Okay, based on the information provided:
- Dogtas Company sold 80,000 furniture in 2007, 125,000 in 2008, and 100,000 in 2009
- GDP growth rates were 7%, 9%, and 5% respectively in those years
- GDP growth is expected to be -2% in 2010, 3% in 2011, and 5% in 2012
To calculate the furniture demand:
- Find the average income elasticity from 2007-2009 data using the formula: Elasticity = (% change in demand) / (% change in GDP)
- Apply the average elasticity to the expected GDP growth rates to calculate the expected % change in demand
- Use the 2009 demand as a base to calculate demand in 2010
Okay, based on the information provided:
- Locate the data points on a graph with Date on the x-axis and Demand on the y-axis
- Plot the points for January (2500), February (2800), and March (3050)
- Draw a best-fit line through the points to represent the demand trend
- The graphic method allows predicting future demand by extending the line. However, it is not very reliable since it does not consider factors that may impact demand. More data points and analysis would be needed for an accurate forecast.
