Franklin D. Roosevelt was the 32nd President of the United States, holding office from 1933 to 1945. He was born into a wealthy family in New York and had 6 children with his wife. Roosevelt previously served as Assistant Secretary of the Navy and was the Democratic nominee for Vice President in 1920. He helped form the New Deal coalition to mobilize groups hurt most by the Great Depression and was president during World War II, dying of a cerebral hemorrhage in April 1945 just before the victory in Europe.
