This presentation discusses enterprise resource planning (ERP). ERP is a business management software that integrates various applications used by a company to manage business processes like manufacturing, shipping, and marketing/sales. Organizations implement ERP systems to facilitate information flow between departments and external stakeholders, integrate different systems to enable error-free transactions and production, and allow flexibility through operating on various hardware/network configurations using a centralized database. The presentation provides the example of Alfa Pneumatics, a sales/marketing company that implemented ERP to solve issues of inaccurate and inconsistent data across departments that previously made management decision-making very difficult.

Alfa Pneumatics is a sales/marketing co. for pneumatic tools
for pumps and Marine industry.
Before going for ERP, manual data entry in each department
caused major worries for the management as no data, either
in sales, purchase or inventory tallied with the actual at hand.
This made decision making for the management of the
company impossible or a huge risk.
It was then that company decided to go for an ERP to solve all
these glitches. Implementation of ERP started by Nov 2003.
Challenges of understanding the concepts and quick
adoptability by staff during implementation of ERP were
tackled well by team from both sides
