reproductive System
The reproductive system is questionably the body system that is the most important influence on life
as we know it. It is the w ay in which we procreate and ensure our existence as a species. However,
the penis is only one part of the male reproductive system, which constitutes of a series responsible
for generating, storing, and transporting the genetic material contained in the sperm cells. The main
organs include: testicles (or testes), the epididymides, the vas deferens, the ejaculatory duct, the
urethra, and the penis. Others are the scrotum, urogenital opening, and the prostate gland.

Testes are kept in the scrotum sac and are two oval shaped glands, about 8,5cm long and 2.5cm
wide. A midline septum divides the scrotum into two halves and each testical is covered in two
tunics; the Tunica vaginalis from the peritoneum and the Tunica albuginea which is a deeper tunic
and a fibrous capsule. The septa from this layer then divides the testes into 250 – 300 wedge shaped
compartments or lobules. It is in these lobules that seminiferous tubules are found, where sperm is
made. Each lobule contains about 1 – 4 seminiferous tubules. The network into which seminiferous
tubules empty is called the Rete testis. After which, the epididymis receives sperm from the rete
testis network.
The scrotum is a loose sac of skin and superficial fascia outside the abdominopelvic cavity, fascia,
and smooth muscle that encloses and supports the testes outside the body at an optimum temperature
for the production of sperm, about 3 degrees below body temperature. When the temperature is too
low, the spermatic cord (This cord is surrounded by skeletal muscle and suspends the testes) tightens
thus pulling the testes closer to the body. When the temperature is too hot, the cord relaxes resulting
in the testes moving further away from the body. The muscles responsible for this are Cremaster
muscles, which extend from the internal obliques and elevate the testes. Most men might have
noticed that when this happens, the scrotum skin wrinkles. This is due to the smooth muscle in the

that sound altogether so clinical and cold. Alternative turns of phrase are out there for the weak at
heart: there's an episode of 'That '70s Show" where the credits roll over Donna in a bathtub

Forensic Use of Acid Phosphatase Tests
People who watched crime–based television shows understand that DNA evidence is not always
noticeable at first glance. In fact, in some cases, it can be impossible to detect visually. Take semen,
for example. In large amounts, seminal fluid is easy to detect. It leaves a noticeable crusty stain on
most fabric. However, if that fabric is washed then the stain is gone. Presumably, the evidence is
washed away. This is not the case necessarily. There are several methods forensic scientists use to
find traces of semen to identify a male's identity. The Acid Phosphatase Color Test is widely
regarded as the most effective way to both locate and characterize a seminal stain.
Acid Phosphatase is an enzyme found in seminal fluid. It comes from the prostate gland (Johnson
2009). Typically, the more Prostatic Acid Phosphatase found in a sample of semen is a sign of
prostate cancer. This is important because the Acid Phosphatase Color Test was once used to
determine of a male had prostate cancer. It was later replaced by Prostate Specific Antigen, aka
PSA. Forensic scientists still use this test to identify semen, however. In 1938, Gutman and Gutman
reported increased levels of acid phosphatase in patients with metastatic prostate cancer (Taira,
Merrick, Wallner, and Dattoli, "Reviving the Acid Phosphatase Test for Prostate Cancer"). It was
later replaced by the Prostate Specific Antigen in 1971 (Taira, Merrick, Wallner, and Dattoli,

HIV broken down stands for Human Immunodeficiency Virus. The H stands for human, which
means that this virus can only affect humans, the I stands for immunodeficiency and this means that
HIV weakens the immune system, the V stands for virus which means that it can only reproduce
itself by taking over cells within the body of an individual. HIV is similar to other viruses (like the
flu) the only difference is that the body can fight the flu off but it cannot fight HIV off. "HIV can
hide for long periods of time in the cells of your body and that it attacks a key part of your immune
system – your T–cells or CD4 cells. Your body has to have these cells to fight infections and
disease, but HIV invades them, uses them to make more copies of itself, and then destroys them."
(What is HIV/AIDS?) Once HIV enters the body it will never leave it, the only thing that an
individual can do is neutralize it by keeping it from taking over all of the cells through medication.

