- 3. Let’s imagine a project team with three roles
- 5. In agile, these roles are likely to overlap rather than be entirely separate
- 7. Some tasks will belong to a certain role while others will be shared
- 9. Some tasks will fall outside the bounds of any role
- 11. So someone in the team has to stretch to pick this task up
- 13. As more of these tasks appear…
- 15. … the team will be stretched in many different directions
- 17. Now imagine the boundary of your role is elastic
- 18. Once you have completed a task that falls outside of your role
- 19. The boundary of your role snaps back to its original shape
- 22. Where we have stretched, our elastic role boundary distorts
- 24. These distortions mean that when the same task appears again…
- 25. …it may be easier for the same role to stretch and pick it up
- 28. It’s not always easier for the same person to stretch though
- 29. Imagine one role has a lot of tasks
- 32. Then the stretch might come from a role who has never completed that task before
- 35. We may also stretch between roles to help each other out…
- 38. …but the elastic always snaps back.
