2. Words Often Misspelled
William Strunk Jr's Elements of Style is a good reference for students who are writing essays.
The element that would help the most in my writing is Words Often Misspelled. I have always
had a spelling problem and so depend largely on Google and a dictionary to help with my writing.
In an exam setting, where students are not allowed to use dictionaries, I spend a lot of time
avoiding words that I am not sure of the spelling. This also hinders me in widening my vocabulary.
I will study commonly misspelled words' spelling and meaning so that I can confidently use words
like sacrilegious, ecstasy, and privilege in my writing. By studying commonly misspelled words I
will become more familiar with them thereby using them more often. It is after

4. Grammar Checkers
Don't rely entirely on spelling and grammar checkers. These can be useful tools but they are far
from foolproof. Spell checkers have a limited dictionary, so some words that show up as
misspelled may really just not be in their memory. In addition, spell checkers will not catch
misspellings that form another valid word. For example, if you type "your" instead of "you're,"
"to" instead of "too," or "there" instead of "their," the spell checker won't catch the error.
Grammar checkers can be even more problematic. These programs work with a limited number of
rules, so they can't identify every error and often make mistakes. They also fail to give thorough
explanations to help you understand why a sentence should be revised. You may want to use a
grammar checker to help you identify potential run–on sentences or too frequent use of the passive
voice, but you need to be able to evaluate the feedback it provides.

You're not just looking for errors that you recognize; you're also learning to recognize and correct
new errors. This is where handbooks and dictionaries come in. Keep the ones you find helpful close
at hand as you proofread.
Ignorance may be bliss, but it won't make you a better proofreader. You'll often find things that
don't seem quite right to you, but you may not be quite sure what's wrong either. A word looks like
it might be misspelled, but the spell checker didn't catch it. You think you need a comma between
two words, but you're not sure why. Should you use "that" instead of "which"? If you're not sure
about something, look it up?
The proofreading process becomes more efficient as you develop and practice a systematic strategy.
You'll learn to identify the specific areas of your ownwriting that need careful attention, and
knowing that you have a sound method for finding errors will help you to focus more on developing
your ideas while you are drafting the

5. Grammar Quiz Analysis
The grammar quiz on numbers was the most confusing for me so far. While I was working on
this quiz I had to refer back our book, The Gregg Reference Manuel several times to help myself
correctly finish the worksheet. After Finding out that I need a lot more work in numbers, I'm going
to repeat this work sheet at least one more time before moving on to the next week. Hoping that this
will help me feel a little more at ease with this section. I still struggle with all grammar but each time
while writing I'm becoming more a wear of my mistakes.

6. Essay On Grammar Teaching
It goes without saying that grammar teaching plays an essential role in teaching English as a Foreign
Language (EFL). This opinion is based on the assumption that without a detailed knowledge of
grammar, the language use will stall. Despite its importance, grammar teaching has gone through
some debates for the decades. Before the 1970s, it was a common belief that grammar was a crucial
part of the language teaching since no one will be able to reach the point where he/she communicate
well without comprehending the grammatical rules of any language. This belief was then questioned
by the conception that "knowledge of the grammatical system of the language was one of the main
components which underlie the notion of communicative competence."...show more content...
The general consensus is that grammar should unmistakably take part in language teaching. The
questions are: How should we teach grammar? Should we teach it deductively or inductively? Which
grammar rule should we teach? In other words, the question is whether grammar should be taught by
giving a formal presentation or giving natural expression. (Nassaji & Fortos, 2011). The continuous
debate on the favourableness and the type of grammar teaching or instruction has led a lot of
different methods and techniques of forming a grammar instruction to become known. Most notably,
two completely different and opposing approaches are inductive and deductive. Although these
methods are both beneficial for the learners, the inductive teaching is more acceptable or right for
the students than the deductive teaching somehow. Deductive teaching also called deduction, from
the verb ''deduce'' is a well–known technique which proceeds from generalizations or rules about the
language