AIDS; if they treat early on they can prevent it from turning into AIDS. HIV can be transmitted

Analysis Of Both Flesh And Not By David Foster Wallace
"Both Flesh And Not," written by David Foster Wallace is an essay written as a childhood fairytale
in a metaphorical way to introduce and illustrate Wallace's ideas. A gallant knight risks his life
fighting the dragon, who is protecting the castle, to get what he wants, which is the "fair maiden"
also known as a "good–looking virgin". Is that what the essay is really about? No, Wallace
specifically uses this to comment on and represent the AIDS crisis, the way he observed it. The
gallant knight, referring to men, desires sex and is willing to risk their life and take the chance of
contracting AIDS. Although, Wallace does specify men towards the beginning of the essay, towards
the end, he broadens his idea from just men, to include everyone with sexual desire and sexuality as
part of human nature. Wallace's intentions in the piece is used by engaging the audience to bring
awareness to society about the sexual choices people made and its consequences, the views of AIDS
in a positive perspective, and to show that sex is natural in human life.
Primarily, Wallace brings awareness to society about the sexual choices people made and their
consequences. In some cases, those consequences included HIV and AIDS. The thought of a person
contracting HIV or AIDS, appeals to a person's emotions and value, due to the fact it affects a
person long term, is also an example of pathos. Wallace utterance, "....regard HIV as a sort of test of

Masturbation : Breaking The Silence Essay
Scholarly Article Summary The scholarly article is authored by James D. Shelton, and was featured
in the International Perspectives on Sexual Health Journal published in 2010 by Guttmacher
Institute. The hypothesis of the article is acutely embodied in its title, Masturbation: Breaking the
Silence. In this regard, the author draws significant attention to the fact that while masturbation as a
practice is common, its articulation in the global health community is shunned and considered a
social taboo (Shelton, 2010).
An example provided in the fourth paragraph of the article encompasses how a diverse institution
such as the United Nations Program on HIV/AIDS sponsors the silence regarding the subject of
masturbation. According to Shelton (2010), the institution fails to mention masturbation as a worthy
cause of HIV/AIDS prevention in its extensive Practical Guidelines for Intensifying HIV
Prevention. As Shelton (2010) continues to assert, the meaning and depiction of masturbation is only
suggested in the phrase "abstinence from penetrative sexual intercourse." Therefore, the author
concludes that for HIV prevention to realize meaningful impact there is a need to break the silence
on the subject of masturbation in the social realm.
In the article, the study into how silence regarding masturbation encourages the spread of
HIV/AIDS was conducted using quantitative research methods. In this regard, article represents the

Persuasive Essay About Egg Donation
How would you like to wake up next to your boyfriend/husband someday and find out he is your

become common place. I believe it should be a mandatory requirement for anyone involved with
sperm or egg donation to register with the Donor Sibling Registry and no one involved should be
allowed to remain anonymous. There should also be a limit to the amount of donations made. No

Essay On Boron On Semen Quality

  • 1. Essay On Boron On Semen Quality to boron on semen quality was conducted on boars. Supplemental dietary boron enhanced sperm velocity characteristics and possibly normal morphology without influencing other measures of sperm production and semen quality (Korkmaz et al., 2011). The boron group's abstinence time was found to be longer than that of the control group (Naghii and Saman, 1997a). Korkmaz et al., (2011) diagnosed oligozoospermia for one of the first two semen samples while the other had a diagnosis of asthenozoospermia; both cases were accompanied by varicocele. These findings indicate that for both the boron and control groups, exposure to boron does not play any significant role in the cases of incompatibility with the normal semen profile. With respect to all the extenders spermatozoa motility values being higher than the control group, it can be concluded that this could have positive effects on fertility (Tirpan and Tekin, 2015). Sodium pentaborate may have provided intracellular energy requirements especially in freezing and thawing processes. The high motility ratios without the usage of glucose, which plays an important role in the foreseen energy mechanisms, give rise to the thought that boron may be used as an energy source for post–thaw process. Boron added to the extender had no negative effect on the post–thaw motility values and increases progressive motility. It can be concluded that different amounts of sodium pentaborate added to the extenders have a positive effect on semen's fertility ability. In the researchers conducted on humans (Turkez et al., 2007) and rats (Ince et al., 2010) it was notified that boron element reduces lipid peroxidation and thus has an antioxidative effect. Similar to these studies, when the data from the moderate boron extenders are considered it can be detected that the lowest dead spermatozoa ratio (Tirpan and Tekin, 2015). The article I chose to review is "Pornography consumption and sexual behaviors as correlates of erotic dreams