Eastern State Penitentiary in Philadelphia housed several famous criminals including Al Capone, Willie Sutton, Victor "Babe" Andreoli, and Morris "The Rabbi" Bolber. Capone served 8 months for weapon possession living in luxury. Sutton was an escape artist who broke out of Eastern State only to be recaptured 3 minutes later. Andreoli escaped in 1943 after being convicted of killing a state trooper but was later shot dead by police. Bolber joined the prison synagogue and thanked a volunteer for his kindness before dying at Eastern State in 1954.
