Emo originated as a type of music in the 1980s that became popular in the 1990s, with the word "emo" coming from "emotional". Emos wear dark, punk-inspired clothing and accessories with strong colors, and style their hair to express their feelings, often covering one eye. While emos understand life has good and bad aspects, others falsely believe they all have eating disorders or early sexual experiences. Emos listen to love and hate songs in their music.
