The project involved preschoolers ages 3 to 5 investigating birds and their nests over several months. It began when two girls discovered a nest, sparking the children's curiosity. The project proceeded in phases including learning about nests from books and questions, multiple field trips to observe nests firsthand, drawing sketches of nests, analyzing a real nest brought to class, and making nest models with clay and weaving. The hands-on learning helped the children's understanding and representation skills grow throughout the project.