and nocturnal emissions." The author of this interesting article is Calvin Kai – Ching Yu of Hong Kong Shue Yan University, North Point, Hong Kong. The document type is a journal article and it was published by Educational Publishing Foundation in October of 2012. The type of study that was done for this article was empirical study and quantitative study. "The study presented here was geared toward exploring the degree to which the frequencies of sex and wet dreams are modulated by sexual behaviors during wakefulness, including viewing pornography." The study examined the degree to which erotic or wet dreams are modulated y sexual behaviors and the use of pornography in your waking life. Since it had been noted that erotic dreams are much more prevalent in men than in woman and it was going to be much harder to factor in both genders data into the analysis of sex dreams, he only used male participants for this study. The real purpose of this article and study was to see I pornography, sexual fantasy, erotic dreams, and masturbation had any significant effect on sexual behaviors awake or sleep. To do so Yu had to put together some kind of method to test a group of men on, in order to find out the answer to his question at hand. • 13. Conservation of Endangered Marsupials Essay Conservation of Endangered Marsupials Marsupials are creatures that are a very unique group of mammals. Many creatures are becoming threatened, and some have already become extinct. Threatened marsupials could be a pool of agricultural, medicinal, or genetic wealth that we do not yet have the technology to utilize. There are many methods to conserving these genetic pools; one of which is through reproduction manipulation. Artificial insemination, embryo transfer, and nuclear transfer are ways in which marsupials can be conserved if proper adjustments are made. Special considerations for artificial insemination of marsupials include equipment for collection and distribution, freezing, cryoprotectant and storage, and seasonality ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Temple–Smith (2003), over 40 marsupial species in Australia need immediate attention of conservational science. Many methods to conserving these genetic pools are already being utilized; one of which is reproductively. Artificial insemination, embryo transfer, and nuclear transfer are ways in which marsupials can be conserved if proper adjustments are made. With proper knowledge and experience of reproductive systems and methods, such conservation can take place. Basic Methods The basic methods that are practically used in commercial agriculture facilities have to be efficient. Conservation of threatened species techniques has to take the same cues as the commercial facilities. The tried and true method of artificial insemination is getting more and more advanced to include smaller and more exotic species. Embryo Transfer is a technology that is a little newer but has good success rates. And finally nuclear transfer, sometimes called cloning, methods may soon become an option for saving severely endangered and maybe even extinct animals. Artificial insemination has come a long way. Originally, a fresh sample of semen was placed surgically directly into the uterus of the female. Obviously, there were a few drawbacks to this method. Firstly, having a fresh supply of semen meant there had to be a male in close proximity to collect semen. Next the change of temperature was too ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 17. Artificial Insemination and the Rights of Women, Men, and... Women have adamantly battled for political and social reproductive rights since, in particular artificial insemination, have become mainstream phenomena in the recent decade with a focus on rights of women. In fact, doctors have experimented with the procedure for nearly a century. However, with the women¹s liberation movement of the 1970s, physician–assisted and self– insemination has become more and more popular among heterosexual career women and lesbians. The Origins of Artificial Insemination She was a Quaker. The wife of a merchant. The infertility patient of Dr. William Pancoast. She was a woman whose name was never recorded. Dr. Pancoast, a professor at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, had already examined and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Women, usually healthy and fertile, enlist the help of physicians because they do not have access to the one element that will yield them a child. And so, doctors prescribe a cure of sorts– sperm. The procedure allows women increased power to regulate the reproductive processes of their bodies. Ironically, artificial insemination was not created as a method of empowerment for women. Rather for men. Male scientists and researchers developed the technology for eugenic purposes, not to alleviate the pressures of alternative lifestyles of women. That is, to improve the human species. With the onset of research in genetics in the beginning of the twentieth century, scientists entertained theories of quality control with respect to human reproduction. Scientists such as Francis Crick and Dr. William Shockley believed that the growth rate of the population was increasing too rapidly, and most importantly certain unfavorable demographic clusters were increasing. In short, the wrong classes and races were reproducing with more frequency than was desired by these men. They hoped that future progeny would be of the same superior caliber as