Your Skill Boost Masterclass: Strategies for Effective Upskilling
Edld 5352 week04_assignment
1. EDLD 5352 Instructional Leadership: The Technology Link
Week 4 Assignment: Due at the end of Week 4.
Overview
Last week, you engaged in an analysis and wrote a report describing the use of technology and
information systems to enrich campus curriculum, enhance teaching and learning, and generally
integrate technology into our campus improvement plans to effectively integrate technology and
instructional leadership. Your analysis and report should provide the necessary background for
the Week 4 major assignment – developing an action plan for gathering, analyzing, and using
data from a variety of sources for informed campus decision making focusing on integrating
technology, instructional leadership, professional development and organizational leadership.
As a result of this week’s assignments, you will be able to:
• Examine and assess procedures for gathering, analyzing, and using data from a variety
of sources for informed decision making regarding the integration of technology,
instructional and organizational leadership (SBEC Principal Competency 7 indicator);
• Design and apply skills for monitoring and evaluating change and making needed
adjustments to achieve the campus vision and goals, including the integration of
technology as described above (SBEC Principal Competency 7 indicator).
Both of these outcomes are elements of Domain II, Instructional Leadership.
In writing your Week 4 action plan, use your interviews, your readings, including campus and
district improvement plans as well as any technology plans, and your Week 3 report to make
sure the action plan:
• Identifies data gathering sources;
• Provides a description of an organizational chart describing decision making
responsibilities regarding the integration of technology from central office personnel to
campus leadership and staff;
• Describes comprehensive professional development activities to achieve your action
plan (this may utilize information from the previous three weeks of readings and
activities);
• Includes an evaluation plan to assess the progress and success of the action plan.
Students will be asked to post their action plan on the Discussion Board and each student must
review and comment on at least one other action plan focusing on organizational leadership
designed to maximize the use of technology in data gathering and decision making.
Submit your assignment by 11:59 PM on the seventh day of Week 4.

Week 4 Assignment, Part 1: Development of an organization chart integrating
technology
Using the campus and district improvement plans, and any suggested technology
improvements, develop an organization chart that includes the following:
• Identify by title or job description all personnel/stakeholders responsible for integrating
technology and instructional and organization leadership from the district office to the
campus and classroom;
• Provide a brief description of the role and responsibilities of all identified personnel in
your organizational chart;
• Discuss the role of the principal in making sure the organizational chart is implemented
and monitored.
The principal's responsibility is to make sure that technology is being integrated and
implemented in all aspects of curriculum and instruction. The principal must be in constant
contact/communication with all stakeholders, above and below on the flow chart, to ensure
that the state, district, and campus plans for technology are being met. The principals also
must support and encourage technology in the school and classroom. Principals also need to
support and allocate funds for on-going professional development in the area of technology.
Principals must also be the model for using technology as a tool for communication, data
collection, identifying data trends, and student success if they want it to be used in the
classrooms of their school.

Week 4 Assignment, Part 2: Professional Development Planning
Using the campus and district improvement plans, and any suggested technology
improvements, develop professional development activities that include the following:
• Reference analysis and lessons learned about the technology needs from the Week 3
report;
• Addresses professional development designed to improve the gathering, analysis and use
of data from a variety of sources;
• Includes professional development to improve decision making in the integration of
technology with instructional and organizational leadership.
The planning/brainstorming of a technology needs professional development while referring to
week 3’s work, the campus improvement plan, the district improvement plan, and the STaR
Chart will be a fairly easy and effective task. There are areas of technology in use or available
within the district and at my campus that are loaded with information and useful tools. The
issue is that there is little knowledge on how to effectively use or navigate these tools. I hope
the following staff development plan, along with others (on-going), will shed some light on
these tools so out teachers will use and implement them in their classrooms effectively and
with success.
Professional Development Goals and Objective:
District goal for technology: CISD will provide technology infrastructure, tools, and solutions to
meet the administrative requirements of the district and to maximize learning for all students.
District goal for communication: CISD will promote and enhance two-way communication
among our staff and our community to maximize the success of all students.
Campus goal for technology: To ensure that all students and staff utilize technology as a tool
for learning. Knox Junior High will utilize technology to maximize learning for all students and to
enhance the educational practices of teachers.
Campus goal for communication: Knox Junior High will promote and enhance two-way
communication among our staff and our community to maximize the success of all students.
Objective of the professional development: To ensure knowledge, use, and implementation of
available classroom technology through effective communication and subject relevant
modeling.

Develop and maintain a campus procedures and practices for communicating with staff, CISD
communications office, and patrons/media regarding daily campus/district activities/events, special
campus/district activities/events, urgent non-life threatening situations, disaster/life-threatening
situations, weather/natural disaster, and other special circumstances. This will also include the
procedures and practices for keeping the lines of communication clear with all stakeholders outside of
school walls.
Educational Technology Integration and Implementation Principles:
This session will aid helping teachers to become comfortable in planning and designing instructional
activities that implement technology in order to support student learning and to aid all staff in the
school to support and advocate for the use of technology in the classroom.
Eduphoria’s effective navigation and use:
This session will help teacher become more familiar with the inner-working of eduphoria. There is a lot
of information and clicking that has to be done to properly and efeectively navigate this site and to
unlock it’s potential. This training will help teachers to accomplish this so that they can use the
reseources found in this software program. This will also give teachers a chance to let the technology
specialssts know what it is they think could be fixed or “made better” in the program to make it more
“user-friendly”.
Blogs/Wikis/Web 2.0 Tools:
This session will show and model to teacher the effectiveness of use in the classroom that these tools
offer. Actual classroom examples of implementation and success will be used to model the use of these
technologies.
*There will also be a focus in the importance of the STaR chart data that is completed by teachers on a
yearly basis. It will be made known that this infomatiin is very valuabe as a summative evaluation for all
things technology related for our campus. So there will be time spent explaining the results of these
scores and their meanings. This will be built into the introduction via PowerPoint.*

Week 4 Assignment, Part 4: Posting your Action Report and Responding to Other
Students’ action plans
Using the discussion board and the blog that you have developed, please write and post
your action plan, and be sure to:
• Read and review at least two other action plans
• Respond to other action plans by posting your comments and reflections
The purpose of the action report is to provide you with recommended procedures for
gathering, analyzing, and using data from a variety of sources for informed campus decision
making focusing on the effective integration of technology in curriculum, instruction,
assessment and professional development. Students may wish to use this action plan as
one of your school improvement projects for your Electronic Portfolio. You may also use the
