The $230 million EV Project funded by the Department of Energy installed over 15,000 electric vehicle chargers across 6 states and Washington DC, with the goal of putting approximately 8,000 electric vehicles on the road. In San Diego, the project provided over 1,000 free residential chargers and 1,450 public chargers for participants, as well as 60 fast chargers, working with local governments and contractors from 2010 to 2012 to collect data on electric vehicle adoption and charger usage.
