This document provides guidance for a student to summarize artwork produced for an art assignment covering two units on visual language, materials, and techniques. It instructs the student to create a PowerPoint presentation with 6-12 slides summarizing their work and how it meets the assessment criteria. The slides should include information and images demonstrating their use of primary and secondary sources, formal elements, visual language, techniques, safety considerations in developing ideas, and an evaluation of their work.

Equivalents project summary template [recovered]
1. Equivalents Unit Coverage: Unit 1 & Unit 2
This project is about working from direct observation, thinking and exploring the
world around us. You have used drawing to analyse, develop skills and to
communicate ideas.
You have used a wide range of two and three dimensional materials and
processes. Through using an experimental approach you are learning the
creative process to generate new ideas
The following slides are a template to use in order to summarise your work, which
should include information and images of your work produced for this
assignment.
Present the Powerpoint slides on your blog using ‘Slideshare’.
Information of how to embed Slideshare in your blog can be found in the toolkit
on the Art & design website. Here is the link

**Use the following slides (nos. 3-12) to summarise the work you have produced -
show how you have met the assessment criteria**
2. Equivalents Unit Coverage: Unit 1 & Unit 2
The assignment is designed to produced opportunities to produce evidence for these units
Unit 1:
2D 3D Visual Language
You need to produce work, which
demonstrates development of skills and
creativity in using visual language
The work should be organised and
annotated to show your evaluative skills
and development over time. Also
experimentation with mark-making and
object-making techniques, formal
elements and sources.
Evidence should be from contextual
studies, developmental and/or final
project work
Unit 2:
Materials, Techniques and Processes
Produce work, which
demonstrates your understanding
of skills in using media, materials,
techniques, processes and
associated technology. This should
include; samples, trials, notes,
records and exploratory project
work
4. Slide 2 –Primary and Secondary sources
Primary sources
For my still life drawing I used primary sources as
I was looking at what I was drawing myself and
drawing what I saw . I was retaining the
information myself and turning it into a drawing.
Secondary sources
Mostly for my homework I would collect
information from the internet about different
artists and their work. This is a secondary
source as I have found the information from
other peoples research.
5. Slide 3-Formal elements
In this project I used a lot of different formal elements mostly tone and mark making. I used mark making to describe and
show different textures of objects and make the drawing or painting more interesting to look at, I used tone to make my
drawings and paintings look more 3d and realistic also to emphasise light and dark areas. I found using formal elements
quite difficult as it was a new skill for me learn and interrupt in my work

Using pencil
and charcoal to
show tone.
6. Slide 4 –Visual language
In the sculpture project we used our
prints as inspiration and interpreted it
into a sculpture. I looked at my print and
started using the shapes and objects and
turning them into a sculpture or simply
suggesting the shapes that appear in my
print to show the connection between
the two different pieces of art.
My print My sculpture
7. Slide 5 –Techniques
In this painting I used colour to describe tone. I used
the primary colours to mix different shades of colour to
represent light and dark areas. I would also squint to
see more clearly where the light and dark areas are.
I also use different techniques of applying the paint to
my painting to suggest and show different textures and
materials of the object.
8. Slide 6 –Safety in developing ideas
When developing my work I had to make sure that
what I was doing was safe and was done correctly.
In our print making project there were many safety
aspects I had to think about like trapping my fingers
in the rollers and making sure I am using the roller
press properly.
When developing my prints I came across some
difficulty at putting the paper in the correct position,
so the second time I tried it I was extremely careful
when putting the piece of paper down and making
sure my fingers or hair wasn’t any where near the
roller , I also made sure any of the water from when I
was soaking my paper didn’t drip on the fall so I or
anyone else didn’t fall over. After I took these safety
aspects into consideration my print was successful
and managed to put the paper in the correct postion
in order for it to work.

9. Evaluation Summary
Assessment criteria: evaluation of your work is vital to your development as
an artist/designer –it is important to question your approach, what have you
learnt, how have you developed an idea and what you would do differently
in future to improve.
Evaluation of the use visual language in your work and how it was informed
by looking at others’ approach (Unit 1)
Analyse and evaluate the creative potential and limitations of your use of
materials, techniques and technology (Unit 2)
Evaluation: this includes on-going annotation in sketchbook and final project
evaluation. Write bullet points and support with examples of your work
