This case report describes the successful removal of nine constricting rings from the fingers of a poorly cared for schizophrenia patient in the emergency department. The patient had a history of recurrent schizophrenia relapses and non-adherence to treatment. Attempts to remove the rings previously had failed and led to infection and gangrene requiring amputation. In this instance, the rings were removed using procedural sedation with midazolam and fentanyl along with a wrist block. Support from family is important to prevent future recurrence and negligence in caring for schizophrenia patients. Early intervention and treatment is crucial to avoid permanent injury.

Abstract:
This workshop sponsored by the Canadian Association of Social Psychiatry (CASP) reviews two contemporary Canadian psychiatric issues from a social psychiatry perspective:
1. Vincenzo Di Nicola (Montreal, QC) presents a social psychiatry manifesto with an overview of Social Psychiatry in the 21st century by surveying three main branches of Social Psychiatry: (1) psychiatric epidemiological studies and public health; (2) community psychiatry; and (3) relational and social therapies such as couple, family and community therapies. Implications for research, practice, and teaching in social psychiatry will be outlined.
2. Daphne Marussi (Sherbrooke, QC) explores Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) which describes an alarming aspect of relational violence with major social psychiatric consequences: the physical, sexual, or psychological harm by a current/former partner that is associated with many mental disorders from anxiety and depression to eating and substance abuse disorders. This presentation discusses different forms of psychological abuse and coercive control in IPV, the abused/abuser bond and their impacts and consequences.

are doing very good job on national level to make people aware about government related
schemes but local channels are least interested to do a job for health awareness. It has also

way which is used to pursued the public about a particular disease or epidemic. The current
study intends to find out the level of awareness of health issues among the people and to
find out the most effective mode of health communication. The present research leads to the
findings that people of Punjab are aware of health issues but not fully aware about the health
schemes initiated by government of India. The mainstream media like radio and television
are doing very good job on national level to make people aware about government related
schemes but local channels are least interested to do a job for health awareness. It has also
come into light that private media is not very serious for spreading health related information

CAKE: Sharing Slices of Confidential Data on Blockchain
Presented at the CAiSE 2024 Forum, Intelligent Information Systems, June 6th, Limassol, Cyprus.
Synopsis: Cooperative information systems typically involve various entities in a collaborative process within a distributed environment. Blockchain technology offers a mechanism for automating such processes, even when only partial trust exists among participants. The data stored on the blockchain is replicated across all nodes in the network, ensuring accessibility to all participants. While this aspect facilitates traceability, integrity, and persistence, it poses challenges for adopting public blockchains in enterprise settings due to confidentiality issues. In this paper, we present a software tool named Control Access via Key Encryption (CAKE), designed to ensure data confidentiality in scenarios involving public blockchains. After outlining its core components and functionalities, we showcase the application of CAKE in the context of a real-world cyber-security project within the logistics domain.

Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software Fuzzing
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.

The Chief Guest for the function was Shri Jaynarayanbhai Vyas, Health Minister, Government of Gujarat. Shri Jaynarayan Vyas, said Emotion should be placed at last in communication and should be handled effectively and efficiently. He explained to the students about the importance of communication with classic examples from the field of politics, industry and society. He also laid importance on the communication procedure followed amongst the peer groups in the Indian society. In his presentation he referred to various communication activities which were responsible in bringing about “a Sea change” in the history of the world, which included personalities like former prime ministers Mrs. lndira Gandhi, H.D. Devegowda, JRD Tata, Winston Churchill and many more. He explained the ordinary life of the citizens with the help of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs. In his conclusion, he forewarned these future communicators against the use of “emotions” while communicating in the field of Mass Communication. On a different note he also referred to the media policy followed in other countries. How these media personnel are sensitive towards incidents and act responsibly rather than spreading sensational news at the time of tragedy or accident. He compared the communication system of Homo Sapiens with the other animals species and suggested that to be a better communicator one has to be crisp, short and sweet. Mr. Pradeep Jain, Managing Trustee of Vishwa Samvad Education foundation was also present.
