electionz.com is New Zealand’s leading Election Management Services provider.
Our services include - placing public notices to call for nominations, candidate
management, designing and arranging for election material to be printed or made
available digitally, printing and mailing voting documents, email and sms
communications with voters, processing returned votes (via postal, internet and
telephone voting) and declaring results.
Our clients range in size from 100 to 300,000 voters and include – universities, power
trusts, Iwi, agricultural co-operatives (Fonterra, Silver Fern Farms, Alliance Group, Beef
& Lamb), banks, credit unions, professional organisations (Law Society, Chartered
Accountants, Project Managers, Teachers, Nurses).
Every three years, we are involved with running the Local Council elections where the
voting public of New Zealand choose their Mayor, Councillors, Community Board
members, Regional Councillors and District Health Board members.
This market segment has grown steadily for us since we first started providing these
election services in 2001, to where we now contract to 42 Local Councils, throughout
New Zealand.
Because all Local Council elections are held at the same time and because we have
built such a large user base of Councils, we need to hire temporary staff to help us
during the three week, vote processing period.
For the 2016 Local Council elections, we projected we would need 130 extra staff.
Enterprise Recruitment and other recruitment agencies were asked to provide a
proposal outlining how they would go about recruiting and delivering the staff, with the
skills we would require.
The Enterprise proposal stood out due to the detail and obvious thought they had put
into their response; they had clearly done their homework.
It was particularly pleasing to see a team would be involved from their end, rather than
just one person. Their proposal not only named their team members, but also gave their
number of years’ experience in the recruitment industry and the number of years they
have been at Enterprise Recruitment. This gave us comfort knowing we were dealing
with professionals with extensive experience, who were settled, long term employees of
the company.

We were invited to their office to meet the team and management and to also see the
backend time capture and reporting system that would be used. This helped us get to
know the people who would be involved and also to gain an understanding of the detail
we could get from their time management system, which would ultimately provide us
with important statistics as well as significantly simplifying the administration process.
The Christchurch branch manager, Steve Baker, took the lead role throughout the
project. He quickly gained an in-depth knowledge of our business and would ensure the
appropriate Enterprise resources were available as required. He also maintained a high
profile with the staff during the delivery phase, making sure they were comfortable in the
role in which they had been placed.
Steve’s onsite visits and making himself accessible, was a significant factor in helping us
achieve good, strong staff continuity. Importantly, this avoids having to train
replacements and the disruption it can cause while someone new is coming up to speed.
This was a large, complex project, involving interviewing over 400 applicants to fill 130
positions covering a large range of skill sets. I can happily say we were very impressed
with the service we received from Steve and his team at Enterprise Recruitment and
would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking to hire an outstanding
