The Internet of Things is coming upon us bringing a whole range of fundamental changes in the way we imagine, understand, and write services. One of the major trends we’re wittnessing is the breakdown of monoliths, and Microsoft’s web stack is among the candidates. With the new .NET framework and standards like OWIN, the world of web development is changing significantly.
We’re going to cover in this session some advanced scenarios involving ASP.NET MVC 5, WebAPI 2, OWIN, Katana (Microsoft’s implementation of OWIN), and, of course, Windows Azure (Windows Azure Active Directory to be more specific). And to make things more real, we’re going to demonstrate everything using a solution used by our team at HTSS-Genisoft in real-life production.
The Modern Tech Stack: Microservices - The Dark SideAggregage
A few years ago, Barclays embarked on a journey to migrate its legacy services to a modern tech stack with the objective of achieving a high level of scale, resilience, and reliability. During the incremental, iterative move towards an ecosystem of focused, distributed services, it’s fair to say that the company discovered the challenges of distributing objects. Join us for an episode you can’t miss if you’re finding it a lot harder to architect in practice than in theory, and learn how you can shed light on the dark side of microservices.

Video production in the cloud for live streamingPaul Richards
Isn’t it incredible when when we can see technology trends repeat themselves in a matter a few years? It feels like Cisco just put the final nail in the video conferencing codec coffin a few months ago, officially ended by the stellar growth in cloud based video meeting software. Just last week in Season 2, Episode 5 of our live streaming show we interviewed what I believe to be the very first cloud based video production software built for the live streaming market. As many of us are aware the shift to the cloud has meant major change and opportunity for businesses around the world. In this article, I will review and predict what the next generation of live streaming software in the cloud has to offer.
It’s amazing what can be done in the cloud these days! In our December 2nd live show I interviewed, Philippe Laurent, CEO of EasyLive. Laurent has finally brought video production into the ever powerful cloud with the new EasyLive SaaS platform! Built from the ground up as a cloud based application EasyLive allows teams from around the world to easily access the same live video production interface. The full YouTube live interview is embedded below (you can skip to minute 7 to watch the live demo only).

SUGCON: The Agile Nirvana of DevSecOps and ContainerizationVasiliy Fomichev
Sitecore deployments are traditionally relatively expensive due to the technological and architectural limitations. The introduction of a containerized hosting model is a game-changer in the Sitecore DevOps story. It allows DevOps teams to enable delivery security features, and reduce deployment cycles through automation, by activating DevSecOps strategies. This flexibility or cost-efficiency of containerized deployments allows DevOps and engineering teams to focus on and align around business value, rather than being handicapped by the legacy technology and systems. In this session we will walk the attendees through the benefits of a DevSecOps pipeline to IT, development teams, and their business leadership and show what it takes to migrate to the AKS-hosted infrastructure from an on-premise setup. We will present a reference design for an automated DevSecOps pipeline that focuses on security, quality, and speed. The session will cover the learnings from a major healthcare technology and research company that has gone through this shift and highlight the impact they experienced on the infrastructure, solution architecture, DevOps pipeline, processes and internal resources - Infrastructure: we will provide a feature overview of Azure vs AWS as it relates to a containerized Sitecore implementation, covering risks, cons, and pros associated with each and the cost estimation process for AKS. Sitecore Topology: we will cover the steps for changing Sitecore default AKS topology for maximum cost efficiency, and flexibility. DevOps pipeline: we will cover the automation that is required to move towards DevSecOps with environment creation via Infrastructure as Code, disaster recovery, and zero-downtime fully automated deployments to production. Processes and team changes: We will present how the new DevSecOps pipeline will affect internal processes and what internal support team changes are required to continue managing the new infrastructure and release pipeline.

Elevating Tactical DDD Patterns Through Object CalisthenicsDorra BARTAGUIZ
After immersing yourself in the blue book and its red counterpart, attending DDD-focused conferences, and applying tactical patterns, you're left with a crucial question: How do I ensure my design is effective? Tactical patterns within Domain-Driven Design (DDD) serve as guiding principles for creating clear and manageable domain models. However, achieving success with these patterns requires additional guidance. Interestingly, we've observed that a set of constraints initially designed for training purposes remarkably aligns with effective pattern implementation, offering a more ‘mechanical’ approach. Let's explore together how Object Calisthenics can elevate the design of your tactical DDD patterns, offering concrete help for those venturing into DDD for the first time!

Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
Today, after several years of existence, an extremely active community and an ultra-dynamic ecosystem, Kubernetes has established itself as the de facto standard in container orchestration. Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.
Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.

re:Trospective event
Thank you for coming to listen to our session today.
We’ll talk about JAWS PANKRATION 2021 held last year.
Who are we?
Why are we standing here, we are member of JAWS PANKRATION Organizer.
I’m Shun Yoshie.
I usually work as a IT Security Consultant.
I received AWS Community Hero title in 2021.
I’m Hidetoshi Matsui.
I usually work as a TechLead@StartupTechnology Inc.
I also received AWS Serverless Hero title in 2021.
And as you know, I won the APAC Community Award 2022 Insist on the Highest standard yesterday.
I would like to introduce the AWS user group in Japan.
We are JAWS-UG.
More than 60 chapters are active in the small island nation.
JAWS-UG has 4 principles.
Have a fun!
Make a difference!
Go global!
Find new heroes!
I will explain the events launched to carry out the third and fourth principles.
By the way, there is a popular proverb that is well known in the Japanese community.
アウトプットしないのは知的な便秘。
This means “No Output, No Life. Let’s enjoy OUTPUT!!”
Launching this event is also my own output.
When I became a Community Hero, my dream was to one day host a global event that invited AWS Masters from all over the world.
In 2021, the Olympics were held in Japan. So I named the event after the mixed martial arts that was played in the ancient Greek Olympics.
Yes, it's called PANKRATION.
Some people read it as Pankration(パンクレーション), others read it as Pankration(パンクラチオン), but in Japan, it's called Pankration(パンクラチオン).
Based on the principles I mentioned earlier, I set the basic concept of the event as described.
In particular, I wanted to build relationships with overseas engineers.
However, Japanese people are all shy, so they don't really look overseas.
It was necessary to attract Japanese engineers to the global event.
Through the event, I was thinking of discovering or cultivating the next generation of AWS Heroes.
We held a non-stop 24-hour online event last year as well.
In this timetable, we adopted a follow-the-sun model because speakers from all over the world will gather.
The breakdown of Call for Proposal winners was a 2:1(2 to 1) ratio of Japanese and non-Japanese speakers.
We confirmed with the selected applicants the date and time they would like to speak.
We set up a timetable to be fair and follow the sun.
Next, there was the issue of real time translation to convey the session to Japanese and non-Japanese people. We had to figure out a way to tie localization and globalization together.
As a mechanism for real time translation, we thought of using a device called Pocketalk.
I thought there would be no refusal to have this touched.
Engineers will love these gadgets!
We believed that everyone would play!
In addition, we have prepared a campaign to give a T-shirt as a present. Same T-shirt as the speakers.
Thanks to that, SNS was a great success.
When we couldn't deliver the swag because there was no direct shipping, we asked AWS people in each country to help us.
Mr. Shafraz Rahim & Mr.Jason Dunn was especially helpful. Thank you very very much.
The best way to fight through the 24 hours is to enjoy intermission.
Community produced introductory videos of the speakers, jingles, exciting music, and stretching videos.
Smooth operation is also required.
The division of roles on the day is also important. But the most important thing was having a document ready to switch speakers and speaker information in 5 minutes.
The reaction from overseas speakers was very good, and they said that you should definitely share your know-how on distribution.
So, I applied for CFP this time.
As a result of the event, we were able to have many AWS Heroes, Community Builders, Alexa Champions, AWS Top Engineers, etc.
An event with over 900 participants and 70 speakers in one day ran the Amazon IVS for 27 hours with zero downtime. Mr.Matsui will explain this in detail later.
Participation from 22 countries
speakers from 13 countries
The above is the result of the event.
I will pass the baton.
Next, I will explain the broadcasting infrastructure of JAWS PANKRATION 2021, comparing it with previous JAWS events.
Until now, JAWS-UG's broadcasting infrastructure for online events has been built completely serverless using various AWS managed services.
PANKRATION leverages past experience to deliver a better user experience and improve operational efficiency.
The result, as you can see, is a very simple and elegant architecture.
PANKRATION's broadcasting architecture is not a three-tiered architecture divided into client, data processing and data store, but an event-driven architecture in which components with separate roles work together.
The biggest advantage of this architecture is that data communication goes from a pull type to a push type.
This improves communication efficiency and contributes to performance improvement and cost reduction.
In addition, by including all the various data associated with broadcasting in the video, it is now possible to see dynamic information such as the number of viewers in real time even when the user is viewing the video in full screen.
Here is a summary of the distribution infrastructure of PANKRATION.
We built this broadcasting infrastructure entirely with community members, without outsourcing anything.
And by building it completely serverless using managed services, we have achieved scalability and high availability.
As a result, we have achieved comfortable viewing without any downtime.
And the output of this broadcasting platform has become one of the most popular contents in the community.
Finally, explain what I would like to challenge in future online events.
We are trying to template such a broadcasting infrastructure using AWS CDK.
And we will update the implementation of the application to further improve the user experience.
And JAWS DAYS 2022 - Satellites is going to be held!
We hope to show you our improved broadcasting infrastructure at this event as well!
That's all from me.
From now on, Shun will take over again.
I will speak again from here.
Keep a record of what we did well and what we didn't, and hand it over to the members who hold the next big event.
There are 16 organising committee members.
JAWS PANKRATION Organizer, please raise your hands!
We are JAWS PANKRATION Organizer.
and, there were many other collaborators.
Raise your hand if you attended JAWS PANKRATION!
Thank you very much to all participants.
The event was a success because of you.
That is all for our presentation
