Cross-Curricular Programming

  Completely flexible schedule

  Collaboration and project based learning

  Integration of information literacy instruction with the
  classroom curriculum

  Classroom teachers will be scheduling activities

  Professional development related to information literacy
  and library resources
Grade 4 Educational Goals
Fourth grade students will:

     Find and use paper resources in the library

     Use reference materials in the library to complete research for
     school projects

     Use the library independently to pursue personal interests and
     informational needs

     Use the EHUE Library Website as a guide for information
     needs

     Use library materials responsibly
Grade 5 Educational Goals
Fifth grade students will:

      Follow a research process

      Use strategies to choose reliable resources for research including
      paper sources, websites, and online databases

      Cite sources of borrowed material

      Use the library independently to pursue personal interests and
      informational needs

      Use the EHUE Library Website as a guide for information needs

      Use library materials responsibly
Grade 6 Educational Goals
Sixth grade students will:

      Follow a research process

      Use information ethically by respecting copyright laws, borrowing
      materials with Creative Commons licensing, and citing sources

      Use strategies to choose a variety of reliable resources for research
      including primary and secondary sources

      Use the library independently to pursue personal interests and
      informational needs

      Use the EHUE Library Website as a guide for information needs

      Use library materials responsibly

 Collaboration is essential!

 A classroom teacher should always be present.

 Minimum time commitments should be observed.

 Multiple classes can schedule the same activity simultaneously.

 More time should be allotted when combining scheduled
 activities.

 A library visit is not always required.

 Students are encouraged to visit independently.

EHUE Library Program 2012-2013

Grade 5 Educational Goals Fifth grade students will: Follow a research process Use strategies to choose reliable resources for research including paper sources, websites, and online databases Cite sources of borrowed material Use the library independently to pursue personal interests and informational needs Use the EHUE Library Website as a guide for information needs Use library materials responsibly

  • 13. About Educational Programming and Scheduled Activities Collaboration is essential! A classroom teacher should always be present. Minimum time commitments should be observed. Multiple classes can schedule the same activity simultaneously. More time should be allotted when combining scheduled activities. A library visit is not always required. Students are encouraged to visit independently.

Collaboration between the librarian and the classroom teacher will be vital to the success of the library media program. \nWhen a classroom visits the library for a scheduled activity a classroom teacher will always be present.\nTo meet the goals of the library media program the minimum time commitments should be observed.\nThe classroom teacher is responsible for scheduling activities, however in some circumstances more than one class can be participating at once (i.e. multiple classes could view the Book Fair preview video.)\nMore time should be allotted when combining scheduled activities (i.e. combining research time and open book exchange)\nSome instructional activities can actually be completed without a library visit, either through video tutorials, a classroom visits by the librarian if possible, or in class assignments\nIn addition to scheduled class visits, students are strongly encouraged to visit independently as needed with a pass.\n
