This document discusses JavaScript encoding and how: 1) ECMAScript source text uses UTF-16 encoding and is normalized to Unicode Normal Form C. Implementations are not required to perform normalization. 2) JavaScript programs can use the full Unicode character set according to ECMAScript v3, though older versions only allowed Unicode in comments and strings. 3) Code uses code points, not bytes, and examples show using Unicode characters in variable and method names and alerts.