7. Importance of Grammar Essay
A.Introduction
It is not uncommon to say that grammar instruction plays an important role in language teaching.
Regarding the status and importance of grammar teaching, a variety of opinions have been made.
Batstone (1994) states that "language without grammar would be chaotic: countless words without
the indispensable guidelines for how they can be ordered and modified" (p. 4). More vividly, Wang
(2010) makes two similes. She compares grammar to the frame of a house, which is a decisive factor
to ensure the solidness of it. Additionally, she regards grammar as a walking stick, whose function is
to help and support students to learn English. Thus, the nature of grammar instruction manifests its
own significance as it helps students...show more content...
In the third part, three pedagogical implications will be presented. In addition, a grammar activity
and its theoretical rationale will be respectively reported in the fourth and fifth part before the final
conclusion is displayed.
B.Evaluation of Miss Wong's Teaching Approach
B(1). Teaching philosophy
It is teachers' beliefs rather than their knowledge that have a greater influence on their instruction
(William & Burden, 2000). Meighan suggests seven kinks of teachers' beliefs about learners:
resisters, receptacles, raw materials, clients, partners, individual explorers and democratic explorers.
Unlike the first three concepts which focus on teachers, the last four require learners' active
involvement (as cited in William & Burden, 2000). In Miss Wong's teaching approach, a PPP model
(i.e., Presentation, Practice and Production) is generally adopted. She firstly presents target
grammatical structure of passive voice. Then students do some exercises along with teacher's answer
checking. However, it seems the final production step is omitted, resulting in students' lacking
opportunities to apply the knowledge into other contexts. From her instruction, we can see Miss
Wong tends to regard her students as receptacles that are required to absorb the items she transmits.
What the instruction concerns is whether students can transform sentences from active to passive or
vice verse from a structural level, which is a typical example of a

8. Essay On English Grammar
English grammar is an extensive and complicated set of rules that govern how we speak and write
using the English language. Grammar has evolved over many centuries, and the rules change from
time to time. Teaching grammar plays a central role in every ESL / EFL teacher's classroom. The
topics cover a range from letters and sounds, parts of speech, vocabulary and stories to dialogue and
conversation, listening comprehension, reading comprehension and written composition. English
language and its usage have become extremely emotive issues in recent years... 'An Introduction to
English Grammar' is an invaluable guide to the study of English language in an accessible format.
Generally the authors begin with an introduction chapter on the nature of grammar and on the
varieties of English and move on to provide an outline description of English grammar. It is to be
understood that "Recognizing the goal of the grammar course is to improve students' grasp of
English grammar, and not to make students into linguists. Many authors have written streamlined,
concise textbooks they avoid getting caught up in details that are interesting to linguists...show more

In my remarks I hope to dispel some of the misunderstandings that promote its continuing existence.
But, before viewing the role that grammar has played in the history of second language teaching,
let's first explore the nature of grammar. Linguists define grammar as a set of components: phonetics
,the production and perception of sounds, phonology ,how sounds are combined, morphology ,the
study of forms, or how elements are combined to create words, syntax ,how words are strung
together into sentences, and semantics or meaning. Because all languages are characterized by these
components, by definition, language does not exist without

9. My Essay: The Writing Process
The Writing Process My writing process is very simple yet slightly confusing for those who need
to be organized when writing. The process begins in the classroom when the teacher assigns a essay
and gives me a prompt. Then it begins to break down into the basic steps that the "typical person"
takes when writing. First, I examine the prompt and dissect it like a frog, taking out all the important
and needed information. I check to see the topic of the essay, all the requirements such as the length
of the essay and the type of paper it needs to be. Once that is done I find the intended audience.
Each of these steps are essential to the type of evidence and quotes that will be used . It also helps
me begin to start thinking about how I want to begin my essay and structure it....show more content...
Procrastination is the action of delaying or postponing something. This action has been my best
friend and my worse enemy on several occasions when writing papers. It has taught me that I can
write a paper that should take 2 weeks in 2 hours and that I can take 2 weeks to write a paper that
should be done in 2 hours. Once the procrastination process is over I either look up articles
relevant to the topic of the paper or I gather my articles from class. I go through the articles and I
underline/highlight any important information. I begin somewhat of a brainstorm process. This
process includes me taking out a sheet of paper separating it into sections. The sections are either
beginning, middle, and end or paragraph one, paragraph two ,paragraph three etc. I back track and
I begin to eliminate the evidence. I keep three to four pieces of the evidence that will be able to
be expanded on the most. Based on that I decide what each paragraph or section will be about. On
the piece of paper I write the topic under each section based on where it needs to
