Biomedical engineering is the application of engineering principles and techniques to medicine and biology. It combines engineering expertise with medical sciences to improve healthcare diagnosis, monitoring and therapy. Some key areas of biomedical engineering include biomechanics, clinical engineering, rehabilitation engineering, physiological systems, biomaterials research and bioinstrumentation. Studying biomedical engineering allows one to combine their interests in both medicine and engineering in order to advance healthcare technologies and help improve patient care.
