Editor's Notes

  1. The Enchanted Objects talk by David Rose of MIT Media Lab, was a good pointer to how to re-imagine how we interact with the web but also how to start about designing to inventing for it.Devices that don’t interrupy your day, Devices that wait patiently to be usefulDevices with magical properties
  2. I like the idea of imagining the internet of things as the things with magical powers. I frees us up from thinking about technology and more about thinking about useful things that we can do. It also stops us thinking purely in terms of apps that you interact with from behind a piece f glass.so anyway we're onto Enchanted Objects, objects with super powers, objects with magical properties.
  3. I can't help but think that we've forgotten some of the joys of interacting with things. For the most part all our interfaces are flat, and hidden behind glass. our obsession is with a multi use mobile device that physically only tries to get thinner and lighter, not two things that are necessarily linked to any kind of ergonomics, more to the fetishisation of how things look…So I was please to hear that we can break free from the freedoms of mobile and create some objects that have super powers…We are humans, we are, for the most part, touchy-feely kind of animals. why let our interfaces prevent us from this very human nature?
