Three Uruguayan bands, Los Shakers, Los Mockers and Los Walkers, were inspired by British rock bands like The Beatles and The Rolling Stones. They emulated the sounds of these British bands, singing in English, and brought rock music to Buenos Aires, revolutionizing what young people thought of as "music" in Uruguay. The first album by Serú Girán showed influences from Brazilian music mixed with symphonic rock and jazz.