themselves. To yield this, they proposed schemes to tax children; to provide cash incentives for sterilization; to license women for the number of children they may bear and men for the sperm they may deposit in seed banks; ... • 25. Pros And Cons Of Artificial Inemination In The Animal... Artificial insemination (AI) is the manual placement of semen in the reproductive tract of the female by a method other than natural mating. AI has been used in the majority of domestic species, including bees, and also in human beings. It is the most commonly used ART in livestock, revolutionizing the animal breeding industry during the 20th century. AI is by far the most common method of breeding intensively kept domestic livestock, such as dairy, and turkeys. It is increasing in horses, beef cattle and sheep, and has been reported in other domestic species such as dogs, goats, deer and buffalo. There are several advantages and disadvantages of the use of artificial insemination. Some advantages would be that AI helps prevent the spread of infectious or contagious diseases, that can be passed on when animals are in close contact or share the same environment. The rate of genetic development and production gain can be increased, by using semen from males of high genetic merit for superior females. It enables breeding between animals in different geographic locations, or at different times (even after the male´s death). Breeding can occur in the event of physical, physiological or behavioral abnormalities. AI is a powerful tool when linked to other reproductive biotechnologies such as sperm cryopreservation, sperm sexing. AI can be used in conservation of rare breeds or endangered species. Also, the cost of maintenance of breeding bull is saved. So disadvantages would be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are two ductus deferens and they are identical in their structure and function. The primary function of the ductus deferens is to store and transport sperm to the ejaculatory duct, connecting the epididymis, merging into the urethra pushing it forward and allowing the sperm to exit the body. The ductus deferens are designed for this function, characterised by thick muscular walls, which perform peristalsis. The inside wall consists of a moist folded layer of mucous membrane, which is further surrounded by three layers of circular and longitudinal muscle fibres. At the end of the ductus deferens are the ampulla, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The skin of the scrotum becomes wrinkled due to the underlying dartos muscle. The testes must be kept at temperature that is lower than 3oC, so that spermatogenesis can occur. The scrotum uses a muscle (the cremaster muscle) to achieve this. When the cremaster muscle shrinks, the testes move closer to the scrotum, and this increases the temperature of them. They can also be cooled down by dilating and moving away from the testes, dropping them in temperature. The testes receive their blood flow from the anterior and posterior scrotal artery. The venous blood flows through the testicular veins and then into the vena cava. Another function of the testes is to protect the testes from injury, hence why one testis hangs lower than the other, to avoid compression in the event of impact. Testes (Male gonads) The testes are two ovular organs found in the male reproductive system. They are held in place by a spermatic cord, which is a collection of vessels, nerves and ducts that run from more than one part of the testes. The testes function to create the hormone testosterone; a primary male sex hormone which generates the production of sperm. The seminiferous tubules which are located in the testes are responsible for the production of sperm cells, and the sperm made in this process line the tubules until they reach maturity and are released into the lumen of the seminiferous tubule. Analysis Of Eileen Chang 's Red Rose, White Rose "When a man is longing to have sex with a woman, he becomes interested in her soul, and deceives himself that he is in love with that soul; only after possessing her body, he can forget about her soul. Perhaps this is the only way to liberate himself." This is a famous quote from the novel "Red Rose, White Rose" written by Eileen Chang, one of the most influential contemporary Chinese female writers. There is no doubt that some modern critics and feminists may point out that this idea of gender role is opposed to gender equality and balance of a relationship. However, men and women throughout generations do possess distinctive "functions" congenitally and, eventually, lead to different mentality and physiological reactions when they fall ... Although a bit exaggerated, relation between the emperor and concubines symbolize the dynamics between male and female. In the sharp contrast to active sperms, female only produces one ovum cell per month, which mainly functions as a "protector" and a "nurturer". It creates a safe and warm environment, producing nutrimental supplies that nourish the embryo. In addition, egg is so loyal that, with the help of cortical granules filled with enzyme , it forms a cell membrane that keeps other sperms from entering. Imagine that millions of agile sperms competed with others and anxiously approach to one target –– egg –– no wonder only the most courageous and intelligent one wins the battle. Battle among sperms, to some extent, epitomizes male mindset of fighting off other men. Therefore, they are naturally more active; their organs for locomotion and