Sweet Bread (Cozonac)
The sweet bread is a traditional Romanian cake,
traditionally cooked for Christmas. The most
visible difference is the round and high shape.
Dough is about the same in all of Romania. The
main ingredients are flour, milk, sugar, eggs,
butter, yeast, and for a more pleasant taste are
added lemon and / or orange. From the point of
view of the shape, the sweeet bread can be
straight or round, simple or braided. The
composition can contain nut, hazelnut, poppy,
raisins, candied fruits, cocoa, marmalade or
combinations of these ingredients.
The sweet breads are baked in the well-heated
oven at the beginning at approx. 180 ° C. After
they have grown and begin to roam, the fire
goes slower (the oven does not open!). Once they
have been removed from the oven, allow them
to cool in the heat-resistant tray.
