Introduction
The Active Directory Syncing Add-On Tool makes it easy to create users and
groups inside eFileCabinet. Instead of creating individual users or user groups,
Active Directory Syncing allows you to import users from your Windows
Directory. This is especially convenient for entities with large user groups.
Step Action
1 Import Active Directory
The fourth step in the Server Wizard will enable you to import users and groups from
your Active Directory.
Note: In the event that you missed this step in the Server Wizard, you can also initiate
the same window from within the program by clicking the Import from Active
Directory Button located within the Users and Groups section of the program.
2
Click Get Users and Groups.

The blue eFileCabinet User Icon will appear next to each imported user’s name.
Each user’s permissions can be customized by clicking on the user and then clicking
Edit.
(Note: The New User, New Group, and Delete Buttons will NOT make changes to
your Active Directory. These buttons are for eFileCabinet changes only and will not
be synced with the Active Directory.)
Click Next.
6
After importing your users, you will need to set permissions on each Cabinet within
the eFileCabinet Program. It is recommended that you set permissions for groups
instead of users, as this will make it easier to change permissions.
If the groups were also imported through Active Directory, then when users are
assigned to new groups in Active Directory, those changes will also be synced to
eFileCabinet periodically.

The next time you log in to eFileCabinet, click the blue Login with Windows
Account link.
Clicking this link verifies your Windows login credentials, matches you to your
eFileCabinet account, and logs you in as that user.
8
Active Directory will periodically sync both accounts and update your users and user
groups, helping you to easily and accurately manage your user directory. For
example, user accounts are deleted for employees that are no longer with the
company.
