3.  After the district of Grand Port ,Flacq is the
district that has more link with the Dutch
colonization.
 The dutch name of Flacq is ‘vlakt’ which means
plate . This due to the topography of the area.
 Belle mare received its name from the Captain
Jean Francois of Belle Mare who was camping
with his troops in the area on 1762.

4.  Bras d’eau covers an area of 497.2 Hectares.
 It is an important site which comprises
wetlands, forests, jogging tracks, old sugar
mills , old railway track , picnic spots ,and the
puit francais.
 It equally houses Mare Sarcelle , a natural
waterbody.
 Consists of important and thriving population
of mangroves ,orchids , native plant species
and migratory birds.

9.  POSTE LA FAYETTE BEACH IS FEW METRES
FROM BRAS D’EAU , THE SEA IS ROUGH
AND BATHING IS DANGEROUS.
 IT IS HOWEVER A BEAUTIFUL PIC NIC
SPOT.
 U3A MEMBERS VISITED THE MEMORIAL
OF THE SMF SOLDIERS WHO DIED IN THE
SEA WHILE EXERCISING ON 9TH JULY 1964.

10.  BELLEMARE IS A BEAUTIFUL BEACH
SITUATED IN THE EASTERN PART OF THE
ISLAND…IT IS A REPUTED PICNIC SPOT
AND ONE CAN ENJOY A GOOD BATH.
 IT EQUALLY DEPICTS OUR HISTORIC PAST
WITH ,MEMORIALS ,RUINS ,LIMEKILN
,RUINS OF PRISONS,RUINS OF SUGAR
FACTORIES.
 IT HOUSES MEMORIAL OF THOSE WHO
PERISHED IN THE CRASH OF THE SAA

WE VISITED THE SSR MEMORIAL AT
KEWAL NAGAR.
 SSR CONSIDERED AS FATHER OF THE
NATION.
