“ Jesus Is Risen”
New Life gives us
hope for a better
     future.
The mission of Jesus did not
end on the CROSS. His life
reached its climax with his
  RESURRECTION and his
       ASCENSION.

 Christ’s Ascension marks the
  final accomplishment of his
            mission
The R esurrec tion of J esus

  1. The women went to anoint
 Jesus’ body on Easter Sunday.
2. They found that the stone sealing
the tomb had been rolled away.

3. The body of Jesus was gone.
  4. A message was given that
        Jesus had risen.
From the Gospel of Mark
Speaks of the apprehension which
  the women of Jerusalem felt
   when they saw Jesus’ empty
              tomb.
Yet, the “young man dressed in a
  white robe” appeased them by
 saying that Jesus of Nazareth
         has beed raised.
The Resurrection
    speaks of the
  passage of Jesus
from death to new,
 definitive glorified
         life.

 Historical and
trans-historical
Historical
- by virtue of the testimony
of witnesses
- The empty tomb

      Trans-Historical
(transcends history)
- No one actually witnessed
how it happened.

    Can be discerned only
      through FAITH
GLORIFIED BODY

  † The Risen Christ is
   the same Crucified
         Christ.

 † In his risen state
   (transcends the
physical limits of time
      and space)
RESURRECTION

  † did not mean a
return to earthly life
  but a rising to an
    entirely new
“glorified existence”
Salvific Importance of the Resurrection:

    1. Confirmed everything
  Christ had done and
                taught.
 Christ fulfilled His own
prediction of His Passion,
Death & Resurrection

5. Christ’s death freed us from sin
and his resurrection brought us a
share in the new life as children of
               God.

 The Resurrection transformed
    us into adopted sons and
daughters of the Father, in the
Holy Spirit.
 The risen
 Christ is the
principle and
source of our
    future
resurrection.
