2. ELEMENTS OF ARTS
● Elements of art are stylistic features that are included
within an art piece to help the artist communicate.
● Seven most common elements include line, shape,
texture, form, space, colour and value, with the
additions of mark making, and materiality.
● When analyzing these intentionally utilized elements,
the viewer is guided towards a deeper understanding
of the work.
3. IMPORTANCE OF ELEMENTS
OF ART-
● WE USE ELEMENT OF ART TO CREATE ARTWORK.
● KNOWING THESE ELEMENTS OF ART WILL ALLOW YOU TO
ANALYZE, APPRECIATE ,WRITE AND CHAT ABOUT ART ,AS
WELL AS BEING OF HELP SHOULD YOU CREATE ART
YOURSELF
● ELEMENT OF ART HELP TO COMMUNICATE AN IDEA OR
EXPRESS A FEELING.
4. 7 ELEMENT OF ART-
● LINE
● FORM
● SHAPE
● SPACE
● COLOR
● Value
● TEXTURE
5. LINE-
● Line are marks moving in a space between two points whereby
a viewer can visualize the stroke movement, direction and
intention based on how the line is oriented.
● Lines describe an outline, capable of producing texture
according to their length and curve.
● There are different types of lines artists may use, including,
actual, implied, vertical, horizontal, diagonal and contour lines,
which all have different functions.
● Lines are also situational elements, requiring the viewer to
have knowledge of the physical world in order to understand
their flexibility, rigidity, synthetic nature, or life.[1]*
7. FORM-
● Form is a three-dimensional object with volume of height,
width and depth.
● These objects include cubes, spheres
and cylinders.
● Form is often used when referring to
physical works of art, like sculptures, as form is connected
most closely with three-dimensional
works.
10. SHAPE-
● Shapes are areas of enclosed space that are two-
dimensional. Shapes are flat, and can only have height and
width. The two different categories of shapes are: geometric
and organic.
TYPES OF SHAPE-
● Geometric shapes are mathematical, like circles and
squares.
● Organic shapes come from nature, like clouds and leaves.
11. WHAT IS 2D AND 3-D?
A two-dimensional (2D) object is an object that only has
two dimensions, such as a length and a width, and no
thickness or height.
EGS-
12. 3 Dimensional shapes-
A three-dimensional (3D) object is an object with three dimensions: a
length, a width, and a height.

13. COLOUR-
● There are three different components to color, there is hue which is
the name we give the color (red, yellow, blue, etc.), intensity, which
refers to the vividness of the color (intensity can also be referred to as
saturation or purity), and value meaning how dark or light a color is.
Color can be used symbolically or to produce a pattern or to show
contrast in a piece.
● TYPES OF COLOUR-
1. PRIMARY COLOR
2. SECONDARY COLOR
3. TERITARY COLOR
14. PRIMARY COLOR-The primary colors are red, yellow, and blue. They are
called primary for a couple of reasons. First, no two colors can be mixed to create a
primary color. In other words, primary colors can only be created through the use
of natural pigments.
● RED ,YELLOW,BLUE are primary colours.
SECONDARY COLOR The secondary colors are orange, green, and purple. Secondary
colors are created by mixing equal parts of any two primary colors.
1. Yellow + blue =Green.
2. Red +blue = purple(violet).
3. Red + yellow =orange.
TERTIARY COLOR Tertiary colors are created by mixing equal parts of a
secondary color and a primary color together. There are six tertiary colors-
● red-purple, red-orange, blue-green, yellow-green, blue-purple, and yellow-
orange.*

19. TEXTURE -
● Texture is how an object looks or feels. Sometimes
texture can actually felt, such as in sculpture or the
texture of work can be implied such as if you were to
sketch a sheep’s wool. Some words to describe texture
include soft, hard, rough, brittle, fluffy, or smooth.