control are inherently more flexible in order to maximize the possibility to defeat other males. Male's biological advantages empower him to be fully aware of his individuality and existence as an entirety. He gradually explores and discovers more and more methods to master his forces. His physical development is relatively simple and regular. "At around fifteen or sixteen years old, spermatogenesis begins and continues until old age; hormone production occurs at the same ... Found in different foods like meats, nuts, dairy products and certain vegetables; Zinc is an essential nutrient that the body needs on a regular basis. The RDA (Recommended Daily Allowance) of Zinc for adult males is 11mg per day and 8mg per day for females. A daily intake of zinc is recommended because the body does not have a specific way to store it. Besides not having a way to store Zinc, it can be found in the majority of all tissues in the body. Zinc functions as a cofactor to more than 300 different enzymes specifically regarding the human metabolism and its functions. Some of the specific functions that zinc is apart of in the ... In a study conducted from December 2012 to June 2014, 150 samples of semen were collected to determine the influence of seminal plasma zinc on seminogram characteristics and whether endogenous testosterone affects the seminal levels of zinc. The the 150 male subjects tested were divided up into two groups: A– subjects with normal ejaculates and B– subjects with abnormal ejaculates. The subjects in the abnormal group were then divided up into 3 sub groups: Asthenoteratozoospermics, Oligoasthenoteratozoospermics, and Azoospermics. Each of these groups represents a sample with specific parameters on sperm concentration, sperm motility, and sperm morphology. When looking at the results of the samples, statistics show that group A had the highest mean Zinc level of seminal plasma which was then followed by Asthenoteratozoospermics, Oligoasthenoteratozoospermics, and Azoospermics. Overall the study concluded that the measurement of Zinc in human seminal plasma plays an important role in the evaluation of male infertility and it can increase the quality of semen. This dramatic and comedic film had a serious message questioning the moral stance on donating sperm. The public audience described in the film was said to have had a negative attitude on excessive sperm donation. There should not be a cap on how much an individual can donate sperm. The fact that humans were meant to be monogamous is unclear. As stated in the reading, humans have been monogamous, polyandrous, promiscuous, and more at some point in our history. Cullimore Vs Johnson Case Amie Cullimore, a medical practitioner, filed a child support claim against Michael Ranson, who more than two decades ago donated his sperm to Amie Cullimore, who subsequently conceived two children. Seminal Viruses And Its Effect On Sperm Cells Seminal viruses (i.e., HIV, and possibly Zika) can be present as cell–free RNA, or in the form of proviral DNA, or be associated with receptor–carrying lymphocytes and macrophages. However, concrete evidence for an association between sperm cells, and/or the possible internalization of the Zika virus into de cell does not exist. Although the net effect on sperm cells is uncertain, yet it is possible that changes in Vivo (or in Vitro) of extra–cellular concentration of the virus may cause semen alterations (i.e., sperm concentration, semen volume, decline of motility?) of the infected patient, or directly affect the viability of his spermatozoa. Internalization of the virus (if any) would seem, therefore, to be due to both the amount of virus in the 'infected' seminal plasma, or the period of time that sperm cells remain in contact with seminal plasma during the liquefaction process. If this mechanism is true, however, and post–ejaculate internalization of the virus does occur over a period of time, then an effective and rapid isolation or decontamination method of sperm from seminal plasma, and other semen fractions or cell systems (i.e., debris, epithelial cells, white blood cells) that serve as target cells for the virus should be studied, as well as complementary research of cryopreservation of the resulting sperm pellet fraction. Inhorn's Analysis Inhorn talks of the "emerging areas of dissonance and dissent to the prevailing religious discourse" (2012a: 165), indicating that men more readily challenge the religious laws that are in place. The setting that most embodies this observation is the semen collection clinic, where men must provide a sample of their semen for analysis. Here, men encounter a number of obstacles that are so contrary to their religious beliefs, but they must confront them to achieve their desire for children. The first is that of masturbation, which, as discussed in the previous chapter, denotes something considered zina or illegal sexual activity by many men and many religious leaders. Furthermore, semen itself is seen as something polluting once it leaves the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, there are disparities between religious leaders in the region such as Ayatollah Khamene'i who permits sperm donation as an option to cure ones infertility. Morgan Clarke talks about how Islam seeks to 'keep(ing) up with the times' and this is especially apparent in Lebanon where there is a high number of azoospermia cases – men who have no viable semen whatsoever (Clarke, 2009; Inhorn 2012a). As a result, in Lebanon, there is much greater leniency towards sperm donation amongst religious leaders and medical practitioners because it is the only option left for these men. The belief however is that a child should be created within a legal marital structure and any outside or third party interference in the form of another man's semen would disrupt this. 