A 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck Ecuador on Saturday near the town of Muisne, killing dozens. The quake was Ecuador's largest since 1979 and caused widespread damage as far as 300km away in Guayaquil, destroying bridges. President Rafael Correa declared a state of emergency and said the earthquake was a painful test for the country, but that they would overcome this tragedy as lives lost cannot be recovered, which hurts the most.
