This document provides an introduction to and overview of the self-study course "Principles of Epidemiology in Public Health Practice". The course is published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and contains 5 lessons that cover topics such as the definition of epidemiology, the epidemiological approach, descriptive and analytic epidemiology, measures of disease frequency and risk, displaying public health data, and public health surveillance. Each lesson includes objectives, major sections on topic areas, exercises, and self-assessment quizzes.