'Lineal masculinity', outlines the difference between the roles of men and women in reproduction (King and Stone, 2010). Men need to reproduce to preserve their lineage, and contribute to the lineage of their family that has accumulated over generations. For men, lineage is collective, and any break in the passage of lineage from one generation to the next, would result in the abolition of all that came before. These serious notions underline why this type of NRT is so difficult to comprehend for these men. A man who categorically ruled out sperm donation as a solution in Inhorn's study stated, ... The term is used to refer to particular conditions or symptom complexes, cognitive, behavioral or affective, which are apparently unique to specific cultures (Balhara, 2011). These culture–related specific conditions may occur due to a particular set of environmental conditions combined with distinctive cultural practices within the limited area of occurrence, for that reason being exotic and somewhat rare. The way they are experienced is heavily influenced by their culture. They range in deadliness from causing comparatively insignificant and perhaps harmless medical complications to grave ones and sometimes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Several of these disorders have however been contested by modern medicine as being fallacious in their label as culture–bound while others have held their ground as fact. Examples of these cultural conditions include Kuru, which is a lethal, incurable, degenerative West– African (predominant in Guinea) disease affecting the central nervous system. It is caused by a prion found in humans and said to be transmitted via endocannibalism. Another condition is the Windigo psychosis which referred to a paranoia characterized by cannibalistic psychological predispositions among Native American tribes such as Cree, Ojibwa and Chippewa due to food scarcity during winter. Those affected would suffer severe anxiety, sometimes resulting in suicide to avoid turning into the flesh–eating Windigo monsters. Yet another of the reproductive kind with a psychological connection is the Oriental (mainly Indian) Dhat (O 'Neil, 2010). The Dhat Syndrome This culture–restricted condition has been mainly associated with the Asian continent, the Indian subcontinent in particular, and is also known as the sexual psychosis of the Orient or the anxiety of semen–loss. It is quite common, especially among the Indian people and it mainly occurs in young men from their late teens to their forties. Background and History of Prostate Cancer Introduction/Background/ History In 2013 there were 238,500 new cases of Prostate Cancer diagnosed in the United Sates, and about 29,700 of the cases will die from it according to WebMD.com. Prostate Cancer is the most non–skin related cancer in the United States. Prostate cancer is the formation of cancerous cells in the prostate of the male's reproductive organ. Prostate cancer is a slow progressing disease, and most men only die once they have reached old age. Because the prostate is in close proximity to other organs, it also causes dysfunction in urination, fertility, sexuality, and bowel movements. This cancer is more common in African American men ages 40 and up. Symptoms of Prostate Cancer include: Disruptions in urinary function, Blood in urine or semen Stiffness in thighs or in the lower lumbar region of the back. Direct causes for prostate cancer are still unknown, but characteristics such as age, ethnicity, and family history can been studied to be serious factors. It is recommended that men should start getting tested for Prostate Cancer between the ages of 40 and 50. Prostate Cancer comes in two forms, localized and metastatic. The localized disease comes in stages T1 through T4, and the metastatic disease comes in stages N1 and M1. If the cancer is caught early enough it can be effectively treated. Also, if diagnosed early enough and treated, men can be cured or go into remission for up to five years. Yet, according to Cancer.gov, 20% to 30% of men ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are worse problems than not knowing whom their donor parent is, though. Lots of donor children grow up not knowing that they have a greater chance of having a medical problem. To donate, a person does not have to take any certain tests. They just have to show up and if their sperm or eggs look fine the hospital staff take it. "Regardless of socioeconomic status, donor offspring are twice as likely as those raised by biological parents to report problems with the law before age 25. They are more than twice as likely to report having struggled with substance abuse. And they are about 1.5 times as likely to report depression or other mental health problems," said Karen Clark, an investigator. Not only are donor children more likely to get into problems with the law, they are more likely to get into problems dealing with their health. That is why donor children and their parents, the ones who raised them, should be allowed to know who the donor parent is. Children have a right to know who gave them life because of medical reasons. Some people might argue that genetic medical