Neil Armstrong Hall of Engineering represents the achievements and sacrifices of Purdue University alumni. It honors Neil Armstrong, the first man to walk on the moon, and other astronaut alumni including Gene Cernan, the last man to walk on the moon. The building also remembers the legacy of Virgil "Gus" Grissom and Roger Chaffee, who were killed in the Apollo 1 accident, and it represents equal opportunities in engineering regardless of gender or ethnicity.

2. Neil Armstrong Hall of Engineering is a fancy new building for Purdue University. However it is more than what meets the eye.

3. After reaching the moon, Neil Armstrong (‘55) once said; one small step for man… one giant leap for mankind

4. Though the building was named after the astronaut and one of our own, Neil Armstrong, it represents more than the idolization of the first man on the moon.

5. It represents the building blocks of our achievements.

6. It represents challenges that were once faced. Neil Armstrong (‘55) and Gene Cernan (’56),First and the Last person on the moon, respectively.

7. It represents the sacrifices that prevented the future accidents. Virgil I. “Gus” Grissom (‘50) Roger Chaffee (’57)

8. Jan. 27, 1967 – Apollo 1 accident, killing two of our alumni (Grissom and Chaffee) and one other astronaut "If we die, we want people to accept it.
