WELCOME
The objective of this guide is to inform patients and
family of the benefits of the Laboratory of the Area
Health Management East of Málaga-Axarquía.
In the Laboratory, work is conducted by a group of
professionals: doctors, nurses, technicians,
assistants,administrative staff, orderlies, assigned to the
various Units of this area, who place their qualifications
and professional experience to serve your health
requirements.
We strive to provide a quality service, information
to the patient, attention to their needs, solve their
complaints and integrate their opinion of the
organization in order to improve the quality of care.

You are in a Smoke-Free Hospital and we
remind you that smoking is not permitted in
any area of the hospital.

Laboratory: 8-15hrs without interruption
Mondays to Fridays. Donors 11.30 to 14.30.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR SAMPLING
How to reach the Laboratory and Blood test room
The Laboratory is located in the basement.
Blood tests are carried out on the Ground Floor.
The Hospital Information Service, located at the
entrance to the Hospital, will inform you how to
reach the Laboratory or the blood test room.
Always follow the TERMS of patient information for
the collection of samples generated by the Laboratory
which can be picked up here or at the Health Centre.
Remember that the results depend on these instructions

Laboratory of the Regional Hospital of the Axarquía
The Axarquia Hospital belongs to the network of hospitals
of the Andalusian Public Health System.
The mission of the Laboratory is toprovide health care
specializing in Clinical Analysis to the population of the
Axarquia.

BASIC PATIENT GUIDE
The laboratory will provide a "BASIC PATIENT GUIDE
"where you will find all the information relating to
telephones,timetables peripheral blood test centres,
instructionsfor taking samples, Services portfolio,
instructions for claims, indicators, appointments and
general information
Refer to the Health Centre or Surgery for information
relative to Blood tests.
TYPE OF CARE
A.- appointment is for:
1 - Request for children under 4 years
2- Application Overload glucose 75-100
3- Application with extraction tests exclusively hospital
(marked " H" or " HD " )
4- Requests made in other areas of health
B- Demand :
1- urgent only
2- act one
Obtaining the quote is from :

b -Consultation specialist hospital
GENERAL INFORMATION
-For blood tests, fast at least 8-10 hours. If the test is for
the fat series you should fast for at least 12 hours.
-If you are taking any medication, whatever it is, tell
your doctor so that, if he deems it necessary, he will
enter it on the blood test application
- A blood test cannot be performed if you have
previously undergone a radiological examination
requiring contrast
Your doctor has information on specific diets
or any other specific precondition required by
the test.
You will be given instructions on how to perform the
collecting of samples (urine, feces, semen, saliva etc.).
Follow the instructions carefully. Request this
information, in writing from the Laboratory or your
Health Centre.
LEARN ABOUT THE PLACE AND TIME OF BLOOD
TESTS.
Find out if the test is done daily or on certain days
When you go to the blood test area, make sure you take
the blood test form
Comply scrupulously with the sample collection times. If
there is spillage, start again.
Retain the samples adequately during collection.
If the sample requires a preservative, it will be provided
by the Laboratory or the Health Centre.
Always use the sterile containers provided by the
Laboratory or Health Centre.
Write name and surname on containers with samples.
Hermetically seal the containers.
There are Laboratory tests that require your INFORMED
CONSENT. Your doctor will inform you of the laboratory
tests needed, how to request an appointment and will ask
you to sign a consent form for tests that require it.
GUARANTEES
The Laboratory guarantees at all times
confidentiality of data and medical history
under Organic Law 15/1999, of 13 December
on the Protection of Personal Data.
The Hospital guarantees compliance
with Citizen Rights and Duties.
In all areas of the centre the
“Chart of Rights and Duties”
is available
The Laboratory guarantees
the right to a second opinion
diagnosis of patients.
All professionals carry an identification card
which states the name and professional category.
RESPONSE TIMES
The average response times of the different tests are
as follows:
General Biochemistry, Basic Hematology, Basic
Serology, Urine, Immunochemistry:
-Scheduled Hospitalization: 3-4 hours
-Urgent Hospitalization: <1 hour
-ER: <1 hour
-Outpatient: 24 hours
Primary Care: 24 hours
