The document discusses the eBIZ initiative, which aims to promote eBusiness adoption in the European textile industry. eBIZ defines standard processes and document formats to facilitate electronic message exchanges along supply chains. It provides a reference architecture and rules for application integration and interoperability. The standards are managed by EURATEX and technical support is provided by ENEA.

3. eBIZ in short
Initiative launched by European Commission (DG Industry & Enterprise) and promoted by
EURATEX, CEC and ENEA, manged by EURATEX.
Objective
Creation of of a favourable environment for ICT and eBusiness adoption for the
European Textile, Clothing and Footwear (TCF) industry enabling an inclusive
supply chain integration : the REFERENCE ARCHITECTURE

Harmonisation, at European and International level, of architectures and existing
standards related to the eBusiness for the TCF industries
Creation of a critical mass of adopters
History
eBIZ collects international (OASIS UBL) and sectorial experiences (Moda-ML,
Shoenet) and embeds them in a common architecture (eBIZ-TCF, 2008);
eBIZ submits to CEN WS process (2013)

4. It is a specification that:
Rules messages exchange between different organisations of the
supply chain
defines (few) rules for the applications and the actors of the TCF supply
chains willing to adopt them
Create a favourable environment for the development of (new)
interoperable software applications
It is not a software application but a
public document with related on-line
software resources

5. Answer
Message exchanges between independent systems:

Message sending and receiving via Internet through interfaces
Message comprehension and answer coherence
Answer sending and receiving via Internet

What is ruled by eBIZ?
6. Models of PROCESSes: description of the sequence of the data exchange between
the different roles (fabric producer, vendor managed inventory, subcontracting,…)
Models of DOCUMENTs Models of electronic Documents: they define the data
models and make the exchanged data not ambiguous (i.e. order, textile quality
report, sales report, offer request,…). Their use is mandatory.
Product and party identification methods (towards retail: GS1 GTIN and GLN)
Reliable and safe communication protocols for data exchange
Specific issues deepening:
RFID
eInvoice,
Business models classification
Customised products (footwear)
Architecture elements
7. eBIZ management
A permanent Board promoted by EURATEX to foster adoption and maintain
eBIZ (versions delivered by intervals of 2-3 years)
New versions are and will be back-compatible (incremental approach)
Deconding values tables frequently updated (incrementally)
ENEA manages as technical secretariat, collects new requirements and
translate them into DRAFT proposals useful for the next releases
