LAKEVIEW PARK
Geography
 Lake View Park is also called Rawal Lake Park
 Lake View Park is a recreational area and wildlife spot
 It is situated on Murree road, Islamabad
 While traveling from Islamabad to Murree a road turns right
just before Barakahu and leads to this beautiful park

Islamabad and Rawalpindi
 It is constructed alongside Rawal Lake, which is an
artificial reservoir that fulfills water needs for cities of
Rawalpindi and Islamabad
 Situated at the bank of Rawal Lake, the park is an
amusement place of international standards

History
The park was built with efforts of Chairman CDA
(Capital Development Authority) Kamran Lashari
It was built to provide a healthy spot for the increasing
number of tourists who wished to visit Rawal lake
CDA has paid particular attention to maintain the park by
allocating hundreds of workers in different sections
including gardeners, security guards, sanitary workers
and other management staff 6
RAWAL LAKE
Rawal Lake is an artificial reservoir built on the Korang
River, Islamabad which runs from the Margalla Hills
It was built in 1962 by the Punjab Government to cater
the need for water shortage in the area
It covers the needs for water in the cities of Islamabad
and Rawalpindi along with being a popular tourist spot in
the city

MAIN FEATURES OF LAKEVIEW PARK
CDA has provided lovely installations of amusement park
like passenger train and busses, games and fun rides for
children and elders
The park also provides facilities of adventure sports
Wall (rock) climbing, paintball, quad motocross, car
dodging, scooter boats and speed boats are some of
adventure sports to do in Lake View Park

Boating (both paddle boats and row boats), fishing area
and swimming pool are available for families and
individuals
There is a small passenger train in the park
Bathrooms are available for ladies and gents on different
locations in park
A spacious walk-in bird aviary is the most wonderful
feature of the Park

Black Swan, Australian Parrot, Makao, ducks, ostriches,
emus, turkeys and many other small and large Birds
The bird-house is an enjoyable place for families and kids
to take a walk among the beautiful birds and admire their

A restaurant named “Dera” is offering food and

Most of the people who visit park are from Urban areas.
Lakeview Park has high value due to its use for the
recreation, tourism, education and scientific research
Now general public is taking out time from their busy
routine for recreational activities
More than 80% of the public wants improvement in park

But people are not willing to pay extra amount for tickets
They want Government to reallocate budget for
recreational activities and donations to be raised for the
improvement of park
Some people are unaware of the term “recreation and
environment” but still they are visiting these places in
their leisure time
