This document provides education indicators for Puerto Rico from 2005-2009, including: 1. Primary enrollment rates, which gives total student enrollment and gender breakdowns for primary education, as well as net and gross primary enrollment rates. 2. Pupil to teacher ratios in primary education, listing total students and teachers in primary education and the resulting pupil to teacher ratio. 3. Secondary enrollment rates, with total student enrollment and gender data for secondary education, plus net and gross secondary enrollment rates.

population of the corresponding official school age. Primary education provides children with basic reading, writing, and mathematics skills along with an elementary understanding of such subjects as
history, geography, natural science, social science, art, and music.

According to the World Bank’s World Development Indicators, this corresponds to the ratio of children, regardless of age, who are enrolled in school to the population that officially corresponds to the
primary education level. Primary education provides children with basic reading, writing, and mathematics skills along with an elementary understanding of such subjects as history, geography, natural
science, social science, art, and music. The gross enrollment rate shows the general level of participation in formal schooling by the childhood population. A gross enrollment rate value of 100 percent
indicates that a country is, in principle, able to accommodate all of its school‐aged population.
