The document discusses horses and the BMW International Polo Series. It describes horses as powerful, graceful animals that can calm humans. It notes that many adults lose contact with horses as they focus on careers in cities. The BMW Polo Series offers guests a chance to reconnect with horses through watching and enjoying polo, which is considered the sport of kings and involves fine food, wine, and players displaying amazing horsemanship. Attendees can take a journey back in time at the event to suspend stress and soak up the glamour and entertainment while reconnecting with horses.

Taking pride of place in the picturesque village of Broadway, enjoy the warmest of welcomes at the Bell. A unique experience, sensitively refurbished to preserve the character of the 18th century inn, combined with exceptional contemporary luxuries.
IT is our aim for the Bell to be a cosy haven in winter and an extensive paradise in the summer- the heart of the village and its community.
Pay Less, Play More. The opportunity to take a swing at Pigeon Forge Zip Lines comes at a much smaller cost than it would to spend the day at an amusement park. So often, even after paying a hefty sum at the door, theme parks will require that you pay per ride, pay to play games, or pay for different conveniences.
Spring is here with magnificent magnolias and drifts of blossom on the streets, and Streatham is looking spectacular. Thank you to reader Hester Bates, for our gorgeous cover photo of the Rookery orchard.
Get summer ready and enjoy state-of-the-art treatments at Streatham’s salons and spas – there’s no need to leave SW16 to find top-quality practitioners. Catch up with new openings and local news, find out about local history, and plan your April entertainment with our Live Music and What’s On Guides. May marks the beginning of the Streatham Summer Season, put Kite Day on the 12th May in your diaries, folks, and see you there!

BRING ON THE
HORSES
Who can resist the enormous black eyes, the powerful neck, flowing mane,
flared snorting nostrils, thundering hooves and primal echo of a magnificent
horse? From the wobbling infancy of a bouncy pony to the sweating,
swollen-veined, gladiator-muscled race horse, to an immaculately groomed
show jumper. Somehow one is always humbled, always in awe of and yet
deeply calmed in the presence of horses.
As children we get to see, feed and ride horses, it’s just something parents see as
a natural part of being introduced to the world. Some of us are fortunate enough
to enjoy the experience through our teenage years on farms and at riding schools.
Most of us bury ourselves in the mayhem of adult city life as we furiously build
careers, only taking time out for urban entertainment or the occasional cycle or
run, ideally in a green space but most indoors at gyms or in concrete jungles.
And so we tend to lose contact with the calming, timeless, sensory experience
of being in the graceful presence of these spiritual animals.
No sport can claim the sense of indugent luxury as ‘the sport of kings’.
The word polo is synonymous with fine food and wines, high heels, sexy
dresses and handsome, muscled and muddied players displaying their
amazing horsemanship while risking their lives for their country’s pride.
At the BMW Polo International Series each year invited guests, picnickers
and ticket holders are treated to a journey back in time where deadlines
andevery stressor are suspended while we soak up the glamour, entertainment
and the rare opportunity to reconnect with horses.
Enjoy the day and if you weren’t able to be there try to take some time out
to visit a farm or stables to remind yourself that life is short and beautiful.
