A behind the scenes look at key aspects of the AWS infrastructure deployments. Some of the true differences between a cloud infrastructure design and conventional enterprise infrastructure deployment and why the cloud fundamentally changes application deployment speed, economics, and provides more and better tools for delivering high reliability applications. Few companies can afford to have a datacenter in every region in which they serve customers or have employees. Even fewer can afford to have multiple datacenter in each region where they have a presence. Even fewer can afford to invest in custom optimized network, server, storage, monitoring, cooling, and power distribution systems and software. We'll look more closely at these systems, how they work, how they are scaled, and the advantages they bring to customers.
You have heard how containers are great for running microservices, but running and managing large scale applications with microservices architectures is hard and often requires operating complex container management infrastructure. So what exactly is needed to get microservices to run in production at scale?
In this session, we will explore the reasoning and concepts behind microservices and how containers simplify building microservices based applications, and we will walk through a number of patterns used by our customers to run their microservices platforms. We will also dive deep into some of the challenges of running microservices, such as load balancing, service discovery, and secrets management, and we’ll see how Amazon EC2 Container Service (ECS) can help address them. Organizations today are increasingly looking for faster and cost effective ways to develop and test products before deployment. Often, in an on-premise environment, it can be time consuming to obtain compute resources such as servers or it's usual to have multiple environments so that development and testing can take place outside the production environment. That often involves duplication of infrastructure with associated costs and ongoing maintenance effort. Together, these factors can lower your pace of innovation. An easy way to get started using Amazon Web Services is by deploying development and test workloads.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
