ENGLISH 2 (ENGL 0205)
WRITTEN ASSIGNMENT 1: DESCRIPTIVE ESSAY
LECTURER: Ms. CASSANDRA WIJESURIA
SUBMISSION DATE: 14TH NOVEMBER 2013
It’s 12am in the midnight, my stomach start to beg me for some food
again yet I was still rushing my English assignment, it is submission date
tomorrow! Argg, whatever, I am just going to feed myself some food in the
kitchen. I stand up and get into the kitchen. I feel upset after I switch on the
light because I see nothing except a wok beside the stove. I stare blankly at it.
I never observe it properly since my mother bought it. Now only I realize the
whole part of the wok was made of metal which is iron. The handle of the wok
is wrapped by plastic handle.
I lift it up and hold it in my hand. I feel like holding a shield right now.
The shape of the wok is semi-sphere which the middle part of it is stuck out. I
pretend myself as a warrior who is going for a war. The spirit of wining is full
of my mind. Suddenly, I find out that the wok looks like a hat when during the
imperial times, those official use to wear on their head with a tie around the
jaw. I take the wok and wear it on my head. I look into the mirror which is
located inside the guest room. It looks not bad so I take a self-photo and
upload to instagram.
It is not comfort for wearing because of its weight pressuring my head.
The wok is not as light as I think because the material of making it causes it
has a heavy weight. It can be use as a dumbbell, as it sores my muscle. No
wonder I find out that my mother is getting muscular nowadays; maybe she
needs to carry the wok while cooking therefore her muscle is getting bigger. I
place the wok on the table and observe the surface of it. The surface of the
wok is full of wrinkle, spread equally over the wok. Now I get proved; as time
goes on, not only the wrinkles on women’s face are getting more and more, it
also applied to the wok.
I place my hand inside the wok; it feels so cool and cold. The metal of
the wok made me feel like I am placing my hand in a pail of cold water. I spin
my hand around the backside of the wok; it feels like I am touching my own
face, smooth enough. I use my finger to knock on it, a “dong” sound is
produced which sounds like a gong. I take an egg from the refrigerator to cook
as my supper. The wok produces a “king king kang kang” sound when it react
with the spatula. The sound produced is annoying.
I try to touch the wok again after I fried my egg. Ouch! It’s hot! Finally I
ended up with my hand get burned of the wok. It is as hot as the fire. It’s now
1am, I waste 1 hour to fry an egg and get a burn on my finger tip. Hey it’s
submission tomorrow; I better continue my English assignment. I have to stop
wasting time on this wok which burned me in the midnight. It’s the first time I
get burn in the midnight!