problems do not give children the right to know the donor parent because they can just use their DNA or blood sample to know medical problems they might have. This is instilled in our youth through children's toys such as baby dolls that teach young girls to care for a child and by playing 'house'. Sadly, for many this is an unattainable goal. Due to medical complications or inability to find a suitable mate, many must resort to other means, such as adoption or artificial insemination to reach this goal. However, even with these alternatives, many remain unable to become parents. Science may be able to change this through the use of In Vitro Gametogenesis. Claim: The United States Federal Government should fund research for In Vitro Gametogenesis (IVG). Grounds: The use of In Vitro Gametogenesis will help many families who dream of procreating but are physically incapable of doing so. The male reproductive system – like any other system – must have hormones aiding its several processes in order for it to function well. In this system, male sex hormones are also known as androgens with testosterone being the one most commonly known. Testosterone is only produced two times in a male's life with it being secreted continuously and consistently once puberty begins in order to enable the reproductive function. This hormone is responsible for the secondary sex characteristics of males that develop during the course of puberty and providing negative feedback to the hypothalamus and anterior pituitary. The production of testosterone is roused by the luteinizing hormone (LH) stimulating Leydig cells. Meanwhile the follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) is responsible for stimulating Sertoli cells to produce androgen–binding protein (ABP), thereby stimulating spermatogenesis. (mcb.berkeley.edu) In the course of puberty, males develops certain sex characteristics that are then divided into either primary or secondary sex characteristics. The primary sex characteristics include those that are directly involved in reproduction such as the enlargement of the testes as well the production of spermatozoa. In males, prior to the first ejaculation is spermarche, or the first production of sperm. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Testes are kept in the scrotum sac and are two oval shaped glands, about 8,5cm long and 2.5cm wide. A midline septum divides the scrotum into two halves and each testical is covered in two tunics; the Tunica vaginalis from the peritoneum and the Tunica albuginea which is a deeper tunic and a fibrous capsule. The septa from this layer then divides the testes into 250 – 300 wedge shaped compartments or lobules. It is in these lobules that seminiferous tubules are found, where sperm is made. Each lobule contains about 1 – 4 seminiferous tubules. The network into which seminiferous tubules empty is called the Rete testis. After which, the epididymis receives sperm from the rete testis network. The scrotum is a loose sac of skin and superficial fascia outside the abdominopelvic cavity, fascia, and smooth muscle that encloses and supports the testes outside the body at an optimum temperature for the production of sperm, about 3 degrees below body temperature. When the temperature is too low, the spermatic cord (This cord is surrounded by skeletal muscle and suspends the testes) tightens thus pulling the testes closer to the body. When the temperature is too hot, the cord relaxes resulting in the testes moving further away from the body. The muscles responsible for this are Cremaster muscles, which extend from the internal obliques and elevate the testes. Most men might have noticed that when this happens, the scrotum skin wrinkles. In fact, in some cases, it can be impossible to detect visually. Take semen, for example. In large amounts, seminal fluid is easy to detect. It leaves a noticeable crusty stain on most fabric. However, if that fabric is washed then the stain is gone. Presumably, the evidence is washed away. This is not the case necessarily. There are several methods forensic scientists use to find traces of semen to identify a male's identity. The Acid Phosphatase Color Test is widely regarded as the most effective way to both locate and characterize a seminal stain. Acid Phosphatase is an enzyme found in seminal fluid. I believe it should be a mandatory requirement for anyone involved with sperm or egg donation to register with the Donor Sibling Registry and no one involved should be allowed to remain anonymous. There should also be a limit to the amount of donations made. No one person should be able to populate the world. According to the current statistics ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For some people it becomes all consuming, take Kathleen LaBounty for instance, she was told not much more than her donor went to Baylor College of Medicine in 1981. "In her guest room, LaBounty pulls down a big white box full of research. She photocopied six years ' worth of Baylor College of Medicine yearbooks, tracked down all 600 men and sent them letters. LaBounty included photos of herself and said she 'd found a place to do non–legally binding DNA tests. She was astounded when 250 men replied. Some clearly freaked out, asking her not to contact them again. But to her surprise, most were incredibly supportive. One said he 'd waited 26 years to get a letter like that and felt sure he was the guy. But a flurry of correspondence, then DNA tests, found no match. It was an emotional roller coaster.
