4.  Skimming is actually the overview of the
topic.
 This type of reading is done rapidly to have
an idea about what the text is all about.
 This type of reading reads the group of
information.
 Some examples of skimming exercises are :
reading headings of newspapers,read the
table of contents of chapter,reading 1st &
last line of paragraph.

5.  It means to read the text rapidly to locate
specific information.
 One can look into dictionary to have an
idea what s/he is looking for.
 It includes reading of title
page,subheadings,etc..
 In this technique of reading keywords &
phrases are empathized.

6.  It is the rigorous,serious & exhaustive
reading.
 It requires more time than skimming &
scanning.
 This type of reading is used to achieve
higher level of understanding in given
field.
 It is helpful in retaining learnt things.

7.  Extensive reading is reading as much as
possible.
 It is reading for pleasure.
 One does’nt need to look up to dictionary
while reading.
 It increases the reading fluency.
 Example of this type of reading is reading
the book or newspaper.
